Hey guys/girls, you're not going to believe this, but I'm finally going to get acting lessons now
I just sent back an application form at an acting (or as us Brits/Scots call it a drama school) school in my town and I think it's safe to say I've been accepted now

meh, contact in sig, although i need no Voice Actors at present its always good to know there is some1 i can ask for lines without waiting for some1 to reply on the BBS, ur hired, but without pay and no project yet :P
I'm not looking to get paid (not yet anyway), I just want to beef up my VA resume in the hopes I can go pro
Given how quickly roles for flash projects here are taken, I am looking for any roles on offer for anything on Newgrounds. I know I should post this in the VAC thread but I feel by doing this I should be able to find voice work to do here a lot easier. Plus I'll hopefully be able to beef up my VA resume

You could get years of training, but it's nowhere near the talents that can come from your heart. Everyday, if you wake up and say to yourself that you will be a great VA, you will be one. Training helps improve, but voice and talent comes from within.
From the heart.....I'll admit I never did think of that

Why won't I need acting or vocal training?, I've been told they were important
You misread the post. They are very important. All VA need training. Robin Williams had training. David Hayter had trianing. Michael Ironside had training. Mel Blanc had training. The VA's for Teen Titans had training. So did I. So will you.
Well I would get acting training, but the 2 acting schools in my town that I know of are full up for the year
About the whole emotion thing, I'm trying that, but the problem is that it would require me to speak softly and the mic I use would not be able to fully pick it up since I have to speak loud on it just to capture my voice.
In addition I use noise reduction to get rid of unessesary background noise and that makes it slightly worse

but I've had people tell me that I do not sound right, even in my normal voice
Then you know what? Get on yer ass, stop saying you suck, and take the time to practice VAing on your own since you can't train with anyone else yet. Prove everyone who's said "you don't sound right" wrong. And please for the love of God (if there is one), read everyone's advice to you. From the VAA to your Livejournal to here. Everything that has been said to you WILL help you, but you just keep ignoring and continue to say "I suck" and making other excuses. You're wasting everyone's time and your time as well. Saying "I suck" will NOT make you a better VA. Lots of time and practice will.
Now get to it! And say anything along the lines of "I suck" again, and I shall explode. >:(
Okay then, first thing I should do is create another sound reel of what I can do in the hopes I can get some opinions on how good I am right now
Well...sorry, but all the places that I know of that do acting classes are full up right now. And I don't mean to be so critical of my own voice, but I've had people tell me that I do not sound right, even in my normal voice

I would post a sample, but most people on the net tell me I suck and I sound more like a girl than a boy
And with my current lack of acting and vocal training, I'm just not sure if posting a vocal sample is a good idea right now
If you suck, you shouldnt be a voice actor then, try to strive in something else. I mean I suck at voice acting, and thats why I try to be good at writing and drawing/animation.
I only suck because I lack acting and vocal training, hopefully once I get those I will be good, maybe even on a pro VA level which I want to achieve

There's one other thing that concerns me, my resume.
Do I have less chance of being casted for something due to the lack of stuff I've done in my resume right now?
Your voice sample is what most people care about. Only for a few producers a good resume is good to have, but at the early stage your at, a beefy resume won't matter to most producers, just work on your voice sample. For some roles just show someone your voice sample, or you can audition. But you have to read the forum constantly because like I said, we are not your agents.

You read that right, twelve (12) of 'em. Six male, six female. It's for a video game I'm making. Please email me with samples and/or a request for lines.
I'm interested (check my resume for e-mail address)
