Masturbation, what? Where'd you get that from?

His post. It's not too hard to decode.

When you run in the morning, because you haven't eaten any food yet, the exercise uses energy from burning stored fat instead of burning recently eaten food.

So, first gym story today-

I was working my upper back and this guy walks in. He is a TANK. We're talking 350 pounds, 20% body fat, and able to lift cars. He walks in and starts doing pull-ups, which I actually had to do. I asked him how many sets he had to do, and complimented his ridiculous size. This broke into a conversation. He's a really nice guy, and actually has a very soft voice, he's just terrifying to look at.

I try and go to the gym 3 times a week, leaving at least 1 day of rest inbetween, I tend to only work out for 30/45 minutes but that's all you need if you do a good work out regime. It is also very important to stretch well before and after a work out.

I actually have a tendency to forgo stretching, I hate it. It is my absolute least favorite part of exercise. And yes, 30-45 minutes is enough time for a solid workout.

Well, if you used to be in good shape, muscle memory will allow you to make muscle gains faster than most people.

Currently I lift dumbbells which work my biceps, tricepts, deltoids, pecs, and legs. I am trying to get my hands on a straight bar and about 90 lbs of weights to work my upper chest more. I also try to get some walking in by walking around my neighborhood for about 1 hour. Is there anything else that I can do to help lose my body fat?

Well, first off, everybody here should know that there is no such thing as 'toning'. It doesn't exist. There is fat and muscle. People with both are 'strong fat', people with either one are 'muscular' or 'fat', and people with neither are skinny. I assume you mean lean, as in having muscle while maintaining a low body fat.

If you want to lose body fat, address one of the earlier posts I made in this thread- 20 minutes of light running 3 times a week and a healthy diet is all you need to lose fat. As for building muscle, that is an entirely different story.

Response to: Look at these tans! Posted July 27th, 2009 in General

The bodybuilding couple are wearing fake bronzing tan. Bodybuilders apply it several days before a competition because tans increase muscle definition. It washes right off.

I use my left hand every now and then, usually when my right hand gets tired. It's like a stranger to the manger, ya know? But I don't win as much using my left hand, is it healthy for them to be unbalanced?

Well, any masturbation is going to contribute only minor increases in strength in size to your forearm, because it isn't a resistance exercise, it has way too many reps, and it just isn't an efficient movement. If you want to win arm wrestling matches, there are some wrist curls that will do you much better.

I'd like to know if for running, 8mins is a decent mile time.

I'm not a runner.

Last one before bed.

For an average person, 8 minutes is a good run time. I myself can only do a 9 minute run. For athletes, I believe a 6 minute mile is expected, and for the military, I believe it's 21 minutes for 3 miles.

yeah, I can only do like 15 pull-ups, and believe it or not, I can benchpress about 110, I'm only about 5"6' though, most of my friends are bigger, but only taller, the are runner/swimmers.

Well, pull ups are an exercise based on bodyweight, and are made easier depending on height, so I don't think it's a good indicator of bicep strength. Assuming you're at an average level of fitness, 110 bench press is good for your weight, but nowhere near 'strong'.

Actually, if you're interested in getting bigger pecs, DUMBBELL bench presses and incline presses are extremely good at muscle hypertrophy.

There are different types of fitness. Bodybuilders are not known for their running abilities but can lift a lot and look great. Powerlifters CANNOT run and look like shit, but are incredibly strong. Many athletes are a mix of strength and endurance, and cardiovascular athletes can run endlessly. It depends on what you want.

As for the pull ups, it depends on how much of your weight is muscle, fat, and how tall you are. However, 135 pounds is very light and I would not expect any overwhelming displays of strength.

Masturbation works the forearm and forearm flexors of the arm you use, which is a muscle used in bicep curls, arm wrestling, and most wrist movements.

The absolute most effective way to get abs is as follows-

Cut down body fat by running for 20 minutes 3 times a week.

Cut down body fat by eating a balanced diet of about 2000 calories, 100+ grams of protein, and very little fat every day.

Work the actual muscle by doing weighted crunches.

Weighted crunches are when you place any weight on your chest and do small crunches. Do 3 sets of 8 reps 2 times a week with a weight in accordance with your abdominal strength and you'll be all set.

SO.

Here I was today, going to the gym, trying to get myself into good shape. On the 20-minute walk back, the thought crossed my mind that despite my only slightly desirable physique, I had spent 3 months beforehand reading up on the subject and as such knew quite a damn bit about it. I thought, that, hey, maybe I could put this to use.

My friends being the unmotivated people that they are, I turn now to my favorite forum.

Let's see if I can start a spark here, if I can motivate anybody here to do a few laps, or we could all sit around the campfire telling fitness stories, or have a bit of Q and A. I'm sure some people here desire a better body.

As for the Q and A, I only know so much. But I'm sure somewhere on this massive forum there are others who have dedicated their lives to health and could supplement my knowledge with their own.

With that being said, let's start.

Who here wants to know anything about exercise, anatomy, and fitness?

Serious thread by the way, so let's try to be civil.

Thats what History is HIS-STORY. This is pretty much proof that history is just CRAP. You have to actually go back and look for the evidence and throw away the emotions aswell as obligations whenever looking at what I call "past sciences". What you preach is HIS-STORY, I preach past sciences kid. Click the link just look at some of the vids. I'm not saying look at all of them. Just a few ok.

OH I GET IT THE WORD STORY IS IN ITS NAME SO ITS ONLY A STORY OKAY I GET IT IM DONE YOU WIN

Ok Ok I get where you comming from in some places but you cannot just throw away evidence against an arguement and not look into it. Just watch a few videos on that site, especally one third of a holocaust (I used the wrong URL the site is actually called "holocaustdenialvideos" but whatever. You are being intellectually dishonest and the site maker even said that he doesn't hate the jews and just wish for everyone to move on.

Anybody who takes established history and challenges the SINGLE LARGEST GENOCIDE perpetrated against, hey, possibly the world's most hated people, are anti-Semitic.

If 99% of the evidence says one thing and the remaining 1% say five different things, you should probably take the most likely option.

And not everything is going to fit perfectly into place. History is not a detective story, where there are a bunch of clues that point to one and only one result. It doesn't work that way. History is an enormously complex tapestry of events that may or may not completely agree with what actually happened. I'm not watching that video, so you give me some cliffs. Tell me what this evidence is against a historically accepted fact.
