If art were to remain my profession by the time im a wizened old man, it would be kind of sad not to have reached some level of recognition.

you should claim compensation or something!
I mean, after all, you sign a license when you post something to the art portal!

Response to: Art Forum Lounge Posted January 9th, 2010 in Art

But like, there were no attached files or any virus or anything like that!
And if this is just a prank by some 13-year-old kid trying to be funny, he sure put a lot of work trying ...
So if this is not the real thing ...
WHAT THE FUCK IS IT?!

Also, according to the art forum rules:
MS Paint drawings had better be funny and well thought out or else may be removed.

Did you even try to get it look like Luis?
Haven't you seen what all the others have posted?
Did you even read the opening post? (more than just "design my icon")

You should try getting some references, also, you should try getting the outline over the character. Look at the level weapons to the left ...

Well, I don't know about Angelus-Mortis, but personally, I take one color, paint the whole area I want with that color, open the color-panel, lower saturation, and depending on if I want shadow or highlight, I lower/rise the brightness of the color.

I have to disagree. A lot of people are extremely judgmental when it comes to manga or just outright hate it. They will even discredit a //good// artist just because he/she draws "manga", no matter how realistic the "manga" in question is.

still, I don't think over 50% of the art forum regs downright hate manga. But yeah, You've got a point

it's just that experienced artists usually says that manga is not a good way of learning anotomy/proportions.
I disagree again. Manga artists are far better off in terms of traditional learning than most of the "average joe" cartoon artists that NG churns out. Manga is much closer to realism. It isn't nearly as much of a crutch as cartooning, either, in the sense that you can't give a guy 4 fingers with no joints and call it "style". I think a mediocre manga artist can produce better realism on the spot than a mediocre cartoon artist.

Again, you're completly right. comparing to the regular cartoon "styles" commonly showed at the site, manga is more towards the realistic style.

I forgot the rule "think before posting"
perhaps next time I won't get ahead of myself ...

I don't know what you think this is, but it's an art forum (Aka: Not flash forum)
Most of the users use photoshop.
Also, most people don't hate manga style, it's just that experienced artists usually says that manga is not a good way of learning anotomy/proportions. (Plus a ridiculus high percent of all unprofecional manga drawings are bad, just bad)

Please feel free to discuss any drawing style (anything related to art in general)

I would say It's about 1-3 hours of work. Spread it over a week, and you only have to do 15-30 minutes each day.
And many users spend that time on the forum anyways ...
