@Kensei
If you were to check out some of the work from legends that shit is awesome. It's weird though, I like graffiti, don't do it, and I don't listen to rap or hip hop. Hm.

Response to: Art Forum Lounge Posted March 21st, 2010 in Art

I was just wondering, does anybody on the NG Art forum like graffiti. Not that new shit from no talent artists, but the stuff from legends like Cope2, Ket, Shepard Fairey, JA, Futura, people like that.

No, because you can livestream your desktop.

Sweet, then I might be streaming later. MAYBE.

Alvin Lee
He is one of my favorites, He got introduced to me threw Udon Comics with his work on Street Fighter.
And Todd Lockwood for his works in D&D.
those are just two examples, but you can see the styles I tend to like.

That first one is really cool, though the second one wasn't really my cup of tea, I'm just not really all that into fantasy art. But hey, your talking to someone who is heavily into urban and street art. And with what you said about Shepard Fairey, yes, his coloring is really cool. If you ever get the cjance check out some of his murals. He takes his printed off posters and combines them all together in one piece, along with ripping them up and a few twists on some of the pictures. It is really cool to see him working, because the way he does everything is really cool.

For anybody who wants to check out an awesome artist check this out.

This is the official website of quite possibly my favorite artist, Shepard Fairey.

Yeah but with songs like Beer Beer, Happy Little Boozer, and Vodka, who could refuse a quick listen.

That one link is a video on youtube, and all the others are in the related videos section. Take a listen.

Happy St. patty's day everybody! I think I may listen to some Dropkick Murphys to get myself in the St. Patrick's Day spirit.

you can do better, thats like something a 4 year old draws, try drawing more detailed, even if they are cartoons they still need semi-realism

I know, I just wanted a short little break from the detailed pictures I do and just do something simple for a change. I drew this little guy in my notebook during Geometry and thought that it would look neat done digitally. That, and people seemed to get a little chuckle out of seeing him. I am actually starting work on a big piece that won't fit onto my scanner by a loooong shot. Though I will post some pics of progress, it will probably be done in 3-4 days in time for the art festival since I will be selling stuff there. Now if only my two paintings in the local gallery would sell.

That is fucking awesome. I actually said that to myself. If you want to make a book, may I suggest doing some of your little "comics" and, as i have told another artist on these forums, put them in an envelope and send them to SLG (Slave Labor Graphics). They publish stuff from independent artists.

I think M-Vero's advice is you best bet. Just look at your favorite artists and try to combine different concepts until you find something your happy with. It takes time, but it is worth it.

Gorillaz's new album, Plastic beach

I must say, I didn't know gorillaz was a virtual band until recently when I started digging in their story and stuff ...

As far as I know, Jamie Hewlett is co-author and is probably doing most of the art-related stuff.
I wouldn't know as I haven't been looking too much around for aweso artists ...
There is so many great artworks both in 2D and 3D, and I was wondering if he was really doing everything by himself?
It seems like a shitload of work to do considering all the pieces he has done ...

But then again, maybe with enough focus, patience and skills we could all do that?

I have been listening to Plastic Beach for a couple of days now, it's really good. (even though at the moment I am listening to Demon Days) Me being the big Jamie Hewlett fan I'm pretty sure he does everything. From what I know there is no current way to get any form of Gorillaz artwork, until they open their internet store again. The only form of 3D stuff I ever saw were limited edition Gorillaz Vinyl Figures, and those were pricey. If you like his artwork, read the old issues of Tank Girl.

I also recommend that documentary for anyone who doesn't firmly understand how fucked up the MPAA's rating board is. They're the reason why good movies aren't released.

Exactly, I don't even know why NC-17 is still a rating, because it says that if a movie gets a NC-17 rating then they don't allow it to be released in theaters. It also says that in the movie that nobody even knows who the people on the MPAA board is. I don't wanna give away too much, but they go dumpster diving in the MPAA dumpster and find all of these papers that say every explicit thing in the movie.
