Anyone else getting the odd bit of lag on the PC version? It's incredibly irritating and I know it's a server problem because every other online game is lag free.

I want to like Hydrophobia Prophecy's protagonist, but her voice actor is just terrible.

Response to: Contemplating an MMO Posted January 22nd, 2012 in Video Games

MMO Grinder has reviewed a couple of F2P games and you should check out his videoes to see if any of those games appeal.

From what I can piece together, EVE is a great concept but suffers in the same way many older browser-based games do: Griefing and Time Investment. The largest corporation/guild in EVE is basically a massive troll guild dedicated to ruining everyone trying to play the game as intended. And as someone has said before, you can lose 3 months of progress to people like that just because they had a better ship which they got because they played longer than you did.

I want to like EVE, I love the appeal of a nearly-entirely player run MMO but it's so reliant on time investment and how long you've been playing that you've virtually no chance at this point to catch up to the top players. And the learning curve for it is a cliff.

Aside from the guy who landed that sweet Juri combo into ultra (Patrick i think?) I can safely say i kerbstomped the lot of you on SF4.

Such a shame the timing windows are vastly different on SF2. The amount of times a Blanka or Chun Li would use the spam attacks and lock someone down drove me nuts, all I could think was "SHORYUKEN FOR PETE'S SAKE!"

Somebody's not aware of the current state of the economy! Unemployment among 16-25 year olds (IE: The ones most likely to go to these protests IMO) is very high right now, at least a million in the UK.

So what do you expect they'll do? Job Hunting? It's difficult, if not impossible, for anyone in that age group to get a job unless they have tons of experience in the job sector, the right connections or a very good degree and even that's no longer a guarantee, because your competing with people with the same degree AND a few years experience. Job hunting is soul crushing and relentless.

So instead they try to make there voices heard by bitching at the man. It's better than just laying about at home all day doing fuck all with their lives.

What books have you paid money for. Posted January 17th, 2012 in General

Simple question, Simple thread.

What books, comics, novels etc have you actually paid money to read? Physical, online, whatever.

I can only personally recall two: Warcraft: War of the Ancients Triology (Wasn't worth it) and the best purchase I ever made from my local library. A book about roadkill called "When Animals Die" for 10 pence.

Read a lot more, but that's all I can remember actually paying for.

I'll admit I was on the fence for a while because the whole thing feels more like a publicity stunt than a protest sometimes, however I'm against SOPA and want to be on the right side of history.

At least leave the forums up. Anyone who goes here is no doubt aware of SOPA. Blackouts on websites are designed to inform the casual visitors, to make the point to them. Spread the word, but don't preach to the choir and beat them with a shoe.

Response to: Is "slut" still even an insult? Posted January 17th, 2012 in General

"Slut" and "Stud" do imply the same thing, but to be a Stud is an accomplishment and a Slut an insult because of how men and women are wired up biologically.

Simply put, it's a billion times easier for a woman to get laid with a man than it is for a man to get laid with a woman. This makes men who get around rather impressive, as they are beating the odds, and women who sleep around are seen as lacking self-respect, even if that's not actually the case.
