I have actually made a sprite flash, a few. My brother is a spriter, he creates his original DBZ sprites. He has made his own sprite sheet. Making a scratch sprite is hard; animating them is not.
And 98% of all the sprite movies on Newgrounds are unoriginal (Dragon Ball Z, Naruto, etc.).
And those flashes are all made by the same person.
No, since sprites are the easiest to animate every new Flash animator makes sprite flashes. Everything is already there for you, all the animation is done you just need to put it together.
