Processor question Posted October 21st, 2007 in General

How can I determine the Socket size of my processor without having to take my PC apart? I don't even know what "Socket" refers to anyhow. Also, the current processor I have is an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+. Would I see any significant difference if I upgraded to a 5000+? Or possibly a 5200+?

Anti-virus: Bit Defender and Kaspersky.
Spybot Search & Destroy is good at Anti-spyware and Anti-malware along with some weak viruses and browser hijacks.
Ad-Aware is pretty good as well.
