OMG, YOU TOLD IZZY YOUR SEKRITZ. I thought I was gonna have some massive problems not telling him you got GTA1-2-3-VC-SA on Steam, but... you just went and told him yourself. Isn't it cool, iscrulz?
Well I just was browsing through the thread to see if Bahamut is enjoying the GTA. Cool right. So gfox I wish Fallout was Co-op Multi-player online then I would get Steam and a new powerful computer. I might get one eventually. Oh and I will give FF respect once it stops suck so badly.

Yes, it's too bad FO3 doesn't have co-op MP, that's for sure.

I am still here not to often though, I am still going to Bash FF. And gfox don't gfox don't play FF anymore, remember when I had to keep telling you to stop playing, next time I will be worst, and for the dragon You don't know how addicting Fallout 3. Get the PS3 and play it. Steal from your future brother-in-law if you have to.

The only reason I don't play FF currently is A) I played FF12 for like 350 hours from October 2006 to February 2007, nearly every moment of every day for 4 straight weeks aside from when I was at work and asleep... and B) there's no FF13 yet, and even when there is, I won't be able to get it right away.... and C) I have the FF12 DS game, but it's not as fun as 12 for PS2, so I never got super far into it.

BTW, I did play some FFX a few months ago. So.... HAH. Eat it.

Now I have to convince gfox, RR (if he is here. He is slacking on depositing) and Bahamut not to vote for me, if they don't that is even better. I am not active or contributed enough to be a Wi/Ht Member. I like trolling the newbs not helping them out.

TOO LATE. I VOTED FOR YOU, HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAH. </win>

Wait what the fuck happened to me. Oh no I have feared what will happen. Well I will see the other thread now.
Now that your 1st Little-Rena make me proud. Now try voting off ard to seal the top spot. (lmao)

Prolly need to get rid of zimzap as well to really lock down the #1 spot, though. They're both coming for it.

Hey hey, congrats to all the new Members, y'all really deserved it, although I think that iscrulz may meet this with mixed feelings, but I suppose it was inevitable. Special congrats to Corky on snaring #42 :)
You are right. Well 45 is a cool number. I guess I can finally retire this account from this place and start anew. I came in last for this update which means I was however close to not being voted in.

45 is the second coolest number in the 40s, actually, so... congrats on that. It's a good, solid #. And BTW, you were on the regularlist for 45+ months and now you're member #45. That's pretty cool, even if you didn't make it to the full 4 years/48 months of regularlistedness. #;-}>

It looks like we don't like it. Well I am proud to be on the list, such a distinction.

It sure does and to be honest, I wouldn't mind if this year went by really really fast. After all, we're getting a new season of Futurama next year. :D

HOLY SHIT. Epic linkz, man. Great news. I'd been hoping for this for 3-4 years ever since the movies were announced. I was always of the opinion that while some one-off movies are nice, I'd rather have actual episodes, an actual SEASON FIVE.... and now we're gonna get it? Most... fucking... EXCELLENT.

In an ideal world, it was the Simpsons that got canned after 4 seasons and had to be resurrected 6 years later for season 5, while Futurama went on to have 20+ straight years of eps. ;_;

I have to disagree with that. With hundreds of must play games, there's no getting bored of games after some time. ;) Hell, I could even play TF2 all day and I'd like to do that sometime just to see how I do.

No kidding. If you're a gamer with plenty of games, you have NO EXCUSE FOR BEING BORED, as long as you're not in a situation where you're cut off from your games, of course. #;-}>

I am still here not to often though, I am still going to Bash FF. And gfox don't gfox don't play FF anymore
No can do for gfox.

Huh?

Why can't I play the PS3 version so there's another PS3 game to play? Sure, there's a nice amount of exclusives, but MORE would be nice. After all, I've played around 90 PS1 games including demos and rents and my PS2 library is a tad lacking and the PS2 has one of the, if not, the biggest games library out of them all.

Just because you have a PS1 and PS2 doesn't mean you have to get a PS3. :::points at self:::

Oh yes, Holla certainly impressed us at his interview. Aside from his enormous and firm penis, he looked fantastic in a speedo, which is what we look for in BBS mods.

Thank god I was modded back before other mods had any input and it was just Wade and/or liljim modding someone... they didn't have a speedo test (at least, not for me). Whew.

<3 man. Okay I will respect it, but I will still bash it to piss off the FF fanboys.

I lied I won't respect the FF either, fuck that lame ass garbage. I will jump on every chance I see to flame a FF fanboy or troll FF content.

You fucking bastich.

