Hey! So I'm starting a side project with a vocalist friend that is very in the vein of Death From Above 1979, DZ Deathrays and all that. The only problem with it is that I've been taught how to mix and master so it all sounds clean. This isn't what we want here, I want something dirty and distorted and clipped.
Now most people would say "Run it out into a tape machine or something else yaddayaddayadda" and that is well and good HOWEVER I don't have access to that, everything that I should do has to be on my computer, and yes I have iZotope Vinyl.
So do you guys have any tips on getting a rad lo fi sound?

So I'm currently mixing this song that I've done for my band, I really want it to be dense and full of little nuances and have an overall beautiful ambient quality, a lot like the Sound Awake album by Karnivool, produced by Forrester Savell which is also my favourite album in terms of production which got me thinking. What is your favourite album or song that has some absolutely fantastic engineering and mixing on it? Another one would be anything by Owl City, he is a genius. If you know the producer than post that as well!

I recently dug up my old SNES and I was playing some Super Street Fighter II. I had to fight E. Honda and I was so panicked about it and I couldn't help but wonder why.
Then I lost, and he laughs, and I remember the flash backs I had as a child and whenever he laughed I got creeped the fuck out.
