Patriotic Speech Posted November 12th, 2006 in General

While I do not agree with everything the government does these days I still believe that America is, by and large, a positive force and influence in the world.

There is a speech By Gordon Sinclair, a Canadian broad caster, that he wrote shortly after the United States pulled out of Vietnam. He wrote it because he was upset with the way other countries were verbally bashing America for it's involvement in the war, especially those that we had helped in the past.

To say that this speech made an impact would be an unforgivable understatement. America as a whole embraced it. The speech was printed in newspapers and played several times daily on the radio and television for weeks. It was popular because it said exactly what America needed to hear at the time.

The speech became popular again shortly after 9/11. It was as relevant then as it was those many years ago after Vietnam. It is relevant even today as the Iraq war drags on.

Here is that speech. All I ask is that you read it, I ask you to do this because I think this is exactly what America needs to hear again in these difficult times.

********************************************* *****************

"This Canadian thinks it is time to speak up for the Americans as the most generous and possibly the least appreciated people on all the earth.

Germany, Japan and, to a lesser extent, Britain and Italy were lifted out of the debris of war by the Americans who poured in billions of dollars and forgave other billions in debts. None of these countries is today paying even the interest on its remaining debts to the United States.

When France was in danger of collapsing in 1956, it was the Americans who propped it up, and their reward was to be insulted and swindled on the streets of Paris. I was there. I saw it.

When earthquakes hit distant cities, it is the United States that hurries in to help. This spring, 59 American communities were
flattened by tornadoes. Nobody helped.

The Marshall Plan and the Truman Policy pumped billions of dollars into discouraged countries. Now newspapers in those countries are writing
about the decadent, war mongering Americans.

I'd like to see just one of those countries that is gloating over the erosion of the United States dollar build its own airplane. Does any other country in the world have a plane to equal the Boeing Jumbo Jet, the Lockheed Tri-Star, or the Douglas DC10? If so, why don't they fly
them? Why do all the International lines except Russia fly American Planes? Why does no other land on earth even consider putting a man or woman on the moon?

You talk about Japanese technocracy, and you get radios. You talk about German technocracy, and you get automobiles. You talk about American technocracy, and you find men on the moon-not once, but several times-and safely home again.

You talk about scandals, and the Americans put theirs right in the store window for everybody to look at. Even their draft-dodgers are not pursued and hounded. They are here on our streets, and most of them, unless they are breaking Canadian laws, are getting American dollars from ma and pa at home to spend here.

When the railways of France, Germany and India were breaking down through age, it was the Americans who rebuilt them. When the Pennsylvania Railroad and the New York Central went broke, nobody loaned them an old caboose. Both are still broke. I can name you 5000 times when the Americans raced to the help of other people in trouble. Can you name me even one time when someone else raced to the Americans in trouble? I don't think there was outside help even during the San Francisco earthquake.

Our neighbors have faced it alone, and I'm one Canadian who is damned tired of hearing them get kicked around. They will come out of this thing with their flag high. And when they do, they are entitled to thumb their nose at the lands that are gloating over their present troubles. I hope Canada is not one of those."

Stand proud, America!

I thought this was pretty good. May I hear some of your thoughts about this?

Oh well. Hackers usually target the rooms entitled: No hackers, noobs only, hackers suck, e.t.c. Just go to rooms that dont have names like that and most of the time you wont encounter any. If you are going to report them make sure to get their IP address.

If you need to ask then I'm going to say no. Next time if you post in a group to ask for membership how about next time sticking around so that if you do get accepted you're active.

I posted and somebody said they were gunna look over my posts. I cant find what page it was on however. If somebody would look over them again that would be nice but if you have a strong dislike of me and dont want me to join thats fine I guess.

I sent them to McAfee, and I have posted about this on another forum. That forum is a little slower than this one but they have very experienced people there so I will wait. Anyway, I am guessing it means that the Worm/Virus has been removed from the files and the files are still located on my computer?

Computer Help Posted September 5th, 2006 in General

I just recently scanned my other PC with McAfee Virus Scan Plus and came up with 4 detections. 2 of them were removed and 2 were quarintined. I am wondering if the 2 quarintined ones pose any threat to me at all? And if I should send them to McAfee?

Here are the 2 quarintined files:

File name: A.Zip
Original Location: C:\Program Files\WINUPDATES
Quarintined Date: 9/4/2006 9:58:18 PM
Sent to McAfee: No
Detection Names: W32/Alcan.worm!p2p (Virus), W32/Alcan.worm!p2p (Virus)

File Name: LIMEWIRE 4 12 4 PRO.ZIP
Original Location: C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\CODY\SHARED
Quarintined Date: 9/4/2006 9:37:09 PM
Sent to McAfee: No
Detection Names: W32/Alcan.worm!p2p (Virus), W32/Alcan.worm!p2p (Virus)

Response to: Why is Hitler so Popular? Posted July 19th, 2006 in General

I dont think that him being in so many flashes is because of popularity, its more because of its easy to make fun of. I am assuming you are directing this towards the Hitler Around the World in 80 Days series? That is an example of how easy it is to make fun of him. I have yet to discover the fun/funniness(sp) in those flashes however...
