yeah, you could say it's like newgrounds, but so what?

Coca Cola and Jolt Cola is kind of the same thing, but coca cola has something special.

If newgrounds is coca cola and my site is like a cheap ass jolt cola, then it's basicly the same thing, but with some differences.

If people think I'm just ripping of the ng idea, fine, but keep it to yourself, I just want to have a site that has lots of things I love.

Don't try to burst my bubble, but that's just shit I have to take ^^

Response to: A new site, looking for artists Posted February 1st, 2009 in General

I almost forgot!

I'm also looking for musician, people that love to draw whatever, artists whatsoever, even somebody that could just advertise us a little, or help improve the site!

This project is only for people that love small sites, and want to help out/participate in the very beginning!

So, let me now if you're interested :)

Great! PM me the link to your .swf and I'll send a link to the site when it's added! :)

Thanks for the tip :D But I'll be switching to a One.com domain, it barely cost anything! :D

And what is your sign up scripts you have there? It can be simple, but I also need that for my site. I've been having problems on that. I didn't know you could do that with HTML

My domain is a free domain, and for some reason it can only support html.

I tried to make a html driven sign up script, but failed.

But one day, I got over this javascript code.

It creates a box, that you can fill out your desired username and that stuff, and when you submit it, it sends the info to my inbox! Really cool, even though I have to approve and create users for them, it's still worth it.

The script is originally for a rate and review box, but I changed the titles and stuff, and it worked great! :)

If you want to try it out, visit www.rating-system.com, make an account and create a review box and change the options so it becomes a "sign up" box, it's not perfect, but it works totally ok :)

"The Portal remained stagnant for the next eight months, until one day in August when I came across a piece of Flash that was so good and violent that I thought it would be perfect on Newgrounds! I figured I would email the author, and with his permission, I would put his movie in The Portal with my goofy crap. I was always big on keeping my stuff exclusive to Newgrounds, so I couldn't imagine someone letting me showcase their stuff on here as well. To my surprise, the author said yes! Hate became the first of the "third-party" Newgrounds content."

I don't want to be an asshole at all, I just think you should know that he did ask sometimes :)

Response to: A new site, looking for artists Posted February 1st, 2009 in General

truest comment in the tread. The idea for this website is almost a decade old, not very orgional.

Yes, it's true.

But I hadn't settled with the whole "flash portal site" idea, I've been thinking about having all kinds of art and media.

Yes it's not very original, but I'm not interested in it being a success, it's just something I want to do cuz I love html programming, i love flash, music, art and I just want to create a site that revolves around that.

Response to: A new site, looking for artists Posted February 1st, 2009 in General

Your welcome. Are you also going to link them to their rightful place on newgrounds, so I can get more traffic?

Sure I can! No problem :)

I'm setting it all up as we speak!

I've been playing with the thought of just uploading my own work, and other peoples (if they want to) crap work, you know the flashes people make when they are bored, like that kind of site, and also have an art section and stuff.

I do realize it would be like taking the idea of newgrounds if it would be a mainly flash site, but I wrote that cuz I wanted people who want to be a part of a smaller site, not that I thought I would become as big as newgrounds or anything like that.

And since this is a mainly flash site, I though that mostly flash artist would be interested.

But I've read your feedback and responses and the idea for a flash site is not looking good.

I will continue toying with the idea, and figure out how I want it to be.

Thanks.

Response to: A new site, looking for artists Posted February 1st, 2009 in General

TomFulp started uploading other peoples work par requests, not through asking to upload it.

Read the history, he asked and people also asked.

Not exactly like newgrounds, I have uploaded my own work, and tomfulp did upload other peoples work to.

Get your facts right :)

A new site, looking for artists Posted February 1st, 2009 in General

So I've started a new site, the title shall remain unnamed, but it's basicly a very simple fun site, it's like newgrounds in the 1998-1999 (early) 2000 era! It's all html made, so the sign up member scripts and upload php scripts can't be added, but in awhile, I will change domains, to one that supports php and you will all be able to sign up accounts!

