My name's Chris and I'm here to ask for some help Masking a book trailer for our published book DEAD MEAT. We are contemplating a few different styles but for now let me tell you a bit about the book. first the official summary.
The city of RiverâEUTMs Edge has been quarantined due to a rodent borne rabies outbreak. But it quickly becomes clear to the citizens that the infection is something much, much worse than rabies...
The townsfolk are attacked and fed upon by packs of the living dead. Labeling the infected residents âEUoebeesâEU for their tendency to travel in swarms, Gavin and Benny attempt to survive the chaos in RiverâEUTMs Edge while making their way north in search of sanctuary. No one knows what waits outside the quarantined zone, but Gavin and Benny know that to survive, they must escape.
These are a few links to some reviews of the book.

That should give you enough information to give you a feel for what the book is about. Now onto what we are looking for in the trailer. I should mention first that the script is done and can be sent to any who are interested in this project. As for the trailer, we are looking for a gritty almost industrial feel along with a bit or a paranoid feel as well. There will be four main characters. Two young men in their twenties as well as a twenty something female. The last character is a retired military type in his mid fifty's to sixty. I will expand on the character once you contact me. I'm thinking mostly quick to medium length shots or possibly done in all stills. I already have the title animation done.
This project will need:
Artist/Animator(s)
Voice actors - 2 young men, one older gentleman and a young female.
Compensation will include a paperback version of the book and possibly money.
For more info check out our Amazon page and Blog.
If you are interested or have further questions, please message me here with links to examples of your work be it voice or animation.