I've waited a long time for this day. A day of (relative) peace between my brothers, when the black man and the white man can come together and AGREE... yes indeeeeeeeeed... Final Fantasy and Grand Theft Auto... both rule.

You fail at trying hard.

Damn GOW 3 isn't out yet. I haven't been playing GTA for months Now, I am finished with Fallout 3 I might play for nostalgic reason, Going around the Capital wasteland popping the heads off Raiders with the Lincoln's Repeater (Sweet ass gun, I seriously want a .44 magnum repeater rifle someday I will buy one) or nuka grenading the Super Mutants. Did I tell you I had to murder Fawkes the lovable Super Mutant from Vault 87 oh sorry for the spoilers.

Why would you HAVE to murder someone? FO3 tends to allow you to make choices, so I really doubt you HAD to do it, I'm sure you could have done something else instead of killing him. But anyway, don't bother answering why you had to do it, since that would be way more of a spoiler than finding out you just plain killed him with no context to it.

Any way I have Chinatown Wars (DS) still unopened *Slap* I am going to play it right after this or deposit.

Awesome.

Shame, look how easy it was for me to say GTA rules. Why can't you do the same thing in return for Final Fantasy?

The problem is, you tried GTA and liked it, and you're not going to lie and keep bashing it just to piss iscrulz off...

whereas he either:

A) has no intention of ever opening his mind to the possibility that at least SOME FF games might be fun to him.
B) will never play enough FF to learn to like it
C) will continue to keep bashing FF even if he actually DID play FF and enjoy it secretly

Doesn't matter which one's the truth, all of them result in more FF-bashing from the bastard. >:(

Its like GTA 4 but instead the map is flipped horizontal (northern part is now south) it is a tad too cartoony for me but it still is good. Scratch off tickets are really cool I won 200 bucks. I only played for 15 minutes, though.

WTF? Why would they flip the map over? So what, now the Bronx is in the south and Brooklyn is up north? That makes no sense whatsoever. It's fucking NYC, you don't just FLIP IT AROUND. O_o

Are you sure it's not just that the map system is handled differently, or that for some reason you end up looking at the map upside down, but north is still north?

Gotta give props to guys like Bahamut and Coop though. I think those two and yourself represent the current pillars of the Wi/Ht? forums to me... and also Recon, if he was around more often.

Yep, but Recon and Bahamut have never been mods, and Coop isn't showing any signs of his moddom changing his posting habits (thank god), so... the point remains that it is YOU, sir, that we are talking about here having problems balancing modding with being a good, loyal Wi/Ht?er. #;-}>

HMPH.

Also, when I was modded, I didn't see any decrease in my posting. It was years later when I stopped modding AND posting very much at all together that I became M.I.A. around here. Modding had little to do with it in my case, but interestingly demodding myself completely after having already been de-review modded due to inactivity made me reassess things and start posting more on Wi/Ht? back then in 2007... and while I haven't posted as much in 07-08-09 as I did in 03-04, it's certainly a step up from my 05-06 dormancy.
I think for me, being modded only decreased my posting rate in these particular forums. I moved more to General because there's a lot more to clean up there, to be honest, and I guess that as most (MOST) users who frequent Wi/Ht? are of a more mature / intelligent disposition, I didn't feel the need to come and mod here.

Ugh. I moved away from General in part because of being modded and getting disgusted with the shit I was modding there. Faggot this and personal attack that and spam this and OUTWAR LINKZ that. God, be thankful you missed out on the outwar linkspam craze of 2003-2004. Made life hell for BBS and review mods both. Especially review mods, though.

Anywho...

I ended up modding (if you can call it that) Wi/Ht? only, and since Wi/Ht? doesn't need no dedicated mods, it was only fitting that I step down once the admins started calling for people to be active in their modding or GTFO. I chose the wise path (for me).

I could have come here and not modded, and just hung out (like I'm doing now), but when I was first modded I wanted to pull my weight, so to speak, so I just did more of that than anything else. I think now I'm relaxing a bit more and giving myself more time to chill out... unless I'm working, or procrastinating from doing so, as I'm doing now. ^_^

Or you could come here and mod AND relax, and go mod elsewhere, but not stay in those nasty, nasty places for TOO long, lest they ruin your soul. #;-}>

TRUST NO ONE (reading).
Always the case when I'm reading literature now.

It's a shame in a way, because it's almost ruined the simple pleasure of just reading a book, as I'm constantly looking at it in critical terms and have to actually make an effort to just take it at surface value, or slightly-beneath-the-surface value, considering that I don't like to take ANYTHING purely at surface value. That's boring. :)

I never found it a shame. While it may not be "simple," deconstructing and overanalysing fiction is fun as hell, and thus a pleasure to me, even if a complex one, and has been such since at least high school, if not earlier.

