Aw shucks :)
Thanks fellas!

I've actually missed the vote the last 2 months. So I was glad I got around to it this month.

1 quick question I've always wondered. Does the order of my selections matter? Like does my #1 choice count as 10 votes, and my #2 counts as 9? Or will every choice count as 1 towards the total? I try to put them in order with my favorite first, just in case. But I've never known for sure.

That is actually pure gold. Haha.
At first it should just a wing, which is destoryed extremely easily.
Maybe then have a short animation of nanobots rebuilding the wing and other remains back into a cyborg chicken, which you then fight for real!

Excellent job organizing all of our minutes, and compiling the important points.
Very awesome.

Although publically pointing out that I wee the bed was a tab embarrassing...

I'm a little nervous right now actually.
ToaS suggested the cell team meet up for an MSN chat, which was supposed to begin 15 minutes ago. I signed on, and haven't heard from anyone yet.
Hopefully I'm not missing out on it :(

For BoMToons, playing through the game I was getting a consistant 50fps at the first boss.
But with the crab, it dropped to about 35-40fps. It varied in that range.

For the cell team, I thought the human body aspect of ours might have been dropped. I wasn't too sure what was going on, because in the team line-up it now only said "Cell"
I'm fine with it being human body though. Actually I like that better!
I figure every enemy doesn't have to actually look like single-celled organisms, because that would be pretty damn boring. Haha.

I'll concept some more stuff tonight. Then pick out the best, and prepare it for our chat tomorrow afternoon :)

I can tell already this will be fun. I've never drawn anything fully in a program other than paint of flash. Haha. It will be good for helping me learn.
I started out simple to get into the groove.
This is for the cell stage, based on the hydra genus.

The front tendrals would beat towards the back, to propel the creature forward.
The little nosel at the end would be for firing projectiles. Or just looks if it's not mean't to shoot anything :)

Maybe I'll get a little more ambitious with my future concepts

Most of the stuff I do, is goofy cartoony art. So I'm sure I'll be right at home here.
This is my pretty standard art example that I like to use to show off some of my cartoony characters.

As was said before me though, this is pretty vague. If you don't want to openly discuss it at the moment, PM me with things like setting, and general plot.
Then maybe I can concept some artwork, and see what I can do.

An demo of the engine would be good too.

I actually thought leaders had already been assigned. But, ToaS seems to be doing a fine job getting us all together under one roof. So I have no complaints. If anyone else wants to step-up for it, then maybe we can vote or whatever.
But for now I'm thinking he's doing a fine enough job :)

To others talking about how to talk to each other, the cell team is all getting together for a big group chat on MSN this Sunday. We're all going to bring ideas, and concepts so we can bounce ideas off each other. I've never planned something in this way before, and am really excited to work with everyone!

Mobs come from top, player shoots upwards.

Screen Size
What's the screen dimensions?

My bad on the spelling, I noticed that after I posted D:
But okay, that makes much more sense. I was picturing this game like Metroid, running across a screen. But if you play as a spaceship this makes more sense.
Should enemies be like single-celled organisms? I guess that's something we can discuss as a team.

To pitch some ideas for the cell team to maul over a bit.
- Your ship is a pill of some kind fighting off infectious bacteria and viruses. Your inside an organism, fighting through it's digetive tract and such until you find a way out.
- Or YOUR the virus, and your trying to gain control of an organism. Like once you defeat whatever is protecting it's brain, you invade and take control of the organism.

Are all 6 levels going to have an interconnecting storyline? If so, than that will heavily affect the direction each level plays out

Alright, glad to be on board guys :)
I'm a part of the Cell team.

One thing that I didn't see before was that his will be "verticle" level...?
I'm not sure exactly what that means.

Does that just mean through the gameplay, you movie from the bottom of the screen towards the top, as opposed to left to right.
Also, I'm guessing that mean's we're either dealing with a top-down view, or a 2/3rds view.
Just some basic questions I should probably clarify before I start concepting some art.

Okay, I want to make a Snowboarding game in time for Christmas. This should give us plenty of time to work on it, and everything fully polished. My hopes are for a Newgrounds sponsorship.
Profits will be split 50/50 between the choosen actionscripter and I.
Depending on if I can hook us up with a sweet musician for some custom tunes, that might become 40/40/20 with 20 going to the musician.
Ad revenue will also be split in a similar fashion.

I need an ASer who can make a quality physics engine (safest bet would be with Box 2D) for a snowboarding game. There will be multiple characters and snowboards available, all of which are "bought" at a store using points you've earned.
They will all have their own special advantages and one move unique to them.

