BWAIN!!!!!!!
MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!!!!!!
That was absolutely insane...I didn't know Arnold spoke Japanese...
He only has to do as much. He can work hard if he wants.
This, coming from the same guy who said that the motivation for someone to get better is the knowledge that they will be better because of it. I'm sorry, but everything I know about human nature and the human psyche states otherwise. No one will ever "work as hard as they want." They will work as much as they need to to get paid a certain amount. If they need to get paid more, they will do overtime. There is no other reason for them to do such a thing...it is madness!!! If everyone gets paid the same amount for a day's work, and there is no real incentive (money) to go the extra mile...will they even try? No. I know they won't. I've seen it a countless number of times, for as long as I have had concious thought. People will do the same work, have the same skills. No one will be better than anyone else. They will become mindless drones, guided by the government. Only when the government tells them to figure something out will they do it. And creativity goes down the shitter...once again. Things like the Nobel Prize become obsolete because only when the government tells them to figure something out will they do it. Remember how necessity is the mother of invention? The only necessity is the government's will, in a sense, we stop becoming personalized creative thinkers and become a hive. With the government as the queen, sending out signals to tell the drones what to do. Are you saying that you can say with a straight face that you'd rather be a mindless, expendable, appendage rather than a thinking human being? Humans lose millions of cells in a day, you would be just one of them. In a sense, no one would give a shit about you as a citizen, only as a drone. In the eyes of your omnipotent government, you would practically nothing. I don't miss those old cells, I grow new ones. And the same thing goes for you. You wouldn't know any of this though...you would have been manufactured to not carry such emotions most likely...keeps the order together. Ever read the book "We?" Your "communism" would eventually become that. I basically just described the scenario that that entire book is based off of. So...think to yourself...is it what you want? Really?
I know plenty of yanks that know what their country is doing, why dont you?
I also know that I happen to be American. Sure, I can go through and name all of the mistakes that we have made in the past, but I can also go through and name all of the mistakes that any other country has. Bottom line, I'm going to say my country is fine because it is my country. You are going to say my country is shit because my country does things differently than what you would like to see people doing. Here's the basic deal (and mind you that this is my opinion...)
You don't like my country because we are all a bunch of capitalistic war-mongerers that allow coporations to stomp all over the "proletariot. sp*?"
I don't like your philoshopy because it is the philosophy of where everyone is equal and isn't allowed to exceed other people (if that person is more able than another) and turns human beings into mindless creativity lacking robots designed for a certain purpose and that purpose alone.
Oh, and this is my opinion as a non-English citizen, but I don't like your country's overly socialist attitude.
What have we learned here about the world in general? Nothing. What have we learned about each other? Enough to know that you and I don't agree.
You can try to justify points such as these an infinite number of times, but I have a feeling that it isn't going to change much. These views of ours are based on growing up on different sides of the world. On my side, I just don't think you can justify communism. On yours, you think communism can be justified. No amount of arguing is going to change this. It is about as futile as trying to tell a devout theist that his god doesn't exist. Opinions are meant to be defended, true, but, it is always good, once you reach a certain point, to just stop debating the issue. Oh, and don't take this to mean that you "won" or anything, I could have either put this up, or never replied. I just wanted to make a few things clear, now that I know your stance.
Eh... A few things I'm fine with, a few things I'm not, so I'll say:
BUSH KEEP NEUTRALLY PERFORMING HOMEOSTASIS!

