ok maybe that sounds dumb, but if they are not using tazers because they are not as effective as guns it makes sense to develop better tazers with more "firepower"

Homosexual men's brains developed like that of a woman in the womb, there is science behind this.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prenatal_hormones_and_sexual_orientation
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/INAH_3

Heterosexual male and heterosexual female behavior is not necessarily limited to sexual orientation, there are other behaviors, the emphasis on appearance common among heterosexual females and homosexual males is something that is observable, as well as the relative lack of emphasis shown by homosexual females and heterosexual males, this is subjective anecdotal evidence but it is clear enough that you would be kidding yourself if you insist there is no difference and we are all clean slates etcetera...

The notion of the clean slate had noble beginnings based in promoting equality, but to me equality is about accepting other people's differences and understanding one another, which we can't do if we can't even talk about our differences.

I don't think there is a point and it will create a lot of hassle and inefficiency, it will mean someone in Newcastle who wants to go to university in Glasgow will have to pay fees, it means someone driving a few miles to see their nan will have to get a passport, I think people are blowing minor things out of proportion, I don't think Salmond is much more or much less crooked than any other politician, I think actual problems like corruption, misinformed voters and incompetence would be better solved if we stayed together and worked together.

I always roll up the tissue into a sponge and wet wipe. I bring bottled toilet water and my own toilet rolls with me everywhere I go for this purpose, when I have to use the public poop room.

This one time someone stole my bottle and I found it later uncapped and spilled on the sidewalk.

Response to: The effect of patent trolling Posted May 28th, 2014 in Politics

Patent laws are needed to make sure someone who spends $millions on R&D gets a return on their investment.

On the other hand someone with a patent can hold out for more, meaning the patent won't be used for years, equally potential buyers can claim the value of the patent is far lower than it really is causing the patent owner to hold out for just reasons but this is less likely due to competition between buyers.

Then of course there are patent trolls, but then we could fix that with a "loser pays fees" system.

Though I'm not an expert, just saying.

Response to: do you think an uprising in the USA Posted April 18th, 2014 in Politics

Realistically, the economy would have to collapse first.

Speculatively, there is a chance that new technology could change the world in ways unseen that will cause revolt, like maybe new technology for controlling masses of people, it used to be that you could grabs your SKS and go inna woods, if millions of people did this you'd have to wreck the economy to stop the insurgents, but now you could in theory have tons of drones flying everywhere with IR cameras rooting everyone out, you could chip people like you chip pets.

I think this is more likely than some new ideology inspiring people to rebel, ideologies don't have as much effect as some people seem to think their own particular ideology will, though if someone actually comes up with new ideas for a change it might have an impact on politics, though it is unlikely to incite revolt unless the economic collapses or something.

I think the reason he ate people was just to try some to see what it tastes like, you would do the same, cannibalism isn't a big deal.

I think this is the reason for your opinion here. I've heard all this before, though it is a legitimate issue. Many people feel as though rich powerful countries have bullied poorer countries, and are perhaps responsible for their poverty.

So what is actually going on? Why is Thailand so much better off than Cambodia? Why is Hong Kong and Singapore so wealthy compared to their neighbors? These states had poor power projection and were also subjected to skewed trade deals, skewed trade deals don't help but they are hardly a significant factor. It seems the major factor is security, particularly during the cold war.

In conclusion, the west is capable of evil but being democratic this suppresses it greatly, we should remain vigilant. If you're looking for a prime culprit though you might want to blame the soviet union. The west's support of dictators like Pinochet and Mobuto evaporated after the end of the cold war, the support for these dictators was to counter-balance the activities of the soviet union, not for the purposes of exploitation. As for skewed trade deals, they are bad, we should go for true laissez faire free trade rather than the pick and mix approach lobbyists want.

If you care about progress in the real world and lifting the poor out of poverty you must heed my conclusion. If you only care about looking edgy and "sticking it to the man", then you are wasting your time, possibly embarrassing the cause.
