A topic like that is too hard to moderate. It would need to be watched perpetually, as it essentially promotes people posting NSFW material. And not just any NSFW material, but extreme kinds.

And not just any old extreme kinds, but Xtreme kinds with an 'X' and no 'e'.

In case you were wondering, the pig screech is not mandatory, though if you have a kayak, you are welcome to improvise.

It should essentially be obvious to most people why that thread was locked.

Who's to blame?

Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

I know why you did it. I know you were afraid. Who wouldn't be? War, terror, disease. There were a myriad of problems which conspired to corrupt your reason and rob you of your common sense.

Fear got the best of you, and in your panic you turned to the now high chancellor, Adam Sutler. He promised you order, he promised you peace, and all he demanded in return was your silent, obedient consent.

Last night I sought to end that silence. Last night I destroyed the Old Bailey, to remind this country of what it has forgotten.

More than four hundred years ago a great citizen wished to embed the fifth of November forever in our memory. His hope was to remind the world that fairness, justice, and freedom are more than words, they are perspectives.

So if you've seen nothing, if the crimes of this government remain unknown to you then I would suggest you allow the fifth of November to pass unmarked. But if you see what I see, if you feel as I feel, and if you would seek as I seek, then I ask you to stand beside me one year from tonight, outside the gates of Parliament, and together we shall give them a fifth of November that shall never, ever be forgot.

Seeing as you are 13 years old, and a dog lives for around 10 to 12 years (on average), realistically you would need to be caring for the animal until you are at least around 23. Taking it to the vet, training it, walking it, buying it's food, trying to get an apartment when you move out of home that allows animals, etc.

Now, I don't know you, but I couldn't imagine you doing this. Hell, I couldn't do it when I got a dog at your age. As such, it's really a family dog, which the family looks after when the child becomes bored of it (usually only takes a year or two max).

So yeah, if your father doesn't want to look after it, and he doesn't think you are capable, then he is probably right in what he is doing.

Topic: Communism deserves more respect

Posted: 04/27/08 08:14 AM

Forum: General

At 4/26/08 10:13 PM, Naglfar wrote: Communism DOES WORK, it just hasn't been given the proper chance to prove it and. A perfect world, no more hatred, no more racism, people just getting along and sharing and caring and loving the planet.

People often confuse the word communism with utopia. Fact is, communism doesn't work. Unless of course, you are the dictator, in which case it probably works fine (although the constant fearing for ones life would probably be a pain).

Some aspects of communism are positive, in the same way as some aspects of capitalism are positive. If you were only to take the good parts of communism (without the bad) and apply them to your nation-wide 'system' then it would no longer be communism, and this is a common argument route for pro-communism types (the whole "everyone would be sharing and happy and free" jazz). Though, inherently, it would be something else, not communism. Therefore the argument is void.

Anyone with the ability to think and a basic understanding of human nature should realize this.

At the end of the day though, arguing about ideology (and belief) over the internet is a pointless affair, because only 1% of those involved with said arguments would be willing to actually change their viewpoint even when presented with water-tight facts.

Simple.

In fact just a few weeks ago my housemate found his and got it working again. Unfortunately, to make it work once more, he had completely disassembled it, and had all the parts laid out flat. It ruined the effect a little.

They were pretty much the exact same game, except PD64 added so many improvements to the system....lol.
Hell, they even brought back the best maps from Goldeneye....

Well, as you know, the results were voted on, so it wasn't really down to me. Looking back on some of the results though, I should have rigged it!

IMO Goldeneye was better than Perfect Dark though. Sure gameplay-wise PD may have been superior, but as we all know, there is alot more to a game than simple playability and options. In terms of theme, maps, graphics, music and general coolness, Goldeneye wins hands down. And to be honest, I didn't really notice huge improvements to the system when playing through Perfect Dark. All I noticed was a flashy version of Goldeneye minus the soul.

Also, I can't believe there's no Final Fantasy 3....or was that not eligible or some shit? I guess I should've voted...

Yes, you should have voted. FF3 for the SNES did get some votes though, just not enough to put it in the top 10. I'm actually pretty supportive of the way the SNES Top 10 turned out.

And Mario World better than Link To The Past? HAH Yeah ok.

In a way, I agree with you. Link To The Past is probably one of my favourite games of all time, but I still think Mario World is more deserving of the No. 1 spot than it. Super Mario World is a classic loved by everyone ;)

A Link To The Past should definitely have been above Metroid though. I was quite surprised by Metroid getting so many votes; I was never much into it myself.

Pikmin 2 only got slightly less votes than Pikmin 1. Occasionally, a game with sequels will skew voting type things, as the voters are not always specific with their titles. Some of them could have put Pikmin down and actually meant Pikmin 2. While the sequel is generally regarded as a little bit better than the original, some people just prefer the first in a series over sequels, so yeah ;)

Super Mario 64 DS was a dissapointment because there is nothing good on the roof you spend all that time finding out were all the stars and and getting them all and theres nothing on the roof! Mari and Luigi partners in time was a great game probley should be higher because brain Age wasn't very good.

Hah, yeah. I was actually surprised at the amount of people who listed Brain Age. It Wouldn't be in my top 10. Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time is one of my favorite DS games. I would have liked to see it higher too.