They say ignorance is bliss, and in some cases I agree, but when it comes to entertainment/art, I disagree strongly.

I think the forums have gotten a bit less overtly mod happy. Sure you get the same reaction when a mod posts a thread and it gets a good number of replies when the same topic being made by a non mod would get less replies, but it seems to be fading a bit. (Or the mod whores have changed and I missed it)

Well, it's not just that that I meant, I don't think... just... I dunno. If mods and admins are made into fetishes/taboos, for lack of a better word (i.e. overly made out to be great OR horrible), those extreme POVs, even if held by a small % of the userbase, ruins a damned site. They need to just be other users as much of the time as is possible. Otherwise, it's like eating dinner at a restaurant next to a table full of cops. Sure, you know they're just people like you and they're just eating dinner, but you feel uncomfortable even if you've never done an illegal thing in your life.

one of us. One of us. One Of Us. ONE OF US!
Nice progression!
Why thanks. I'm always progressively thinking of new ways to enact my draconian laws upon the poor and crippled. Bwahahahaha! (I'm an aristocrat now btw)

Well, I just meant... nice capitalisation progression, but... yeah, that too. #;-}>

I was playing GTA4 The Lost and Damned and they actually do hold a guys face up against a spinning motorcycle wheel. Harsh stuff but I wouldn't recommend putting him through it because frankly, face to spinning tire torture is weak and girly. This kind of torture however is manly and will make him scream for dear life. >=D

DAMNIT, MAN! Spoilers much? #;-}>

Nah, I don't give a damn. Haven't finished GTA4 yet, and dunno if I'll be getting Lost and Damned afterwards anyway. I think it may be Xbox only, in which case I can't get it for Steam. But anywho... that was an excellent video. At first I was thinking "hm, this seems awfully tickling-for-the-sake-of-titillation," but as it went on and nothing too dirty besides the straddling was going on, I started to change my mind... and then I noticed some of the other videos by the same poster featuring tickling FETISH spelled right out in the movie titles, and I then realised: ah yes, of course the sexual connotation is just for the viewer, not for the participants. But of course. #;-}>

Same here. Everyone I was talking to here before kind of left around the same time and I haven't said much in this thread in general. I've also noticed I'm slowing down my overall posting in the Wi/Ht? forum. Seems almost every thread gets answered in a few seconds now instead of having a few minutes to find the answer.

NOoooooooooooooooooooooooooeeees.

See, kids? This is what becoming a mod can do to a great Wi/Ht?er... ;_;
He lost his career! His good looks went down the drain! Now he does unspeakable things to get his banning fix! Where did it all go wrong!?

Far, far worse than that. He lost his Wi/Ht? loyalty. ;_;

Wow I haven't done this multi post reply routine in a long time.

Well, it depends which console I'm going to get Fallout 3 on. I could get the Steam version right now or I could wait until I get a PS3. After all, I do need to get a good amount of games for the console once I get it and when will I get a PS3? It's only a matter of time.

PS3... blah.

If you really have to worry about having gotten too many multiplatform games for Steam and not having enough games to play on the PS3, then you should be asking yourself: DO I REALLY NEED A PS3?

Aside from one of the upcoming FFs and MGS4 and Little Big Planet and POSSIBLY Killzone 2, which looks like it might be good, I know of no other PS3-exclusive games that are THAT necessary to get a PS3 for.

Oh, if it has an exclusive Wipeout, then add that, I guess.

He better not bash FF ever again.
His reason for doing so most likely died when you got the GTA pack, man. #;-}>
Actually, he claimed he'll continue to piss off FF fanboys. He better not, though.

Yeah, that bastard is going too far this time.

Sure, but like I said... if I'm gonna forget something/get behind somewhere, I'd prefer it to be LUL anyway. #;-}>
Nooooooo, not the LUL. You have so much to say in there.

Says you!

Diet Pepsi isn't that bad to me. Hmm, maybe the tastes of these drinks are different over there. :P

Maybe so. Or maybe it's just down to personal taste.

We've all got different noses, tongues, and brains. And the three work together to make tastes very different for each of us, when you think about it.

For instance, I'm far more certain that when I and another person LOOK at something that we're seeing the same edges/shapes/sizes/colours the same way, provided one of us isn't blind, halfblind, or colourblind...

....but when it comes to food tasting? I can't be sure the other person is tasting it the same way I am. Taste is too.... um... can't even find the word for it. Too hard to pin down in a universal way, I suppose.

