I'd say that we shouldn't felonize illegal immigration, and that we should certainly ALLOW them to work towards legal residency and then, eventually, citizenship

That's not what's happening. These people are saying that the immigrants have no right to protest, yet the 1st amendment states that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances." Who are the people? Clearly, congress can't abridge the rights, but are "the people" just citizens, or just legal residents or all residents? I lean towards the latter (all residents), at least, for this amendment.

Response to: racism against whites Posted May 1st, 2006 in Politics

Racism against whites is just as bad as any other racism. Black hatred of whites, especially in the context of Farrakhan (sp.) is just as bad as white hatred of blacks.

Not neccessarily. It doesn't require trickle down theory to know that everyone gets richer over time, at least, in theory.

Quite so. Illegals come here to better their lives. We shouldn't be turning them away! We should embrace them and their willingness to come here-to work for us and our nation!

Really? It passed already? I thought it was just proposed legislation.

I said apparently. I had heard that it had been passed. "Possessing marijuana, cocaine, and even heroin will no longer be a crime in Mexico if the drugs are carried in small amounts for personal use, under legislation passed by the Mexican Congress.
The measure given final passage by senators late Thursday allows police to focus on their battle against major drug dealers, the government says, and President Vicente Fox is expected to sign it into law." (Boston Globe)

Fox just has to sign it, then it's law. Still, it seems kind of useless to let people posess these substances if they can't be sold.

Yeah, I know. My question is: Why are so many drugs that don't actually physically harm you (and are not addictive) illegal?

Uh... didn't LSD had the risk of causing severe mental imbalance after a not very prolonged use?

"The drug sometimes spurs long-term or even permanent changes in a user's personality and life perspective." (Wikipedia.org) I see.

Still: "Although LSD is generally considered nontoxic, it may temporarily impair the ability to make sensible judgments and understand common dangers, thus making the user susceptible to accidents and personal injury."

Ok, so treat it like alcohol, that's the only really neccessary precaution.

True. Growth, at least in a liberal market economy, is essentially inevitable. So, presumably, wage increases are inevitable too.

The minimum wage has decreased in value over the years. Simply put, yes, those on the minimum wage ARE getting poorer (if they work 1 job).

Mind you, those are the legal immigrants making minimum wage.

How do YOU know if they're legal?

The illegals make only a fraction (less than half, IIRC) than that.

Again, source?