I believe in democracy, the original Communist state in Russia was the most democratic in the world ( for 24 hours, until lenin fucked it up big style) The reason these other countries went to communism was, because they were in a shit hole, russia was in the dark ages, Communism took them hundreds of years up to date in an extremly short period of time.
Now, we'd better get something straight here. Russia ended up controlling most of Eastern Europe after WWII. The countries became communist because they were being annexed into the USSR's empire. The countries actually didn't want to be communist. I don't know about China and Vietnam, but Eastern Europe sure as hell didn't want to be Communist.
Communism is not a religion and not a lifestyle, it should be a party and only a party, any thing else in leninism, marxism and stalinism.
Communism is an economic system. The "communist party" was invented so as to please their people with elections. However, there was only one party to vote from, the communist party, or not to vote. Don't get confused by the term "communist party," it doesn't exist. Besides, you can't just vote in new economic systems every year, your country would go bankrupt due to the strain caused by such a thing. You can either be capitalistic, or communistic. England decided to pick capitalism (however, it's tending towards the socialist side).
on another point, if have no problem with capitalism, get a life, there is a difference between free enterprise and capitalism. The Fisher family for instance, they get shit loads of money, one of the richest families in america, and their workers get less than 50p a day.
America is trying to deal with such corporate scandals, scandals that Clinton allowed to come to pass. Only until the stock market plummeted did everyone start to worry about it. It is sad that such things can happen that way, but there is a minimum wage in this country, and if one of those employees feels that the company isn't paying him a just amount for his work, he can sue.
If anything believe in democracy, and please realise that america is not free, you attempted to lock away members of the communist party during the 50s, free speach! yeah right! just like the nazis did. We are all being farmed by capitalist media. please realise you country is shit, i know mine is, other wise i wouldnt be a communist.
OOOO, what a big rebel. Dude, get a load of all the shit that just spewed out of your mouth. The so-called "Red Scare" was during the Cold War. At any time Russia could have attacked. We were being cautious. I doubt we executed them like the Nazis would have done though. You oviously think that capitalism is some kind of party. It isn't. The things you are getting confused is that there is capitalism, and communism, both economic systems, that have nothing to do with politics or propoganda. Back during the Red Scare when we said "Commies" we basically meant anyone that was in League with our enemy, the U.S.S.R. This was a war between superpowers, not their economic systems. The Russians had nuclear weapons. So did we. They were basically a totalitarian government. We were a democracy. They just happened to be communist. We just happened to be capitalist. Our economic systems had nothing to do with it. However, all we realized is that all forms of communism then had lead to totalitarian control in the countries that used it, and we took that to mean that all communists were our enemies (when in fact it was the allies of the USSR). We arrested Russian spies, who we called "Commies," cause at that time every communist regime was our enemy. In fact, they spread propoganda of their own making their people hate us. China was our enemy because they booted out our buddy Chiang Kaishek, who was the leader of the Republic of China, and replaced him with Mao, (who was communist), and also in league with Russia I believe. Mao was helping Ho Chi Minn turn Vietnam into a communist country, with aid of troops. Ho Chi Minn had planned to become a dictator, which for us is not good since it stacks the odds against us. When half the world's population is definitely against you, and only a few of your allies are willing to help you, you become a little paranoid.
Oh and here are some inconsistancies with what you said.
The "communist party" as stated above of Russia were our enemies. The nonexistant "communist party" was the U.S.S.R. itself. Members of that "party" would then have been spies. Besides what idiot would even come to the US during the 50's if he was truly a Russian? Unless he was cleared, he would have been suspicious...no?
There is no such thing as capitalistic propoganda because only groups with opinions can create such things. Capitalism is an economic system, not a party, so it cannot create propoganda (except for those Nasdaq 500 company commercials, which are just cool).
Unless you play a shitload of Metal Gear Solid 2 America is free.
Slizor, you are thinking positively. Good for you. However, optimism has its limits, and I don't know what things are like in your country, or if my country is just shit (which it really isn't), but you and I definitely come from different backgrounds if you think that all people believe that the incentive to get better is the knowledge that you know you are going to get better. Most people would rather say fuck it.

