I think there may be a difference between the UK and US service, but a friend of mine managed to land an army job with the terettorial army for 2 years and he never actually went to the frontline in iraq or afganistan etc, but he just learnt and patrolled in various locations.
If you take out the possibility that you might get killed, it should be an interesting, character building thing to take part in. According to my friend it was the best thing he ever did.
That's what i want to do, my friend who is 27 years old, went to the Army for 1 year, had training learned how to be a Mechanic and got a Driving License for driving Trucks, All for free within 1 year in the army, then he left and got a normal job, and he was never in a war or anything.
He said he enjoyed it, and learned alot of things.
And i was thinking to do the same thing, you know learn to fire guns, defend yourself free license?
I wish you could still do this.