i could have a link on the page that says something like "Job form" have them click that and that could bring up an html form i make that will do that right?
sorry ment to put that in. send it to an email address.
what i really want to do is to have an name, email, option list (web graphics/logo/shirt) and a body to describe the work needed. then have them send the info to me via email.
Thank guys got it working.
I just need help with a form send button. I've looked up tuts for it but none were in as3.
made the cap changes and took out the "." yes those are the instance lables. i tested the mobie and got this error...
1084: Syntax error: expecting rightbrace before end of program.
also when testing movie it just plays through the wole 20 frames. heres what i have now.
stop();
addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickFunction);
function clickFunction(event:MouseEvent){
if(event.target == cotr_shirt){
gotoAndStop(2);
}else if(event.target == mm_shirt){
gotoAndStop(3);
}
@tenentenen
Ok I used your code. This is what I have.
top();
addEventListener.(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickfunction);
function clickFunction(event:MouseEvent){
if(event.target == cotr_shirt){
gotoAndStop(2);
}else if(event.target == mm_shirt){
gotAndStop(3);
}
cortshirt is the label for the button and 2 is the frame. same for the "if else" . The clickfunction test in the add event line is'nt highlighted blue. nor is the button label or frame number. what am i doing wrong?
Ya know, I've never seen buttons done like that before. Maybe that's because I code on a doc class, idk. I always have a different event listener for each button so I can specifically remove that event listener when needed.
You know that the listener will continue to listen for the event even after the buttons are gone :3
how do you do your's?
Hey there guys, need a bit of noob help.
I'm trying to make a portfolio using AS3. right now i'm having trouble with the gallery. I have made thumbs of my works into buttons and have all the buttons on the same layer all are also labeled. I have an AS layer with a stop on the first frame. What i want to happen is when you press a thumb, a larger version of the image shows on the right of the screen. I have all of those up. One each on their own frame and the frame is labeled as the pic. name. My problem is when i try to put...
on (release) {
gotoAndStop("picture label here");
}
It wont let me put any AS on the buttons. Any ideas how i can get that to work? The layers go as follows...
AS - 1 frame with a stop on it.
TITLES - 20 frames (text titles for each section
GALLERY - 20 frames (holds all thumbs (buttons)
PICS - 1st frame blank KF. next 18 frames each a labeled keyframe with larger pics on it.
That's it. How do i get my buttons to work?
thanks,
it failed to recognize my audio codec. how can i fix that? I'm using cs3
ok here's my problem.
Ive created a flash that i want to convert to a format useable by youtube (AVI, MPEG). Ive downloaded SUPER, a file converter, and tryed converting my SWF to an AVI. It didn't work. So then I tried an FLV. Also didnt work. It said i didn't have the correct codec or that my dementions weren't divisable by 16. I then tried exporting it from flash to an AVI. The quality was horrible and the animation (a masked movie symbol was not animated). I really want to get this up as soon as possible. I'm new to Flash so how can someone help me figure this out or is anyone willing to do this for me?
Ok so I know what to do once I get an FLV file but I dont understand and ive searched flash help and online is how do you create the FLV file? Sorry for the noob Q.
Hey guys I've created an animation that I want to cobvert to a useable youtube file. I've tried DLing a converter but it says I dont have the right codec. I'm using flash cs3. Can anybody help me?? I wanna get this up as soon as possible.
Hey guys. I need animation put to some audio I have ready for a fast paced zombie fight. The Plot is based of this. Just that one post. You will have almost full creativity. I only ask that you follow # simple rules...
-Keep the animation realistic and the style of art realism.
- Must be Black and White or faded/washed out color.
-Lots of blood and keep the blood dark red.
I can give you descriptions of Characters and zombies and let you hear the audio. If interested email Chris at contactdeadmeat@ yahoo.com. This will be posted here and on youtube.
Thanks,
got anything you can show that you've done lately?
The part in the post is a summary of the whole book. I should have an actual trailer script soon.
Art and animationstyle will be fleshed out when a group is formed. As of now think dark and gritty.
Hey people!
Chris here. One of the authors of Dead Meat an online serial novel. I'm in search of a Team of animators/artists, programers, sound editors and voices for the job. Everyone will obviously get fill credit in the animation and on the site for a job well done. I will be directing the short which should be at least 45 second long containing stills and or animations of actual scenes in the book. I'm looking to colaberate with some of you great newgrounds artists. Your imput on the project will definately be taken seriously. On that note here's a summary of the book with snippits of reviews.
Dead Meat, sponsored by Permiter Press, chronicles the journey of two survivors--Gavin and Benny--as the town of River's Edge falls to pieces around them. The destruction of River's Edge begins with an influx of rodents and "rabies" cases leading to a quarantine of the city. Those who remain in town are attacked and fed upon by packs of the living dead. Labeling the infected residents "bees" for their tendency to travel in swarms, Gavin and Benny must do their best to survive the chaos in River's Edge while making their way north in search of sanctuary. No one knows what waits outside River's Edge, but Gavin and Benny know that to survive, they must escape.

"So about the actual blog. Any joe-schmo can write us a zombie fiction that is nothing more than over processed Romero references vomited through a high school literacy level filled with nothing more than blood, guts, and death. However, it takes REAL talent to give us a zombie tale that is intriguing, entertaining, and ultimately...REAL." - Day of the woman
"I've seen a good number of zombie movies in my day and the story going on in this blog is 100 times better and more well thought out than the lot of them. While most zombie tales follow the same conventions and rules that we've all seen and tend to revel in the exciting and fun gore that a zombie outbreak provides, Dead Meat keeps the violence realistic and dare I say even tragic." - Freddy in Space
"Dead Meat is a contrast from other stories that I have read, it has all of the action and often the gore but it focuses more on the emotions and the collapse of the survivors, it's raw and unrelenting. The sense of realism thrusts you into a truly captivating story as if you were reading the memoirs of 2 survivors fighting a battle that until now had only existed in books and movies." - Revenant Magazine
"As you know, anything that has to do with zombies should have plenty of gore and Dead Meat hasn't disappointed in that department. The Williams brothers don't hold back in their descriptions and while not over the top, I think they do a pretty good job of giving us enough things to wince at." - Arcon Citadel
We will soon be finishing the book and we plan on publishing it. If you are interested, I suggest you read or atleast skim the book which can befound at www.deadmeatnovel.com. Send samples of your work to contactdeadmeat@yahoo.com. Serious inquires only please.