Well, if you are talking about the farsical torrent of gay-bashers, hypocrites, and pedophiles that we now call the Christian Reich, I'd have to agree with you. I'd like to quote a very wise man named Steven Weinberg when I say...
"Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion."
At 9/9/02 10:18 AM, Slizor wrote:
Elaborate on that.People will want to get better, because being better is a desirable thing. No?
Not if they can get away with it. I'm talking about the incentive of beating out competition. For example, the only reason we have nuclear fission is because of WWII, it probably wouldn't have developed as it did without war (competition in this sense being the threat of total annihaltion), however, that is a different matter. People are inherently lazy. They wil do the least amount of work that they think that they can get away with. And when you said the incentive to get better is to get better, that is circular reasoning, since to get better you have to have an incentive to do so, such as competition, or fear of becoming second-best, wheras the if you have an incentive to do so, you will be forced to get better. You can't have one without the other. By your reasoning, you are telling me that you wouldn't just sit on your ass doing the same average work every day if you had a choice?

Technically Muslims don't believe in Christ. So thats like having a -0, which is still just 0. And if you wanted to say it as inverse Christ, that would be 1/0, which is undefined. See how math can explain everything?
Wow, a lot of you have extreme liberalistic philosophies. Man's ability to have pity is not only just, but a moral crutch. Sure, cultural diversity is a good thing, but the actions of the past were in the past. Can you imagine what the world would be like today if the "Indians" hadn't been "wiped out?" I can't. You tell me. I can't imagine what the world would be like if the dodo hadn't become extinct. You are all thinking on the basis of what should have happened and not what did.
The only reason we are here to realize that we made mistakes and should correct them is because we made mistakes in the first place. People shouldn't be so aggravated by other people. You were born under certain circumstances, I was on different circumstances, and this other guy was on completely different ones.
And for those of you who think that the U.S. is cocky and perhaps over-bearing on the rest of the world, you are right. I am a U.S. citizen. I know what we do and yes it is to protect our own interests. Any sane person would want that. So for all of you people who have some kind of grudge with the U.S., just cool it. Everyone is an idiot. Once we realize that, maybe the world can finally make some progress, before our species goes extinct.
Oh, and yes, I am actually a Republican. Thank you.

I think the Bush administration sucks in a lot of ways, but I'd like to see the people who call him a moron function for five minutes as the leader of the free world while the United States is dealing with a national and global crisis - let's see how many words you trip on now and then when the fate of your recently massively attacked country rests on your shoulders.
I don't know exactly who you were talking to, but calling a specific group of people in a country that is supposed to be based off of religious tolerance "not real americans" is quite a slip up. It doesn't matter if we have a religion or choose not to partake in such a thing, we are all Americans, and we are all fighting the same war. So, all I wanted to know was whether or not he actually said that.

That's what I wanted to know. Dictatorships = Dum. You don't need to justify why. But of course England doesn't need to be told twice about that (considering Hitler would have destroyed you if the U.S hadn't saved your asses).
Unless John Ashcroft gets on this forum, I doubt it. :P
Hmm...John Ashcroft lost to a dead guy.
And yes, I know that communism is an economic system. However, communism leads to totalitarianism. If you want to speak of some kind of utopia, you'd better figure out a way to turn humans into progammable blanks or else that will never happen. Besides, life would be a hell of a lot less interesting.
Slizor, you are trying to argue for a debunk system. It's like trying to argue for spontaneous generation (the modern kind, not prehistory). There is no basis that communism could ever exist without a corrupt leadership. On the other hand, capitalism has been doing quite well for the last 200 years in the US. Sure there were a few setbacks, but we've done all right, considering we are the world's only major superpower. In communism there are only two types of people, the opressors, and the opressed. It doesn't matter if they know it or not. At least in the U.S. we have the power to criticize our key officials. Try doing that in a communist based government.
At 8/21/02 09:42 AM, Slizor wrote: Which is better?
Unfortunately, you don't seem to understand that in every case that communism has been implemented, it has failed miserably. Equal distribution of wealth helps no one. The reason that is so is because of one thing, lack of competition. If everyone was guaranteed the exact same things, and there was no such thing as a free market economy, the great things you have today, like sneakers, and speakers, and cars, and all the choices you have right now between different ways of expressing yourself would be nonexistant. Incentive does not exist. There is no incentive to be creative, there is no incentive to get better, and there is no incentive to evolve. Communism in itself is faulty as an economic system. The bottom line, lazy people will be poor, and hard-working people will have a better chance of being wealthy. Lazy people can become rich by chance, but they will never stay that way for long.
Stickers huh...maybe you should also get into some decals as well...you know, for cars, boats, airplanes, space shuttles, etc.
Yeah a fan art section would be pretty cool - and thanks for giving us the scoop about 10+ level gains, I'll keep that in mind.

