Speaking of Swashbuckle, they're the best band of the new wave of american thrash right now. their albums are really fun and thrashy and boozy and all around hilarity with riffs to boot. not to mention that they're a power trio, which is really unheard of in thrash.

Since you like Mastodon, check out Ahab. It's a funeral doom band with a nautical theme. They have two albums out, so get both.
Bill, they probably used four strings because it was cheaper than getting extended ranges, or at the time extended ranges were for jazz guys exclusively.
