Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn
The best role-playing game of all time that was released in 2000, the last years of the pixel sprite graphic era. When I first saw the box, I thought it was a mix of Warcraft and Diablo.
When I first tried it out, I couldn't figure it out so I had a mephit kick my ass to Toronto. Afterwards, I learned how to do it and I got endless hours of fun. It's still one of my favorite games that survived so long in my life.
It's based off the second Advanced Dungeons and Dragons rules. As you know, it was a nice play of D&D without having to read all the confusing stuff. I escaped Irenicus's dungeons with some people in my party and went on quests to help the citizens of Amn. There were seemingly endless quests that held my interest, romances that were interesting chats and well designed levels and story.
Years after beating the main game plotline with a Half-Orc Barbarian, I set out on the internet to try out some modifications. It really made the game more interesting and more enjoyable. I'm currently looking for some item editors to make the items of my dreams but to keep it balanced so it doesn't ruin the game. I'm very happy to see the Baldur's Gate II community still alive and kicking strongly.
This game has influenced me so much like Warcraft II. It introduced me to the Forgotten Realms franchise that includes books like the Legend of Drizzt, related fantasy games, fantasy themes and many other things. It has opened a whole new world to me and influenced my teen years.
I was also shocked to find out that Baldur's Gate I & II plus expansions were made in Canada and Forgotten Realms is a Canadian-made franchise. I'd figured it was another American company but damn! Something worthwhile coming out of Canada! Cellardoor6, SUCK IT!
I just recently purchased Tales of the Sword Coast and soon I'll install a modification that will combine the whole trilogy into one for the ultimate adventure.
