Time since last eaten: 48 hours
Current ailments: Slight stomach cramps, moderate hunger, bad breath
Current cravings: Lemonade, caramel, turkey

This is going well so far. I think i'm going to try and do some research online and try and figure out what to expect over the next few days. I think i'm going to start feeling the beginnings of some side effects soonish.

Time will tell.

Mind over matter thus far.

What will be interesting to see unfold is the kind of placebo/paranoia effect. I.e convincing myself that there are bad things happening to my body and they need to end NOW.

I don't think i've lost any mass or weight yet either so everythings going pretty hunky dory.

Or at least, as well as something like this can do.

Has anyone figured out a way that I can prove i'm not cheating yet? I want to try and legitimise this whole thing.
Keep actuate data of the whole thing with some doctor vists to verify, if i lived in the arab area i would happily do it, but unfortunately i dont so the former is recommended

That would be a viable solution if it weren't for a few problems:

1) I doubt a doctor would help with this. Can't really blame them tbh. I accept that from a medical perspective (and the majority of others), its a bad idea.

2) We have a private healthcare system that makes doctors visits expensive

3) I don't have any health insurance which makes doctors visits even more expensive.

This sounds like a valid point. I haven't had any coffee yet though tbh. I just included it in my allowed list because I thought it'd help combat a lack of energy as I get towards the end.

I think i'll scratch it from the list if there really are substantial negative side effects to it though.

Thanks for the heads up

I'm 17. I'm pretty much done growing. But I do agree that this will probably have some temporary negative side effects.

i thought that during ramadan, the younger people aren't supposed to fast/have a choice, but it's more for the older teens/adults to do.

Thats true. I'm not celebrating Ramadan though, nor is anyone else. Ramadan usually takes place during the month of August.

you, as a growing adolescent, need to eat. you need to eat properly. your body is trying to grow, and you're doing more harm than good to yourself.

you have no reason to fast other than for what appears to be bragging rights (if i'm wrong, i'm wrong).

True. Although it's not so much for bragging rights. I'm not planning on letting anyone else I know know that i'm doing this. Too many people already think I have some sort of eating disorder.

It's more of a self test. Similar to learning a new song on guitar or running a long distance.

don't do this.

go eat.

you're growing.

Hopefully.

Current craving: Sill just want sliced turkey, maybe with some orange juice.

Yeah I'm pretty sure that I'll be fine. It's been almost 40 hours now and the only symptoms are hunger (obviously) and bad breath.

but easy on islam, i do enjoy fasting the 30 days of ramadan.

Ramadan is slightly different, you only fast during daylight hours.

its a meditation and self control challenge that i enjoy.

Snap. I don't have any real problem with Ramadan, although what does annoy me is that nobody (non-muslims included) is allowed any food or water outside. E.g i almost got fined for having water with me while I was running 10k.

Ok, going to bed now. When I wake up it'll be roughly 40 hours since I last ate. I'm aiming to make it 120 hours.

I feel fine so far, apart from feeling pretty hungry obviously. Whilst its been pretty easy going so far, I predict tomorrow will be much more challenging.

Time will tell.

I'm not going to die. The human body is designed to cope without food for long periods of time. It's actually over-consumption thats more likely to kill me.

Hmm things may be tricky kinda soon

I've been invited to a family dinner this Sunday. Obviously i'll have to decline but its a shame I guess. Also, my stomach just cramped pretty bad, it was kind sore until I went to the toilet and it turned out to be trapped gas.

This has been a walk in the park so far, but I expect tomorrow morning might be hard.

I'm attempting to think of some sort of system I can use to act as proof that i've not cheated. Anyone got any ideas? I'm all for 'em.

Everyones already tried all the obviously good ideas and they've reported their results. Those ideas are done and useless now. We need new ones. This one isn't new either.

The only other idea I have that hasn't been done is to create a non-symbolic/word based language. But nobody seems to want to help.

actually if your diet is deficient in nutrients your brain will cease to function properly

neurotransmitters require proteins etc

your frontal cortex will cease to produce as much dopamine/serotonin and other neurotransmitters leading to a lack of motivation/temporary loss of motor skills/possible loss of memory

fasting for any period longer than a day or two is a dangerous thing

Theres more to a brain then neurons you know.

To the omnipresent Mac critic:

Yes, I have an iPad; but please, spare me your patronism.

I really don't care that it doesn't have bluetooth or that it doesn't have a USB port. I know it's not going to increase my productivity or plug any gaps in my life. But I really don't care.

I'm aware that my computer is much faster and productive than my tablet. You have a car don't you? Then why the fuck do you have a bicycle? A bicycle can't go as fast, it's much more awkward to use and they're really pretty expensive. Let me guess why you have a bike: You have a bike because it's fun, it's liberating and it's a change from the norm. Let's not pretend that all of our consumer decisions are cool and calculating.

You don't "need" any more music, but you buy/download it anyway. You don't really "need" that second serving of dinner. You don't "need" the new version of Call of Duty (it's practically the same as all the others anyway). We all make these irrational decisions on a daily basis. So why then, is it so laughable, so unfathomable, that I could have possible bought myself an iPad for the sheer fun of it as well? Gosh, how daring of me...

If I were to say, I bought myself some new shoes, or perhaps a saxophone I think you'd be pretty cool with it. But the moment you even smell an iPad purchase, you begin demanding an explanation: "How is it going to help you though?" "What are you going to do with it?". Fuck me, if I realised consumer decisions we're opportunities for interigation sessions then i'd have definitely booked a session with you when ou started paying another £20 a month for faster internet.

Get a fucking grip people.

Google blocked bittorrent from auto-completing so that it wouldn't be passively instructing people to torrent music.