Yep, right as I logged into your site about 5 seconds ago two popups, one for some teen slut movie, and another, for gay porn dildos, popped up. It's actually quite annoying. It's not the first time the same ads popped up either. The same "teen slut" movie has been popping up every time you visit the homepage for about a week now. It's definitely not appropriate and there should be some action taken against the persons who decided this was funny.
Wow i have nothing to say. Kinda reduntant right?
Well, that movie was alright. It could have used better animation...the tweening thing just gets a little old sometimes. Tweening is good for some things, not everything.
Oh and one more thing. Are Christians still pissed off that the Jews killed Jesus (or so they say)? Cause if they are, get over it. It's like blacks wanting slave reparations. Its been over 100 years now and some still are pissed off. Get over it. For you guys, it's been more like 2,000 years. Jesus didn't say "Avenge my death Jews suck." Jesus would have said something like "Love thy neighbor" or something. Take his advise you hypocrites.

One word. Stupid. That is the only civilized remark I can give about your lunacy. I don't do this very often, but yes, I am going to insult you directly by saying "It's people like you that make these conversations necessary."
Idiot.
Personally, I think it's a little early to start thinking about building another World Trade Center. There are so many other important things to worry about. If they need money, just build a water park or something and have rides like "Airplane Attack" and "Jet Fuel Combustion" or "Smack the Pavement." Yes, that was cruel. But I said that to try to prove the point that really big buildings are just good to look at. Like the pyramids in Eygpt, or the Pantheon. They serve no extremely special purpose, they are just there to show the grandeur of a society, to leave some mark of existance, to prove the power of a civilization. Things haven't changed in over 5000 years, and I doubt they ever will. This new design may look cool, but that is its only true purpose. To look bigger and better than anything else. It doesn't give homage to the victims of that horrible terrorist attacks to build a bigger and better building on top of their graves. It also doesn't say anything to the terrorists. It just gives them another big building to destroy in a few years. Terrorism isn't new. It's been around a long time, and as long as the United States of America exists, there will be people who hate us. In fact, a lot more people hate us than we might want to believe.
And about the Iraq attack, I think they need to come up with a better battle plan cause the one I've seen sucks. A full assault will cause Saddam to do nothing but launch everything he has at Israel. It'll be toast. However, this puts us between a rock and a hard place. If we wait too long, Saddam will get nuclear weapons capability and fry Israel even worse, or possibly, fry us. So we've got to make a good plan, and a good plan soon, or else we'll have worse than oil fires to deal with.
Oh, and one more thing, the time of day is a factor too. Depending on the time of day, the hacking thing could grow to be a bigger possibility, like if it was extremely late at night, or in the early morning, or during the hours that people are working. Id say that my guess is feasible between um...lets say 5 and 10 maybe?

Yea, the site has been down a lot in the past few days - so I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case. However, the other case seems to be quite interesting. I saw the 1200 vote count myself, and that was somewhat surprising. Depending on how long it was on, id say you can get anywhere from 5-10 votes per minute for an extremely "noticable" movie. Noticable as in the title catches your eye on the portal screen. Not to mention the feature status it had. The caps and mispelled words are an eye catcher. And when people watch the movie they either say "Wow this is awesome," or "Wow this sucks ass," and they vote on it due to their feelings. I might not be surprised (depending on how long after he submitted it that you guys looked at it) that it could be possible that that many votes were cast. I'm not denying the possibility that your IP adress was hacked or something, but there are other possibilities too.
