batteries last as long as AAA or AA batteries last or whatever. No tracing. I got it cause it was big. I kind of want a Wacom so I can trace and such.

Also, I dropped it like a million times, and I was just using it yesterday and it worked great. Once it wasn't working at all, but I found out it was just the batteries in the pen.

I have that Aiptek... It works great, I got it cuz it it's bigger, you don't get as good of software, but you get some cool stuff... I had to get them to send me a new pen cuz it was crappin' out. But it works fine.