once again. if anyone is interested just PM me or email me at csw_designs@yahoo.com. You will be fully credited on site plus more. which can be worked out between you and I.
the link is http://deadmeatblog.blogspot.com/
How exactly would you add description? It's descriptive enough, relaying exactly what we want it to.
If you visit the site you'll notice that each chapter is very short. We keep them short because we know attentionspans aren't what they used to be. the longest so far is 3.5 pages. That could translate to 1 min-10 min long episodes. Depending on how it's edited.
doing a storyboard will be no problem I can do that easily. I just don't want to start one till I've got something comfirmed.
That paragraph needs a SHITLOAD of editing. I'm not trying to offend you, but you need a better style of writing than that. :
It doesn't actually need any editing. My brother, an english teacher / writer, will be using different writing techniques to create a feel of panic or other emotions. Many authors do this. That paragraph just happens to use one of these techniques
Now to expand on what I was asking for... I'd like to know if anyone would be interested in creating an animation four our story using the actual story as the script. I would be giving you all the smaller details of the story. What the characters look like how they move and what we'd like certain scenes to look or feel like.
So if you can animate or have a team who can do this and you're interested then email me at csw_designs@yahoo.com or PM me here with a link to some sample work and we can work something out. You will be fully credited on the site and possibly more. That will be worjked out when we have the greenlight to go.
Thanks again,
chris

Hey guys,
If anyone is interested I have a story my brother and I are writing. We are six chapters in and still going. Its based on two maincharacters trying to live through a zombie infestation. This isn't your run of the mill "Zombie slasher, hey lets use the coolest weapons we can find and kill kill kill!" . This story trys toi make a connection emotionally with the reader and also trys to make the reader care for thecharacters.
But don't worry, when gore is needed there will be gore. here's a sample of the latest chapter.
I see Benny, silent meditative Benny, running across the store's entrance with the bat in hand. I'm not sure if he yells in anger or yells to make sure someone hears him, to make sure he's alive. Before reaching the torso that scrounges for the asphalt, he leaps, bat held high over his head. For a second he floats then crashes down, bat first, landing the aluminum between the torso's shoulder blades. The former employee's shirt ripples as bones shatter. As ribs break, all I hear is the sound of a handful of snap pops hitting the ground. Another childhood moment overshadowed by death and violence.
If your interested Read the full story up till now here, http://deadmeatblog.blogspot.com/
This could easily be a series One episode per chapter.
So if your interested email me at csw_designs@yahoo.com or PM me here with a link to some work you've done and we can work it out from there. You will be fully credited on the site and possibly more. That too we will work out
Thanks for your time,
chris
The script is an on-going story I'm writing. The script is the story. I basicly would like to see someones artistic take on the story. This could easily be a series if one was interested in doing something like that. Herte's a summary of the story and a sample.
DEAD MEAT is an ongoing story about the infestation of zombies in the small town of River's Edge. Through the eyes of Gavin, radio broadcasts and news articles we witness the destruction of River's Edge and the lives of the people living there. As we follow Gavin we find he will take us beyond the city and into Hell.
Finishing his soda, he lobs the can into the street below. "Like I was saying, the fucker just stood there, head half caved in, blood running out of his ears and for a while nothing but standing. Then, his arm just drops. Goes limp or some shit. So I figured he was going down. I mean I hit that bastard hard! What happens next is un-fucking believable! He starts shuffling after me like I had just hit him with a fucking fly swatter. I said fuck him man, fuck the police! That shit wasn't kosher man! I came at him like a fucking brick wall! Didn't stop whaling on him till my bat cracked. His fucking head looked like a watermelon dropped from five stories high when I was done with him. That's when I fucking split!"
DEAD MEAT is written by my brother (english teacher/writer and I). It's focused on the survivors and noth he zombies. We are 5 chapters in (about 12 pages) we do a chapter a week as of now. In the future it may be more. There will obviously be action, story line twists and very tense moments.
To read ot just go here - DEAD MEAT
Once again just email me at csw_designs@yahoo.com or PM me.
Thanks,
Chris
