Though it is good that the country is trying to be pay back minorities and blacks for the years of slavery and segregation they had to endure, but this is not the right way to pay it back.
I think the best way for them to be paid is to never put them in the same position as the government had in the past and give them freedom and equal opportunity as long as the US stands. The author says they suffered for 300 yrs, so just treat them as equals for 300 yrs and beyond.

This is a lie. The guns which are used by the majority of gang members are NOT legally purchased in the first place. You're dead right about the banning of guns would increase the market for illegally purchased guns.
Here in the US there was an amendment made that banned the selling of all alcoholic beverages instilled by the now dead Whig Party (these guys make the Republican/conservatives look like Atheists liberals). This ban not only gave the Government too much power over social behaviour, but it also helped strong-arm many of the infamous mafia organizations and gave internal power to local gangs, because they had a monopoly over the booze business.
So I believe this is another misguided attempt by a central government to solve a minor problem with a shitty idea.

I have no quirrel with Europe, but when I see our differences and bitter mentalities regarding one another it would be best if America and Europe relinquish all ties. America has a huge trade base with Asia and South America, so it would not prove to be detrimental to the US, while Europe is free to trade among themselves, so they would not be financially harmed in anyway as well.

Second, I thought it was Congress that had the power for such vet benefit cut-offs, and not the Executive Branch, which you state is responsible for this action? You need to learn your checks-and-balances and how the Federal Government functions. Another thing that strikes me funny is how Kerry, who you undoubtly supported, was against the bill which would re-supply our troops in Iraq, and voted against this proposal. When he was confronted on his vote against the initiative on this issue he said this line "Well, I really voted for it before I voted against it."

Thirdly, you're taking Jean Schmidt's comment out of context (as all fanatical liberals do). What she was conveying is that she visited the troops in Iraq and this proposal by the left-wing and Murtha to leave Iraq was something a cut-and-run coward would do and the very idea was eroding the troop's morale. I am pro-choice when the mother's internal organs are in danger or some other defect during the first and second tri; however, I do not see how anyone with any sense of humanity can be for partial-birth abortion, when the infant's no longer just a fetus and actually has a fully-functioning cerebral cortex, indicating it has the ability to perceive and think on a subconscious and conscious level.

Socialism is basically communism and marxism, in other words, it's the same shit in different cans. Socialism is fiscal suicide for an individual nation, from what I can see, it only survives if it expands into other nations or by conquering or judicially subjugates them as examples of the European Union and of course, Soviet Russia. Another fact is that capitalism is the fairest form of Government economics because it gives people the option if they want to be greedy with their money or share it, if they want to feed the poor or buy a new Corvette. It's totalitarianistic for someone to have to pay an extra income tax because they are doing well. My last point is that nations which practice pseudo Laizzes-faire economics do much better revenue wise than socialism nations.

Ps. Don't start saying the Euro is doing better than the Dollar because since July the American economy has pulled ahead of Europe by 29 pts ranging from simple NASDAQ to corporate interprise.
