I have yet to see anyone say why it's improper for people from the US to be called Americans. All I've heard is that it's improper for US citizens to say that we're the only Americans and that's not implied by calling ourselves Americans. All that means is that we're from the American continents, and is technically correct. Any implication that we claim to be the only Americans based on the fact that we call ourselves Americans is derived from the person who is hearing it. Nothing about calling ourselves Americans has any bearing on what other people are allowed to call themselves in our mind.

Put ice on it and take some ibuprofen. Both of those are anti-inflammatories, so that should help with the swelling.

I was at a friend's birthyday party last night and I was talking with some people I met that night. We were just talking and having a good time and in the conversation, I mentioned that I was 19. The four of them that I didn't know where stunned. They thought I was much older than that. One person thought I was 23 and that was the lowest estimate. Another person thought that I was anywhere from 28-30. Now, I always knew that I looked a little older than I was, but I wasn't expecting that.