See, kids? This is what becoming a mod can do to a great Wi/Ht?er... ;_;
Does that make me a lucky dragon?

For not getting modded? Damn straight it does.

Prediction time: if Bahamut ever gets BBS modded, then gfox will get to threaten Bahamut with horrible horrible things if he doesn't come back to Wi/Ht? and POST MOAR, not the other way around as has been the 2007-2009 tradition.

That was one bad-ass survey. The only comment/suggestion I left was "MOAR SURVEYS, PLZ, TOM!" or something to that effect.

I liked the nice clean white layout with large radio buttons and good multi-select option checkboxes, too. FUN SURVEY TIEMS.

That's some pretty badass kbps there, dude. Unless you USED to be getting 10x that much on both DL and UL and suddenly it crashed down to that, your perception of everything being super slow all of a sudden must be caused by something temporarily slowing down your plenty-fast connection (at least, plenty fast when you tested it and got those above results).

Take the advice of the folks wanting you to make sure you don't have any crappy virii, trojans, or spyware slowing stuff down. Also: are you sharing bandwidth with other people (which might account for slowdowns)?

I admit, you've got skill to make stuff like that in MS paint. But let's face it, MS paint sucks. I suggest drawing on paper or on another program like Flash, Fireworks, or Photoshop.

Actually, MS Paint is fine for making one of the 5 categories of art allowed in the art portal: Pixel Art.

Instead of making semi-good looking sketch type art with MS Paint, if that dude instead learned how to make pixelated works of art, he'd be golden.

BAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. I'll slack off a tad too often all I want. The one thing I'd like to do, however, is have the time AWAY during those slack-offs be a little shorter. IOW, I'd like to have 1-2 week dry spells in between weekend catchups, say, and not have 2 months to 3 months to catch up on in large threads like LUL and EGRL, which just keeps me away even more.

Well, your loss. You'll be missing out on one of the most talented comedians on the internet right now.

Beh, I'll check it out sometime. How many votes a movie has is way more important than what your VP is in terms of how much your single vote is going to influence the score, which the post a few up may have illustrated somewhat.

Also, he's always been a very slow b/per, like I've become since resuming my save progress... so it'll take him ages to hit EGSC, at least. Longer than PMKD is likely to take, at least. And he's a FIRST DAY SIGNUP USER, from good ol' 12/15/1999, so if anyone deserves to be higher than me on the VP list, he's one of 'em. Good luck to ya, DrMSM. #;-}>

099) 12.48 +0.02 8.05 TimScheff Commander -3

Holy effin' epicness. I can't believe this!

First of all, I don't even remember if I knew we were all gonna get raped by someone-else soon or not (did we know that was coming, guys? Did we?) like I obviously have known (and dreaded) the rape incoming courtesy of Overtired for MONTHS now, but... that was EPIC.

Did you see that, Overtired? DID YOU SEE THAT? FAIL. #;-}>

Thanks to nimmer's missed deposits and thanks to Recon's apparent full retirement from exping... I REGAINED THE TWO SPOTS YOU BASTARDS DEPRIVED ME OF.

Mwahahahahah. FEELS SO GOOD.

Truly epic.

And don't try to bring me down by pointing out that had Overtired and someone-else not hit EGSC at the same time I was passing nimmer (iWalker) and ReconRebel... I could now be in the top 10 VP. I'm fully aware of that fact, but you see... the only thing I hate worse than not being in a top xx is GETTING INTO IT AND THEN IMMEDIATELY (or relatively quickly) BEING BOOTED RIGHT BACK OUT OF IT.

I don't remember if I had such difficulties getting into the top 100 or top 50 VP list like so many have had (Coop and the 50, jonthomson and FIGMENTUM and the top 100), but I know I DIDN'T have such problems with say the top 50 b/p or top 10 b/p (got knocked out YEARS later by my own choice, really) or the top 100 exp (and god-willing, the top 50 exp soon).

SO... those two bastards actually did me a giant favour by hurrying up and getting off their slow asses and hitting EGSC after all these years AT THIS PERFECT moment, because had just they both been a month later, I would have gone up to #11 and then the holy #10 and then immediately been SHOVED BACK DOWN to #12. Avoiding such a cruel fate is almost as good as getting into the top 10, which I now firmly believe will happen someday, anyway. And I don't need it as bad as I need the top 50 exp, anyway. #;-}>

So... thanks, you two. And to re-answer your question from April, Overtired:

Thank god for the 10 exp a day limiter!
True enough, but we don't suddenly start from scratch every year, do we? Otherwise you and me would be two of the users who maintain perfect depositing records for year on year.

