in my game, enemies run onto the screen from the side. similar to 'defend your castle', if you guys remember that game. or like the banner in the flash portal. right now i have one enemy that just teleports back past the screen when you kill him, cuz i dont know how to duplicate mc's. any help?

ok, i had a problem with the second of your scripts. on testing the movie, i just get

but if i go to that url manually, it opens fine.

yes, that would be the logical thing to do, only I've never used php or mySQL, so I decided to see if it could be done with a program I'm familiar with.

Does anybody know a method of saving information to a text file with actionscript? Also, loading text from a file? the point being that, on my website, i can type something into a flash document on an admin section of my site, which is added to a text file, which is read by another flash document that is viewable by the public. This way, I wouldn't ever have to do any re-uploading, or editing.

and for the buttons the script is

(1 being the frame you want it to start over at)

sound - open up the sound library under common libraries (in the windows section on the top), or import sounds to your own library (open by pressing ctrl - L, then drag the sound file onto the screen on the frame you want the sound to start on.

omfg dont put it in the MC, or any object in the first frame, just right click on the first frame on your timeline and click on actions

Alright, I've been practising up on my actionscript (the result being this cool ass bouncy ball -http://www10.brinkster.com/jgodj). Now I'm wondering if anyone can think of a way to script throwing the ball, instead of dropping it. In other words, a script that finds out how fast the mouse is moving, while it's grabbing onto the ball, and flinging the ball when the mouse is released, so that its speed and direction is in relation to the movement of mouse. So please check out my little bouncy ball game, and tell me any ideas or methods you have.

hey if you want to make a decent movie without resorting to stick figures, try using sprites to start out. they look relatively good, and they are easy to use. I just started flash a while ago, and I've already got 2 sprite movies on the portal each with over 3 for a rating.

are all of your trees symbols? i think 200 or 300 symbols in one frame could be reason or flash to start lagging. try copying and pasting your trees in another program then importing them into flash and making them all one big symbol.

lol i dont think thats the problem... everyone knows how to write a simple dragging script. theres more technical stuff than that to worry about if she wants it to be more than an average dress-up.

z is just supposed to be a variable... should they be _root.z or something? i use variables in lots of different programming languages so i get the syntax's mixed up sometimes

ok heres the scenario: i have a movie with a small interactive part to it. when the movie reaches the frame with a certain MC, it stops. then when i hit a key, the MC plays. after the MC plays 5 times, the movie is supposed to start playing again. but it doesnt. why not?????? the mc plays whenever i hit a key, as planned, but the flash doesnt start playing again when the MC has played 5 times. heres the script thats i wrote for the MC:

hey im trying to make a simple scoring sytem where if you shoot someone, you get a point, but flash is being gay and wont let me. i made a dynamic text box, the where it said "Var:" which im assuming stands for variable, i put "z". then in the MC that gets shot, i typed in

the text shows "0", but when i shoot the guy it doesnt go up. i also tried making text's instance name "z"

so say i design a webpage in flash, and i have a site hosted by brinkster.com, how do i... uh.... make the flash...... into.... internet-ness? i know thats a dumb question, but i have no idea. do you just upload the swf file and that becomes a page or what?
