Sorry guys, never got a chance to review anything to join the club. College, music, and people have kept me busy.

I still have a request though.

Yeah I missed your post and it probably escaped notice because you also put a request in your applying post. You could have droped me a PM if no one replies was replying to your post.

But anyway, I've just checked your reviews and my decision is that you can join. Your reviews go from very helpful to quite poor (especially the flash ones) but if you review the requests like you reviewed "Dirty War", it's all good. By the way, I haven't seen any of your reviews with a score below 7 on the first page ;).

Welcome to the club, you can start reviewing these requests but the update is tomorrow so I advise you to wait until I post the list for next update.

I don't do flash reviews and, as of late, I've only been reviewing songs I really like (hence the 9's and 10's) or returning favors. Page 8 is filled with 6's and 5's, which was the period when I was part of the club last year.

I'll wait. I'll probably limit my reviews to music.

That last line I can agree with, but you would expect the score to be coherent with the review.

Just my opinion in the end. I guess I just like people being critical of my work.

As much as I appreciate the job that the members of the Request Club do, it still hasn't changed one of its most annoying habits since I left it.

You guys are giving 8's, 9's, and 10's left and right. Stop being so generous with your scores. Start being more objective. It's nice to have your ego stroked every now and then but it doesn't help an artist grow. I'm not asking you to give 3's and discourage people from making music, but a few more 6's an 7's would be nice. If our songs were really 9's and 10's, they'd be more popular and whatnot. But they're obviously not 9 or 10 material. Now, some reviewers like brutal honesty, others don't. It doesn't matter, take your chances and be extremely critical, that's why people request reviews in first place.

YES, it GETS tiring to nitpick the bad aspects of a song when you've got over 20 requests, but that's what's expected of you, or at least that's what I expect when I request reviews. The only (ex)member who was ever criticial here was Bezman, and that's why I loved his reviews. Thank you for taking the time to review songs and flashes, but please ensure you do a quality job instead of rushing through songs to get an 100% review rate. I read earlier that someone wanted to limit requesters to 2 submissions per week. Go ahead, do it. Hell, limit it to 1, even. You might get less requests, but you'll also do a better job.

All that being said, thanks again for the work you do. I'll get to responding your reviews soon.

P.S. You forgot to add me back to the club, I mentioned I wanted to join again on page 18. That made me sadeface ):

Well, seems like there are a couple people interested so I'll just post it here.

That's the track.

It's got a rhythm and a lead guitar on the chorus.

I'll improve the quality of the other instruments if I can get someone to record the guitar parts first for the final render.

Thanks to anyone to takes interest in the project. I'd really like to finish this one with an actual guitar.

Got two requests of my own too.

Sent you a PM with a link the song. I submitted it to NG a while ago with guitar synths instead.

It seems like you're more of the bluesy/jazzy type, but if you can do it, then great.

I wrote a song a long time ago and I would like to collab with any guitarist that can record the guitar parts for me. I wouldn't say it's shredding, but there are some relatively fast parts that I can't play, let alone record myself.

Help from any guitarists would be appreciated. My submission will be PMed to anyone interested.

Nope, I'm getting that too. Why you would need more than 16 bars per beat is beyond me though. You can just use those 16 and work on the next 16 on pattern 2.

from what i hear it makes the sound pump or pulsate. never really used it but someone recommended that i do learn to use it,
Think of compressors is like your grandma with you in the car. You are listening to your favorite music, and everytime it gets loud, you're grandma turns the volume down, when it gets quieter, she turns it back up. The attack of a compressor is how fast she turns the volume knob, the release is how fast she turns it back up. The threshold is the limit at which your grandma thinks it's too loud.
That is the basic function of a compressor. it 'compresses' the sound. The overall volume can thereby be raised. A limiter is a very HARD compressor more or less.
The 'pulsing' effect is achieved by sidechaining. the compressor is triggered by another source.
In the grandma context:
Your grandma is in your car again, this time she's listening to her iPod. Now your favorite music is on in the car, but your grandma is listening to oompa oompa music. (lol). Everytime it gets too loud for her, instead of turning her iPod down, she turns your car radio down and back up.

Get it? :D

I think you've got attack and release wrong. Isn't attack how fast the volume goes up and release how fast it goes down.

The higher the attack, the faster (in milliseconds) you hear the sound. The faster the release, the faster it fades away. If your release is slow, the sound takes more time to fade away.

Stop trying to turn this thread into an anti-piracy discussion. You are so goddamn annoying and I don't even care if I get banned for saying it. Comparing piracy to slavery? That's about as intelligent as comparing George W. Bush or Barack Obama to Adolf Hitler... The bottom line is, this dude stole music from various artists and claimed it to be his own work. I HOPE HE FEELS BAD ABOUT IT.

Godwin's Law!

Hey, I've used midis before, but I've given credit to the original midi composers, so any mention of midi usage is irrelevant.

Piracy =/= plagiarism.
Actually, no. Stealing is stealing. Also. by uploading other people's stuff here, he was making songs available, redistributing them without permission. That's piracy.
Yes they are both stealing, but the fundamental part of plagiarism isn't that it is also piracy in this case, it's that he creditted to be his own creation, which is much worse than just piracy. So piracy =/= plagiarism.

Thank you.

I do, however, agree that stealing is stealing. Read my previous posts, I don't justify his actions nor think the staff should have been so lenient on him.

where do you draw the line for when your account gets deleted? it definitely should not be based on how popular you are.

Q: What do I do if I discover stolen music in the Audio Portal?

A: Please report all stolen audio to Wade via the staff page. If a user is discovered to have uploaded stolen content our policy is to delete the account and all related submissions - no questions asked.

"No questions asked". In this case, Immune's the one who's contacting the staff to fess up though. However, a serial killer coming clean about his acts is a killer nonetheless and deserves the same punishment as a person caught redhanded.

You stole songs that won you competitions, made hundreds of people look up to you, and garnered recognition throughout Newgrounds with them. But you came clean and you're suddenly an awesome person for "having balls", so everything's awwwrite!

What the fuck? Sure, his stuff got deleted, but I find it pathetic how everybody can still like a person like him after this. Furthermore, his account didn't get deleted, unlike Zellers' (Shame on you too...).

And of course, there's the tiny possibility that's it all one big joke, but until it's proven that it actually is, I stand by my words.

Disgraceful.

It's actually very simple. Get a song, add some simple drums to it, and call it a remix!

On a more serious note, there are hundreds of different ways to remix a song. Might wanna be more specific. Audition is a good all-around program though.

If you're up for a collab, I guess we can work something out. Granted, I just started college, so my available hours are mostly at night.
