When you're back is against the wall, you fight that much harder. Now? Now it's just complacency, stagnation, and denial.

I'm just hoping Hogan can do something to boost the popularity of TNA. If you look at some of the talent they have there, it would be awesome for them to have more exposure. People like AJ Styles, Samoa Joe and Christopher Daniels are all people I'd want to see more of.

Just wait till you see what happens with The Rumble and tell me they haven't lost their damn minds.

Ooo, have I missed something here?

It doesn't make sense to feel hostility towards TNA. Ideally, we should all want TNA to be getting better in order to provide some actual competition for WWE.

If history has taught us anything, it's that Vince works alot better when he has someone to compete with. I mean, look what we have now: The whole company is TV-PG, there is no blood, and storylines aren't even particularly clever. Even within a PG rating you can make compelling storylines, but Vince is complacent with awful storylines that probably even make kids embarrassed. I mean, there's a drawf, who everyone treats like a child. It's pretty awful when you think about it.

It's got to the point where, in order to get a better WWE, we either need Vince to die and pass responsibility to someone less crazy (and in all likelihood, creative control would go to Steph and we'd still have shitty storylines, apart from if Trips stepped in), or we need TNA to become a company who can actually provide something that rivals WWE. And I don't like to wish harm on anyone, so I'd much prefer TNA to become a respectable second choice, even if that scenario isn't even on the horizon.

Topic: Question Time

Posted: 10/23/09 01:03 PM

Forum: General

The BBC were absolutely right to have Nick Griffin on Question Time. I don't see how it would be acceptable for the media to suppress a party based on their own ideas of what is acceptable. The BBC were right to allow the public to form their own opinion on whether the BNP are bad or not. What does it say if they don't allow Nick Griffin on? I think it says "Sorry British public, you don't have the collective intelligence to listen to Nick Griffin and know he's a cunt".

I'm especially glad they had him on, because earlier yesterday my friends asked me who I was going to vote for at the next election, and I said I hadn't given it much thought. Truly, I can't think of any party that deserves to run this country, so not voting is a pretty easy conclusion to come to. But then I saw Question Time, and I was reminded that apathy is just as bad as voting BNP.

I can't justify voting Tory over Labour over Lib Dem or whoever, but I equally can't justify allowing BNP garner a comparatively higher percentage of votes thanks to my apathy. I think this is part of why the BNP have had more success recently, but even though I can't stand the main parties, I hate the BNP more, and I will vote for someone just in a bid to prevent the BNP gaining anything.

Those things conflict pretty wildly. So the government want people to be alert and awake for work, but also want people to take a drug which makes people idiots, and also coincidentally causes alot of people to call into work on a Monday with "the flu"? And how can you be productive at work when you're dying of cancer?

I lost all hope that they'd return a long time ago. I feel that my sig worked a lot better when it was animated, but I can see that the animated system was easy to exploit and make annoying sigs.

They showed with the redesign that they were trying to make the sigs less obnoxious, making them less tall and not animated.

I still miss mine though.

At 10/19/09 03:01 PM, Gagsy wrote: Quite right.

Though i must say, even if this became a real discriminating job crime, you just know the modeling world will STILL fire/not hire models who are anything over a size 10. So if they did go ahead with this bullshit they would need to address modeling because well any fat person could try and get a lawsuit against a big fashion company based on the fact that they didn't get the job because they were fat.

Things like that will be one of the reasons it will impossible to implement. To get rid of "fatism" within modelling industries would take the restructuring of the whole business. Obviously people who fall on the wrong side of size 10 can still be beautiful. Like the Boots adverts show, anyone can be beautiful, but changing the whole fucking face of modelling would be impossible. You'd get ugly fat people trying to get in and claiming discrimination, it would be a mess.

Also, God forbid they introduce fat person quotas for employers. I'm not sure of the extent of quotas for women or minorities in the workplace, but I'm certain they exist in places, and I find the concept fucking ridiculous. It's a kick in the teeth to people who aren't in the minorities, and it's fucking insulting to be employed to fill some quota rather than on actual skill. It causes a rift too. I'd be pissed if someone who couldn't tell their arse from their elbow got into the same position I trained extensively for.

Absolutely. It's why I don't visit the doctor much actually. Even when it's for a separate thing, she always insists on bringing up my weight. It's her job to yeah and while I might not be comfortable with it, it's her job to ensure I have good health.

I haven't been to the doctor in time. I don't have so many health problems, and the doctors scares me for other non-weight related reasons.

At 10/19/09 02:11 PM, Gagsy wrote: If they're going to have 'fatism', then they'll need an 'ism' for every single thing we can insult a person one.

This is what I was thinking. They say in the article, we need to ban "fatism" because people are attacked for being fat. Being assaulted for being fat is illegal, they're just trying to turn it into a hate crime. They're eventually going to segregate everything and make anything bad that happens a hate crime.

I'm pretty divided on the issue though. On one hand, you have that people who choose not to lose weight don't deserve to be protected from ridicule. I myself am a bit on the hefty side, but I wouldn't expect someone to be locked up for asking me if I wanted another doughnut. I make no effort to lose weight, it's your right to use whatever retarded, unoriginal insult you can come up with. In fact, I encourage anyone to come up with funny original insults against fat people, the most annoying thing is overused insults.

Discriminating against fat people in terms of getting a job is wrong though. If the job requires some level of fitness, then by all means choose a fit person, but I don't find it acceptable to refuse someone a cashier job purely on aesthetics.

Doctors should be allowed to tell you you're a fat cunt though, it's their job to not let you die.

Splashing people with muddy road water? I'm sure that's perfectly acceptable. I just walk around with my mouth open and pointed in the air during rain storms and get a free drink on my way to work!!!

It's a complicated relationship. Only things which haven't advanced get smaller, whereas new inventions begin big and get smaller. Which is why I have an MP3 player which can play videos and has a 30GB hard drive but which also risks falling through the floor if I drop it. They probably make them smaller nowadays though.

We never got one when they split and now that they are both singles champions this will make for a very interesting match. I think if they are given time that they will pull off one hell of a bout.

It makes me wish wrestling was still a business of slow builds though. I think they could have had Miz and Morrison encounter each other at a few PPV's, maybe get a few cheap shots in (verbally and physically), and really build up some bad blood between them. Maybe have them attack the other on their own show.

Get it to a point where the GMs of either brand are forced to make a match between them. Play up the fact there is a brand split, but say the only way to stop them going onto shows they aren't meant to is to have a grudge match at a PPV.

Wishful thinking is bad though, because WWE creative are bad and only plan a few weeks ahead. And they don't really have to have an attention span because they cater to 5 year ol- oh look a squirrel.
