Sounds like either a major component like the flash memory or processor died, or the firmware was corrupted. I've never hear of these so-called "MP3 player viruses".

Now don't get all pissy because I'm mentioning this, but look into refurbished or last-gen iPods. You can get a 1 gig Shuffle for $80 or an 8 gig 2nd gen Nano for $150 right form Apple. Both are new old stock. They also have some refurbished 1 gig Shuffles for $50, and refurbed 4 gig 'new' Nanos for $150.

i don't think they did, i dunno. a virus showed up on my computer a month and a half after the player stopped working. i had to erase all the files on my hard drive.

Ok what i think you did is download a virus into your mp3 player some times that happens alot to my friends. 1 time the damn thing would not turn on which in your case thats the same case some times it wont recharge and the songs become laggy.

Use the usb wire connect to your computer open the file and use a anti virus to scan the file which is holding your songs in the mp3 player if im right it would be found and deleted if not it would be found and the anti virus cant delete it just drag it out and there you have it.

If you dont a antivirus just delete all your songs and thats it your done.