At 4/24/08 09:00 PM, Some-Stupid-Idiot wrote: It was one of the few games I would not put down until I got almost every ending. My favorite was the Chronoless ending.

Even friends of mine who aren't particularly big on Nintendo and/or consoles enjoyed Chronotrigger. It's simply a brilliant game. Perhaps I should do an RPG list... It would be high up there indeed.

Though seeing as it was a popularity vote, I can understand why it wasn't higher up on the list. It's not quite as mainstream as some of the others which beat it.

Earthworm Jim was Classic, Harvest Moon was extremely addicting, NBA Jam was pretty sweet, and Secret of Mana was just what the hell am I suppose to do next.

Lol, maybe I was tripping a bit with NBA Jam and Secret of Mana (Still great games though), but I was quite surprised that neither Earthworm Jim and Harvest Moon made the list. In fact, Harvest Moon only got two votes in total! Shocking.

The strangeness was Super Mario All Stars and Super Mario World on that list. All Stars has that and more. I didn't understand why Super Mario RPG was higher either.

Well, SMW and SMAS are actually two separate games. I do realize they were bundled together on some cartridges, but it doesn't seem right to lump them together on lists such as this. Also, I had never even seen the two games combined until I came across an article on the internet. I doubt they were ever sold in tandem over here. I had two separate cartridges ;)

Yeah, Chronotrigger is a great game. One of the best. If it was my personal list, it would be higher up as well ;)

I was also disapointed at the lack of Earthworm Jim, Harvest Moon, NBA Jam and Secret of Mana in the SNES results.

Perfect dark is better than paper mario, and paper mari shouldn't even been on the list. Godo game, but not that good for best of all time. Rest I agree with.

I wasn't really a fan of Perfect Dark. It always played second fiddle to Goldeneye in my collection.

Good job idle, just some of you, I wonder wtf are you thinking.

THE RESULTS ARE IN!

Just to refresh your memory:

Okay, so the premise for this thread is pretty simple. I put together a list of the top 10 games of all time from various Nintendo consoles as voted on by YOU, the users. Even though you see these kinds of lists all the time in gamer mags and sites, I would be interested in seeing one reflecting the views of NG.

The following lists cover 4 game systems: SNES, N64, GameCube and DS. There may be more at a later date. All Top 10 links go to a happy GameFAQ's page with loads of useful info.

[ SNES ]

1. Super Mario World
2. Super Metroid
3. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
4. Super Mario Kart
5. Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island

6. Earthbound
7. Donkey Kong Country
8. Chronotrigger
9. Star Fox
10. Super Mario All Stars

Honorable Mention: Just missing out on a place in the Top 10 was Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.

The WTF Award: One of my favorite games, Mega Man X, barely even registered a vote. For shame.

[ N64 ]

1. Super Mario 64
2. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time
3. Super Smash Bros.
4. Goldeneye 007
5. Mario Kart 64

6. Star Fox 64
7. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
8. Banjo-Kazooie
9. Paper Mario
10. Perfect Dark

Honorable Mention: You know it. Mario Party 3 almost made it. Still one of my favorite multiplayer experiences!

The Too Cool Award: Not only did Cruis'n USA fail to receive any votes, it also has the greatest midi funk on the track selection screen to ever grace a game.

[ GameCube ]

1. Super Smash Bros. Melee
2. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
3. Metroid Prime
4. Resident Evil 4
5. Super Mario Sunshine

6. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
7. Mario Kart: Double Dash!!
8. Pikmin
9. Animal Crossing
10. Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

Honorable Mention(s): Both Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem and Luigi's Mansion just missed out on nabbing a spot on the list.

The Sad Faic Award: Tom Fulp's very own Alien Hominid was only a slight blip on the radar when the votes were tallied. Awww. Still, it got more votes than Soul Calibre II!

[ DS ]

1. New Super Mario Bros.
2. Mario Kart DS
3. The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
4. Pokemon Pearl/Diamond
5. Super Mario 64 DS

6. Metroid Prime: Hunters
7. Brain Age
8. Advance Wars: Dual Strike
9. Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time
10. WarioWare: Touched!

Honorable Mention: After losing the console war, Sega went quiet for a while. Then they came out with games such as Sonic Rush. Missed out on 10th spot by a hair.

The Self Sabotage Award: I really enjoyed playing Lego Star Wars 2: The Original Trilogy. It could have been great; worthy of Top 10 lists everywhere. Unfortunately, the developers decided to make it a glitch fest instead.

-----------

WELL THATS IT. Some of the results were quite a surprise others were a straight given.

Thanks to all the users who contributed votes:

I have been quite happy with the replacement. It's not nearly as fiddly, and, like FIG said, I also blame alot of the problems with the old one on Creative trying to make it do too much. Nothing beats the old Mp3 players which JUST played music. Thats all I want it to do anyway.

So yeah, no real dramas, except for the fact that my new Zen V seems to RANDOMLY STOP PLAYING MUSIC AS IF IT'S BEEN PAUSED WHEN IT ACTUALLY HASN'T at times.

Still, works the vast majority of the time. It's battery life is shit though.
