What makes a good Halloween Flash? Posted September 25th, 2009 in Game Development

What do you like to see in Halloween flash movies and games? What do you WANT to see? Would you rather a Halloween game or movie? Do they need to be funny, scary, or both? What needs to be in a flash movie/game to make it entertaining? Why inm past years did you like certain Halloween flashes? Any answers to these would be appreciated as I want to make a Halloween flash as soon as possible and i want to make it absoloutely brilliant. THANKS

Madness 3D Posted September 23rd, 2009 in General

First off i want to say thanks for the frontpage. That was a surprise. Im a little disappointed though as its VERY unlikely that its going to win an award with such a low score. Some of the reviews have been saying (in simple, less harsh words) that it needs improvement. This thread is for ideas, comments, etc for this years game and a possible 3D game for next year. Anything i need to change, add etc. Thanks a lot.

Are the rules for entering the competition simply this:

It must have Madness 09 background
It must be in the 09 collection (it will likely get added if it has the background anyway right?)

So my submission has the Madness 09 background and im going to ask in author comments for it to be added to collection. If say, i submitted it to the portal now and it had the Flash Ads preloader, would it still be in the running for the competition. And will i be penalised at all for submitting early?

I messaged Tom with this question but i doubt hell reply in time so if anyone else could answer it would be much appreciated

How to improve my Madness Game Posted September 20th, 2009 in Game Development

How can i improve my Madness 09 submission. I dont want to give too much away about the game (Sorry and i know most of you will be like how can we halp you if we dont know what it is) but you run around as Hank and shoot Zombies n stuff. You have to survive as long as you can but still kill as many as you can. After you die it goes to a GAME OVER screen and it displays your final score. Than you can play again. How can i make it better. What should i add (Keeping in mind the deadlines a couple of days away). Should i have it that when you die, you could be given a title (Like Zombie Crusher, or Wimp , or Jesus' Enemy, etc), dependent on your final score. Should i have in-game medals (Not NG medals). What should i add to make it funner?

I have a blue aura (light).

But in all actuality, this thread is completely useless like the trivia you're passing and I doubt that "blue makes you smarter" because seriously, how does it make you smarter. I can understand the notion, but the statement is incredibly vague.

No joke, studies have shown that children who undertake tests in a room with a blue roof will recieve better results.

Well the only problem with making large-scale 3D games with the code i have is that it gets very repetitive, because the levels wouldnt differ very much from each other, because im not able to make different platforms and such. I have made a couple of 3D shooters, but can never be bothered finishing them, and they look pretty gay anyway...

Whats your favourite type of BBS signature which you have seen? And which ones do you reckon are cool and not? Oh, and which type would you like to have the most? Like for example, do you like Trophy Cabinet signatures (Shows trophies won), or do you like Staff Signature Signatures (Displays which popular Newgrounders have commented on persons profile). Those are my two favs. Dont say my sig cos it makes you seem like a tool.

Now EVERYONES going to say My Sig
