God dang, I'm not saying all dedicated servers suck, but I just had a horrible experience with dedicated servers right now.
I'm just trying to play a mod of Battlefield 2 (Project Reality), and there's only one server worth playing in. But it has a full 64/64 cap and I'm monotonously clicking back and worth between servers to get in. I did this for literally twenty minutes until someone finally got out. It was 63/64, and I did my best to try to speedily enter the server, but someone else gets in. 700 clicks later, another. Once again I fail. Now I'm really angry. Three minutes later, I finally get in, the server crashes. No game for me.
I respect dedicated servers, but seriously, when I'm just trying to find a fun match to play, I prefer matchmaking much more. I couldn't care less about the community or mods. Those things fill up my hard drive with useless sound effects and junk anyway.
Almost every time I try to play a PC Game, it takes me about five to ten minutes or even way more like this situation in order to update my server list, then manually click back and forth to get into a server.
The only clear advantage I see of dedicated servers are 24/7 maps and your choice of what maps you want to play. But other than that, I couldn't care less.
Your opinion??
plz, I don't want a flame war, I just want a good PC gamer or console gamers opinion on this 30 year old system
