nooooo, I need a certain frame in a certain scene.

Ok. then do this:

gotoAndPlay(x, y);

x= scene name
y= frame within that scene

i should say that this code is also in the 3rd frame of the main timeline as taht is when i want the movie to jump to its third frame

_root.mech_mc.gotoAndPlay(2);
}

I am trying to get a movie clip on the maintimeline to jump to its second frame and play... this bit of code in on, not in, the movie clip instance on the main timeline

Ok i was to try this excercise for class as homework but I cant get the damn thing working. Basically I'm supposed to make a movieclip follow the mouse... like a custom cursor type thing. Im totally unfamiliar with actionscript so help me out

I am using this code in the movieclips timeline after giving it the instance name "movieclip":
onClipEvent(enterFrame){
this._x=_root._xmouse;
this._y=_root._ymouse;
}

and i get this erroe message:
**Error** Symbol=Symbol 1, layer=Layer 2, frame=1:Line 1: Clip events are permitted only for movie clip instances
onClipEvent(enterFrame){

Total ActionScript Errors: 1 Reported Errors: 1

Whenever ive been adding in sounds this morning, they have been playing earlier than where they are placed in the timeline, IN PREVIOUS SCENES! thats right they play a whole scene too soon... how can a sound from the NEXT scene play in this one? WHAT IS GOING ON?!!?
