Well, enterFrame is doing just that, ever time you enter the frame, it's doing those actions. You'll want to put the a=0 in onClipEvent(load) and keep the a+=1 on the on enter frame, if I understand your problem correctly.

2D and 3D are just mediums, what it boils down to is who is telling the better story. Granted, 3d is cheaper to make, so you're going to see a lot more of it now than you saw 2D I'd imagine.
