Let us take away guns----whats next? Personally I'd worry about bows/arrows/crossbows. At less than 15 yards (typical gun engagement range) Ive seen a crossbow bolt penetrate body armor ---and at that same range ive seen arrows impact with a force as great if not greater than a .45 I am more worried about some kid/teenager shooting me with a crossbow than i am with a gun. Anyone can buy a minicrossbow and best of all...no license required.
Guns are not the issue..People are the issue...PEOPLE kill PEOPLE not guns
all this "antigun" rhetoric is fine well and dandy but what do you do when push comes to shove? It is far to easy to take a stance on things when your freedoms are "nice and cozy safe" for you but what do you when they are threatened? Tell the "badguy" not to use guns because of some opinion you have?
Might makes Right--all morality/political standards mean nothing in the face of raw force----your desires/believes mean nothing when your looking down the barrel of a gun or your at ground zero for a bomb/misslie. Ask the people of hiroshima and nagasaki that were "nuked" or suffered from assorted radition based diseases if their emperors "divine will and judgement" helped protect them in their social/political viewpoint? Ask those following sadam who died from a smart missle/apache gunship/etc. if their beliefs saved them from death----Morality is the last bastion of cowards---I am almost certain that if your continued survival/freedoom depended on if you shot someone or not/had a gun in your posseion or not----you would have a gun and use it if need be.

Bottom line is all politics aside---a dictator ( who was so low as to starve his own people while he lived the life of a king/use them for test subjects in biochemical warfare tests) was removed from power and the chaos from a lack of authority has ensued. The COALITION is striveing to render aid/assistance in reestablishing the governtment/living condiotions in iraq. You can rant all you want about how "bad it is: over there but exactly WHAT are YOU doing about it? aside from ranting and complaining what have YOU done to help ease the iraq peoples suffering that you seem to so earnestly wish to present in some form or another? Have you sent them money? have you voluntered time/effort that directly benifits them in a tangible fashion? Just something you should think about as you pat yourself on the back for being "oh so world conscience" about their(people in iraq) suffering. You may not like/agree with the current US administration but I at least see them extending aid/support to the iraq people.

I just finished upgradeing my system and part of the system I opted to upgrade was the harddrive. I spent 350+ on it and got it at the COMPUSA ( I was buying fans and saw it--impulse buy--always try to buy from the net for better prices).
I would have to say that I like the drive alot....windows installed in less than 30 mins...games intsall faster...performance overall is good. Is it worth the $$$ honestly?=No...if my budget were tighter i woulda opted for the 8mb/7200 hd---amount of money i spent could easily have bougt the 250gig size. I just wanted to have a bleeding edge system.
In all...unless you have the money---wait...save...while they are worth it--- the performance gains might not be enough for you to justify the $$$.
With all the people in this forum haveing one opinion or another about politics...who among you are willing to actually DO something or more to the point actually able to?

Frankly I would like to see commentary made by someone that understands the subject under debate--as for why they didnt "shoot the tires"---The car can still move and the occupants of the vehicle have the opportunity to shoot at not only the guards but may in fact shoot innocent people (ie..people who stopped at the checkpoint)...its is not easy to get a clean shot at a fast moveing object....If they could have used a more nonlethal means of stopping the vehicle safely they would have---please review your rules for DEADLY FORCE USAGE...yes i was in the military and have stood arned watches---no fun and stress filled...Personally I feel with all this hoopla someone else would step up to the plate and TAKE OVER from what the US is trying to do---so far I see NO ONE willing to fully undertake the responsiblites...Just remember that someone else is sacrificeing so that you can enjoy your freedooms.

Your statement is typical of someone who is uneducated in firearms and their use---if you bothered to look up FACTS before spouting off opinions you would find=1)that carrying a handgun (concealed or otheriwse) into a church or school is a fealony offence (think back to my post about NOT wanting to be bubba's bitch in prison) 2)you CANNOT carry a firearm in any store--many places are off limits in fact--again a law abidding chl user DOES NOT want to be "bubba's bitch".
Now I should be fair and point out you probably did not bother to check out the rules/regs as you have not tried to get one--here is a rough breakdown what you were probably trying to avoid=
1)license test=between 100-200 dollars avg depending upon where your takeing it.
2)APPLICATION FEE=your looking at roughly 250-350 dollars avg
3)your gun=I prefer (due to military training primarly) and carry a 1911A1 style wepaon---typically between 350(lowend) to 1000+ dollars(highend)....fyi I paid 600 for mine brand new...
4)ammo/pracice time=50 rounds to a box for standard ammo for .45 is 15-23 dollars a box---SDF ammo (you kill the bad guy and not the bystander behind due to overpenetration) typically is 18-25 dollars for a box of 20........I shoot (per month) 300 rounds standard ammo and 100 rounds of SDF ammo to maintain my weapons skills. The fireing characteristics are different for Self Defence Fragmenting (SDF) ammo. You HAVE to practice on a consistent basis or your skills WILL degrade.
5)keeping up with current laws on CHL usage--The advent of the internet has made it much easier but you still have to read and take the time to understand it.
6)And last but not least=a BACKGROUND CHECK--yes on your app for a chl your info is turned in for a check and if your (for example) someone on parole or a former felon--you get dissapproved--there are many other reasons to but the biggie is--if you falsify your app--you face stiff fines and will most likely end up being "bubba's" best pal in prison.
Ill let you do the math but i spend a large chunk of money and time being a law abideing chl carrier. There is nothing "cool" about it and if anything it would be cheaper if I just carried illegally WHICH crimanals do. Just something to think about for you and others....Personally--if you dont like guns dont have any but dont force your way of liveing on me.

we have plenty enough laws in place but it the ENFORCEMENT of the laws that need to be pursued more agressively. Whatever happened to holding people responsible for their actions? I myself am a gun owne,hold a concealed hangun license, and have used/trained with firearms for a large part of my life. Well YES..they should but i seriusly doubt they will---look at the looting that went on...were they so concerned im sure that a group of people could have been formed BUT it seems to be they were more concerned with self survival than survival as a society.
As for the guns at children....its not your life on the line and your not haveing to worry about people who have already proven zealots to the point of being willing to sacrifce whomever or whatever it takes to kill american troops/coalition troops. Useing children as suicide bombers is tatic readily used by zelots/fanatics...

Hmmm...Why not make it interesting...bring back the Gladiator games...lets have them kill each other off and make some $$$ and provide entertainment as well.
I find them to be for the most part ineefective....why else would we have an overflowing prsion system in the US....If criminals/people knew the penalties were harsh and enforced with no reprieve I think ccrime would be much lower....punishments are far to "soft" and a burden on taxpayers...
Recommended punishments=
1)Murder/rape/grievous injury/other violent crime=Save the tax payers a buck and execute them on the spot---allow them 1 chance to appeal the decision if the evidence is not clear but for crimes in which the evidence is overwhelmingly clear---death
2)non violent/other crimes=hard labor...bring back the road gangs..have them have to work to earn money for the food they eat...make them pay back to society what is due...