But since there's no portal, I have to upload the flash animations myself, (like tom fulp did back in 1998)
I'm not saying it's at all as good as newgrounds, even though it's kind of the same concept, this will stay humble and be a non-profit project, (even though I may add ads)

So if you feel you want to have your animations up on a smaller site, please upload them to -UPLOADSITE LINK- and then post the url in this topic, or pm the url to me :)

Thanks to everyone that wants to participate, and I look forward seeing many cool animations,

-NOTE-
The only content NOT allowed is beastiality and hardcore porn.

The link to the site, will be pm:d to those who choose to participate!

Thanks!

/ICYCREW

-NOTE-
Authors WILL be credited for their work!

List of people already involved:
oldlyshapedchris
MarcyVF
nggangsterpimp

-EDIT-
So i've basicly created a VERY primitive way to sign up as a member on my site, it's not really a member sign up script, but it will work!

The userpages will only be accessible by me (the admin) but that's how far you can go with HTML programming.

When you've gotten the link to the site, go to the "sign up" page and write in the info, and submit it and I will create your userprofile! :)

I don't think that they are all gone, but face it, the members that signed up in the beginning are adults now, and don't have time for these kind of sites (most of them)

But to those Ol Schooler that still spend their time here on NG, hats off to you!

The highest scoring one was "Final Fantasy A+" with I believe a 4.01 or 4.04, so go figure what's changed...

And of course the site design was a lot different, though I can't picture it clearly. There's a site though with all the old stuff that was on NG.

And people in the forums weren't talking about bullshit like being an '08 user or '09 user like they do these days.

I hear ya!

I've seen so many mindless posts, it's like it's an armada of people that don't have anything good to say.

Even though I just signed up 07, I've seen more and more spammers on the bbs through the years.

Thanks for the ng info!

I agree with you, today's top 50, is just movies that have gotten good score and nothing else.

Newgrounds History! Posted January 24th, 2009 in General

I'm very interested in the history of the awesome site that is newgrounds!

I know they already have a "newgrounds history" section, (ng history) but I'm curious if any old school members could describe how newgrounds were and worked, and I'd love to see pics of the old newgrounds.

Before the portal, the beginning of the portal, how did it all look and work? :)

When did they start the rank system, the voting system, the experience points, etc

Everything from the beginning until today!

Thanks in advance!

Hahaha, nobody I know even knows what Newgrounds is :D And it's pretty cool here where I live (where the hell that is?) to wear odd things, it's kinda stupid, but that's the truth

It's optional :D

NG Store? Posted September 19th, 2008 in General

So my birthday is coming up, and I was thinking about ordering some stuff from Newgrounds, but my mom wants to know how the order is made, if I have to pay via some credit card, or something like that? If anyone knows about this, please tell me, so I can both make myself happy (ha-ha) and make newgrounds some more money!

Much Appreciated!

Spreading the network Posted September 19th, 2008 in General

Yo, I'm kinda sad (not really) that I don't have so many contacts on ng that I want, so if anybody wants to make a ng internet friend (which is a halfhearted friendship) just let me know, and maybe if you like my animations we could like collab in the future...

I made this post cuz I'm kinda bored, and I don't appreciate if you hate on this topic, but I would if anybody else would post something like this, so I don't blame you!

Have an awesome day!

Two guys walk into a bar, the first one is fat, the second one is skinny, the skinny one is nervous because it's his first time at a bar, the fat one's nervous becuz he's about to come out the closet.
They sit down, order two appletinis, and suddenly the fat one says: "I'm gay" the skinny one replies: "THANK GOD, I thought you were gonna say that you're underaged!" The fat one then says: "I'm acutally 68" and the skinny one says: "DAMN! That's a long time in the closet"

My gift, to you...
