Stalin vs Hitler Posted February 9th, 2013 in Politics

who was a worse leader

I vote Stalin, as he destroyed Communism, his nation's economy for 30-40 years, worked 20 million of his own people to death, and lasted longer, who do you think was the more fearsome?

I never really liked it originally.

also, kids don't know who the people in that show are, the show hasn't aired regularly on CN for what, a decade? and hardly any of the older fans are going to sit down per week to see a live action version of it, bad idea for CN.

Half-Life, {which are good games, but not revolutionary in any way}

not to sound like a valve tard( i'm not ), but Half Life 1 basically made the bridge from games with simple stories or none at all like Doom, Quake 1, Turok, etc. to stuff liek Halo and other FPS's with huge stores in them.

It was also innovating for things such as Ai that didn't simply charge at you in swarms to provide a challenge (marines) like the imps from Doom did, and it also influenced FPS to be on the more realistic but still sci-fi to the point where it could actually be real, as in Doom and Quake where ammo and health was simply just scattered about randomly, in HL1 it was put mostly into logical places like near dead bodies, cabinits, etc. another cool thing about HL1 that HL2 didn't do was there were a few enemies where you had to use the ENVIRONMENT ITSELF to kill said enemy, which I'm sure influenced future FPS games, I mean, it's just a cool concept, too bad they didn't implement it in HL2.

elephants are pretty smart Posted February 6th, 2013 in General

I don't know if this is true or not but from wikipedia.

The elephant has one of the most closely knit societies of any living species. Elephant families can only be separated by death or capture. Cynthia Moss, an ethologist specialising in elephants, recalls an event involving a family of African elephants. Two members of the family were shot by poachers, who were subsequently chased off by the remaining elephants. Although one of the elephants died, the other, named Tina, remained standing, but with knees beginning to give way. Two family members, Trista and Teresia (Tina's mother), walked to both sides of Tina and leaned in to hold her up. Eventually, Tina grew so weak, she fell to the ground and died. However, Trista and Teresia did not give up but continually tried to lift her. They managed to get Tina into a sitting position, but her body was lifeless and fell to the ground again. As the other elephant family members became more intensely involved in the aid, they tried to put grass into Tina's mouth. Teresia then put her tusks beneath Tina's head and front quarters and proceeded to lift her. As she did so, her right tusk broke completely off, right up to the lip and nerve cavity. The elephants gave up trying to lift Tina but did not leave her; instead, they began to bury her in a shallow grave and throw leaves over her body. They stood over Tina for the night and then began to leave in the morning. The last to leave was Teresia.
Because elephants are so closely knit and highly matriarchal, a family can be devastated by the death of another (especially a matriarch), and some groups never recover their organization. Cynthia Moss has observed a mother, after the death of her calf, walk sluggishly at the back of a family for many days.
Edward Topsell stated in his publication The History of Four-Footed Beasts in 1658, "There is no creature among all the Beasts of the world which hath so great and ample demonstration of the power and wisdom of almighty God as the elephant." Elephants are believed to be on par with chimpanzees with regards to their cooperative skills.

Maybe they'll be the next race to dominate Earth if humans destroy ourselves and they don't go extinct (there is a high chance of them going extinct due to poachers)

What do you think?

Bet we will in the next 1000 years or so if we don't destroy ourselves.

I mean seriously, less than two hundred years before we learned nuclear fission we didn't even have a proper steam engine.

Response to: why do so many people hate CoD Posted February 6th, 2013 in Video Games

He hates Valve games,

Because a lot of Valve games suck?

no offense to any major valve fans here, and even though I find Valve to be an ok video game company for stuff like Steam, HL1, and the L4D series, they have made a lot of mediocore stuff that gets overly praised, like HL2. I honestly don't see the appeal to it, I actually think the beta and alpha stages of the game when they were going to make Earth a pollution filled planet for the combine advisors, and had stuff like Morpher from LoZ;OOT as cool bosses (something else HL2 lacked), to be a more full game, but all we got was game where you killed half robot-soldiers over, and over, and over again, compared to HL1, which had wicked-looking aliens, Marines that were hard to kill and actually leaked blood and gibbed compared to the half-robot ragdolls that weren't satisfying to defeat at all, or at least to the extent of HL1, where you had to do a lot of work and your reward was to witness a rocket engine burn a tentacle octupus boss alive, which was pretty satisfying. HL1 also had cool ninjas and bosses, and a good ending that wasn't a total buzz kill like hl2's ending was.

That is my honest opinion over HL2.

Steam box will flop Posted February 6th, 2013 in Video Games

The steam box is valve's new console to enter into the market of Xbox 360/ps3 etc. but it's really small, and requires upgrades, however, it will flop because hardcore gamers are already satifised with their PC's that they are upgrading gradually and have spent so much work/money on them, so I don't really see why you would need a steam box, even on the go, where stuff like Nintedo DS's cover that much better.

also, the casual market is satisfied by the Wii/Wii U, and both casuals and semi-hardcore fans are satisfied with their already ready gaming systems, the Steam box wouldn't appeal to them because adding and removing parts will seem to "intimadating" to them, especially the casuals. Who else agrees that the Steam Box will be a flop?

Its main contributions were the new enemies and weapons which helped expand the modding community.

Think of it as an expansion pack.

Most of the "new" monsters were just simple edits of previous ones, such as the Hell Knight had it's damage/health reduced by 50%, and some pixels changed green, that's it.
