Take a look at my signature, and the quote there.

That says it all. We give up our freedoms, we do not have anything. We lose what America is SUPPOSED TO BE? If we lose our freedoms, what are we fighting for?

On that note, the 'Bush sucks!' and 'Fuck Bush' forums are irritating. It's funny how we can all sit around mouthing off in a forum, but yet...how many of us are registered to vote? I am. How many people voted in the presidential election? I did. How many people DO SOMETHING about the state of the country, rather than just bitch about it. I do. I'm proud of that.

Oh, right. If you're under 18, this doesn't count for you, at least the voting part. So don't get on my ass. ;)

Response to: Wicca Posted December 24th, 2002 in Politics

First of all, I agree that Wicca is relatively new, while Paganism itself is older. Much older. Wicca is just a 'doctrine' if you will, much like the doctrines of Christianity (Catholic, Lutheran, Protestant, Episcopal, Baptist, etc.). Saying Wicca is ancient is incorrect. The beliefs Wicca is based on ARE old, but not Wicca itself. I know this, I was a Solitary Practitioner for quite a few years.

Wicca is also not the worship of Satan. Wiccans do not believe in a devil. How can they worship Satan directly? They can't. From a Christian point of view, they /do/ worship the 'Horned God', which might look iffy, but to them? It is GOD, not a devil, or Satan himself. Most wiccans simply want harmony in their lives and everyone elses.

This brings me to the Yule/Christmas issue. I'll put it this way: At the time of Christ's birth, there was Judaism, of course. There were all sorts of religions, including paganism. The celebration of the Winter Solstice, or Yule, was around for ages and ages...then all of a sudden...Christ. There were of course pagan practitioners that believed in Christ, and wanted to celebrate His birthday. NOTE!! IMPORTANT!! We Christians DO KNOW that Christ was not born in December! There is no way for us to know what exact day He was born. None. So...when those pagan men and women decided to start celebrating the birth of Christ, rather than Yule...what would be more comfortable? Keeping it around the same time of year they're used to celebrating? Or shuffling around their traditions, putting it in the middle of June, or something? We're quite aware that Christmas is around the time of Yule. But we also know that it's more than a date. It doesn't matter when it's celebrated. It's honoring the birth of a Saviour, and loving Him.

This brings me to the 'Xtians' that people use. Since when has the word 'Christ' become an expletive? I'm sorry if there are bullshit fundamentalists out there that seem to tear down anything that isn't Christian, or isn't pure and holy. I'm truly sorry about that. But showing disresect right back is just setting a bad example, and is sinking to their level. Think about that.

Response to: Someone has hacked my account!!! Posted December 17th, 2002 in General

I don't know about the other things, but the only voting for 1 movie and being able to deposit isn't irregular. If you voted on more movies than necessary for the daily 10 exp. points, then it carries over for the next NG day.

As for the other things, I really don't know. Are you using more than one account? If you vote for a particular movie with one account, you can't vote for it again with the other.

I used to watch that show. I dont' watch much tv anymore....but.

Danny was raped by a priest. Mhmm. If I had half the problems some of these teachers do, I would be in an institution, not teaching public school in Boston.

BAH!

Response to: so... who here plays guitar? Posted December 17th, 2002 in General

I don't play the guitar, but I do have quite a bit of voice training. I know that if you use a p2p file sharing program, you can get some sheet music and tabs and stuff from that, if you look right. And that also depends on what people are sharing at the time, of course.

I'm bored, so if I happen to find some, I'll post again and say so.

So why are you learning? Just for the fun of it?

Response to: Abortion Cont'd Posted December 6th, 2002 in Politics

This answer could be a bit mottled by personal beliefs and spirituality. So I'll give my answer in two parts.

The first part: What I -really- feel and think, spiritually and otherwise. *grin*

It's my personal belief that all life has a purpose, and that God knows us before we're even conceived. (Jeremiah 1:5 - 'Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you...') Scientifically speaking, I believe it's a life right at conception (not right when the sperm is introduced to the body, but actual conception).

That being said...I think the question is a little more broad. I personally think that an unborn child should be considered just that, especially once the limbs and organs begin to form/are formed. Have you ever seen the feet of a 10 week old fetus? They're hardly taller than the cursor proceeding these words as I write, but ten tiny toes can be counted, and they're perfectly formed little feet. It's amazing, in my eyes. :) Where abortions are concerned, I dislike the idea of third (or even second) trimester abortions, because by then the child can most definitely feel pain.

Good lord, now you have been pondering this. I'll have to get back to you again. :)

Response to: Abortion Posted December 5th, 2002 in Politics

Very nicely put.

About the rape issue:

I once knew a woman who's daughter was the result of a rape. She held no resentment toward her, and she had a very positive attitude: 'It wasn't my daughter's fault. Why should I blame her, and take it out on her?'

In the case of a pregnancy due to rape, it's harder to be staunchly against abortion. (Not that I'm staunchly against it, anyhow, but I think you get the point.) Most of the time, when women find out they're pregnant as a result of an accident...that child ends up being the best thing that ever happened to her. This, at least for me, wouldn't change at all if it were the result of rape. I wouldn't look at the child as a curse, or reminder of something awful.

I'd instead look at the new baby as a blessing, something positive out of a negative thing. :)

Sorry everyone but sometimes we humans just make me laugh a little. Species are so cute at this age.

Heh, my sentiments exactly.

It's funny how so many people label the american people...yet at the very same time they're placing that label on us, they're making themselves look just as intolerant as they believe us to be.

You said it perfectly!

Response to: Smoking Posted December 5th, 2002 in Politics

I didn't want to quote the above post, simply because it would take so much space. :)

Why do I think it's inappropriate anywhere? Well, in some places, it's not. Take a cigar bar, for example. There's plenty of those here, and it's obvious that smoking should be allowed there. Places like that.

But as for Joe Schmoe sitting next to me while I'm smoking? I don't care if I know him or not...SOMEONE does. And while the smoke from my one or two or even ten cigarettes might not make much of a difference, I still have enough respect for human life to want to protect it. It doesn't matter if I know that person or not.

The bottom line: Smoking is unhealthy, much more unhealthy than a lot of other toxins. Some use alcohol as an example; it's proven that a small amount of alcohol a day helps your heart. Some use marijuana as an example; it's proven helpful in many medical situations and I'm proud to live in a state that allows the use of marijuana for medical purposes. There's many other things that are illegal to use recreationally, but are used for medical purposes: opiates is a big one.

Am I arguing that cigarettes be illegal? NO. I don't think taking MORE freedoms away will help at all. But I do think that asking smokers to partake ouside is fair. Second hand smoke is dangerous, no matter what.

And it really shouldn't matter if you know and love that person or not. It's still a human life.
