War Czar Recommends Draft On Npr. Posted August 10th, 2007 in Politics

Bush's war czar, Lt. Gen. Douglas Lute, said, on "All Thinngs Considered" (you know what that is if you listen to NPR, as we all ought to): "I think it makes sense to certainly consider it [a draft.]

Seriously? That's cool.

I dunno if it's just me, but when you walk out of a movie like that you think to yourself: "I WISH someone would come and mess with me!"

Such a good film.

There's hate crime legislation for every other group. Lots of those mandate additional sentences, annd that's just further protection for victims and a sign to criminals that what they do will be taken seriously.

This bill should most certainly be approved.

Saw the Bourne Ultimatum last night. It was pretty good, about as good as the first and second ones, and it ends nicely, too.

I highly, highly reccomend it.

Yeah, that was pretty sweet.

Which one did you see?

I saw the one with the girl with one leg. I know that sounds rude, but it was pretty memorable. And the African American attorney who went to Amherst College (an incredibly tough and expensive school, so the guy has got to be smart or have connections).

I was hoping that the girl with one leg won it, honestly. My reasons are beyonnd that single factor though. The attorney makes quite a bit more than she does, and he's had lots of opportunity and taken advantage of it (rightfully so!).

Oversensitivity is silly, especially when the objectionable object is merely silly or, really, just a trifling little thing. A billboard depicting a woman's rear is perfectly benign.

NATO is a strategic alliance. Today, Russia is involved in NATO, as are numerous non-member states. It's a useful diplomatic tool and provides us with a large group of supporters if the US takes a rational, unavoidable action (given some consultation prior to the act).

Again, what the fuck are you talking about? How does wealth = obesity? I think they just eat healthier meals over there...

Very, very poor nations don't really have obesity problems. That's pretty clear. He's just extended this fact to make it wrong...the UK and US have similar GDP per capita, so the obesity rates will be pretty high (owing that the GDPs per capita are high in both nations).

I'm not defending him, though.

"Elective" Sex Changing Surgery Posted July 31st, 2007 in Politics

Are sex changing surgeries TRULY elective (in the sense of being unecessary)? Or do they serve a legitimate purpose?

Sexual reassignment is medically legitimate, and I most certainly support the choices of others to alter their physiological gender as they so wish.

I just can't see how people get off with telling people how to control their own bodies.

Ok, Hitler was a brilliant politician...his insanity, criminality and evil nature doesn't take away from that, especially considering that being a politician isn't necessarily a good thing.