During gameplay, you can do flips, grabs, and one special.
Then, collecting objects on each run, and doing tricks will fill up a power meter that resets each level. If you fill it up, you do a mini-game for extra highscore points/spending points.

I have some character art done already. And this won't be like downhill snowboard, where all body movements are controlled by an engine. It doesn't look smooth enough to me, and wouldn't fit the style of the game.
I won't show any art I have, or discuss andy more specific info till I see some people showing some genuine interest. Then I can PM you privately about such things.

If anyone's interested, or has questions. Drop me a PM or post in the thread.
Thanks everyone.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Well, I submitted my part solo because it was like 75 seconds long, and it did quite well.

The problem with this, is that I've now exhausted my creative resources, and wouldn't know what to do for a small collab part :(
If you guys want to carry on, I might step down as leader of this. If anyone is willing, they can step up as collab organizer. I'll still help out if you want, just don't expect a part from me anymore.

Sorry guys

Hm. Well, I only have about 3 people confirmed actually working on parts for this right now.
So I'll extend the non-exsistant deadline so hopefully more people join up.
However you messaged about voice acting, give around 3 days I suppose.

You can always e-mail more people though, then wait for one to get back, then just tell the rest, "sorry, thanks for the response, but I have someone else lined up now. Thanks"

Okay - I'm getting a brainwave here

I just got a bunch of ideas that would make my part long enough for a solo submission. So now I'm kind of hesistant to host a collab where my part would be too long. I don't want to have to cut it down either.

Unless there is a huge opposition to this, I might shut it down so that I can pursue my solo part.
Again, I'm leaving the decision up to you guys. I'll put it off a day or two, and unless I get lots of people telling me to keep it going, then I may shut 'er down.

Opinions?

Well, for those of you who haven't heard, the great and wonderful LazyMuffin will be drafted on the 19th. Which is technically in like 10 minutes. But I assume they aren't waiting out his door waiting for it to be exactly 12 so they can drag him away from us!! Then again. Can't trust that there damn government!!

So, for those of you who want to send him off, give him your best, or just straight up make fun of the guy, this collab is for you!
For now I say the deadline will be a week or two. Maybe more, maybe less. We'll just have to wait and see what sort of sign-up list we get here.

Um, I only just decided to do this like 5 minutes ago.
So I'll say
24fps
650x400
white background

I'm not going to have assigned parts. I'll accept as many parts as I get that fit my standards of quality. They don't have to even be that beautiful, as long as they get some laughs. Best parts will get co-authored.
Feel free to post progress of your part so that I you can possibly get pointers.

When you part is done, just upload to spamtheweb (or somewhere similar) then PM in to me

Have with this everyone. Good luck to you and senior Muffin!

I'm liking the addition of medals to the art portal :)
I think that Monthly feature should have it's own special little icon though. Looking exactly like the weekly icon takes away from it slightly.

Seeing these new additions, I have to ask:
1) Does this mean the Flash portal will see the introduction of the briefly talked about front page medals?
and
2) Will there now be a medal for the featured movie/game of the month as well?
(ex. the winners of the monthly vote have a medal added to thier submission for that month)

Ah, gotcha then.
I don't expect it to be the new #1 gaming site. But it would be nice to have somewhat of a fanbase :)

Come up with a nice design, that's clean, simple, attractive and effective and you'll draw people in even if you don't offer anything really new. Change the wording of your site, make it more friendly than others refer to users like that mean something. Where possible (but not to saturate the site) have links saying "Your" and "My" so people get the feeling they are part of something. Less business like is more effective on the type of site you are looking to start.

All sound like reasonable, good ideas :)

I'm just glad that this thread exists, because for the first time in a long time on the programming forum I can actually support something and say "well done" and "good luck" with out being sarcastic.

And it's appreciated for sure. Having someone on your side is always good.
Maybe it will attract some people.
Nice

Yes and no, take a leaf out of people like Newgrounds. They make T-Shirts sell game figures etc. Ads pay when you get relevant, non-spammy looking ads, but only to a certain extent.

One time I actually asked Tom (I believe it was in the thread advertising the updated NG store) and he said like 90% of the money Newgrounds makes is through ad revenue.
But it probably helps that their getting millions of views a day
:|

Just don't put all your eggs in one basket and rely on ads (by this I mean, exploit them as much as you can get away with, but don't actually expect anything out of them).

Sounds good.
I also hope to not torture people's eyes with every square inch of free space whored out with ads.

Personally, I think you should start from scratch. Otherwise you could be inheriting more problems than it's worth.

Good advice. That helps, thanks :)

My 2 pennies anyway... I did do a business course at college though.

I suppose that gives you SOME credibility