Egad. There's a horrible thought. Well, we'd be in the runnings for "exp pennants" each good year we have, at least.

Also, BTW, just near perfect for me. As you might recall, I've had a few misses (no more than 1 or 2 per year, but still enough...) ruin the exp perfection of at least 2 or 3 of the past 5 years. ;_; Guess I'd just have to settle for a division championship for those years. #;-}>

Mwahahaha. I have that game on Steam. Fun stuff. I only got a few worlds into it, and was thinking about playing it lately, but been FPSing too much. I shall get back to it soon, though.
Wait another 10 days and Overlord 2 is out. The developers obviously frequented Newgrounds in their formative years, as they appear to have brought Club a Seal back in a neatly rendered game.

I noticed that, but it's 40 bucks. Also, it blows that the expansion of the first game will apparently never be coming to Steam unless the developer WAKES THE FUCK UP.

Yeah, I saw the club a seal pic. Fun stuff. They should pay royalties to Tom Fulp. #;-}>

More in my shadow than Bahamut is? Whysofor?
Bahamut is making the premium lists - The Experience and Pentalist are something that I don't think I'd be able to update. Don't get me wrong, I'm really happy at being able to update the Blams and Saves, it's just that I think they aren't as all-singing-and-dancing as the Exp and Pentalist.

Premium? Come now... I've often said that the Saves list was my very first major list, and as such it'll always have a special place in my heart. It kinda sucks that you don't seem to think it's up to par with some of the other lists around. #;-}>

Maybe it's the devaluation of the save in today's NG economy, but... you've got to think of lists from a historical perspective here. Once upon a time, a save was a great unit of currency, and who knows... perhaps we'll return to those days. Yes, out of control saveflation seems to be ruling the day, but... once upon a time we thought we'd never see the degree of blam deflation we've seen, so... anything is possible. #;-}>

If this were Overlord, I'd make sure you'd get one of those pumpkin helmets before the other minions beat you to it. LOVE THE PUMPKIN HELMET.
I always preferred the dead rat helm that they got.

That's a good one, too. </lazy sunday>

YE BE LEAVING A WAKE OF DESTRUCTION BEHIND YE. I take it those are the dudes gfox has passed lately, too.
Yep. I'm still chasing gfox. I must resist the temptation to miss deposits with deckheadtottie, now that he's given me control Mwahahaha!

Temporary control, I assume? Otherwise, there'd be no reason not to miss enough to pass him, after all.

And Mr-Snrub... goddamnit, that used to be a Wi/Ht? regularly, and I still remember him mentally by his ORIGINAL name, so I can't remember who that IS, if that makes any sense. ;_;

And EVIL-C and cap123... classic users.
Don't know them, though I did just pass Evil-C for reviews as well.

Well, I never posted with those last two, just epic/classic for their top 50 listness back in the day... but yeah, Mr Snrub was quite the poster once upon a time.

And you're only 40 exp behind gfox now, so he's bound to stumble and fall eventually. NOT SURE HOW I FEEL ABOUT THAT. #;-}>
Yeah, but that would be earth-shatteringly monumental. Not quite as monumental as me passing either gfoxcook or gfoxclock, but certainly an equal to me passing iscrulz :P

As you know, it's the closest you're going to get (in exp) for awhile (if not ever), so... you'll take it. #;-}>

Exactly. That's what I meant by classic/epic/top50list users earlier.

At 6/15/09 10:44 PM, gfoxcook wrote: Most of those 14, I assume, are way down in the 8k-10k range, at least?
Yeah, they're usually in that range, although I might have counted level 27+ users and not 8k+. I've actually forgotten what I based that on now. XD

Whooops.

Man, if you do a normal update on 6/28 and I'm still #51, and then I'm #50 for your "1 year anniversary" special update on 6/30..... as I just fantasized about above... that would be so fucking spectacular. #;-}>
Oh yeah, that'll be great. :)

I HOPE IT HAPPENS, OMG OMG OGM.

Yep, all I need is patience, but that becomes quite a challenge when you see users right in front of you who haven't missed a single deposit in MONTHS!

For every one of them, there's at least 2 people who are missing a few or a lot or ALL of their deposits (at least where you are), so take heart.

Now, once you get to the brink of the top 50 like myself and see 40 users who deposit as nearly perfectly as you do and only 10 who are flawed, THEN it's time to despair. #;-}>

Okay, but in the future once 8k+ is swelling out of control, I hope you'll consider trimming back down to 2000 and just keeping it locked there. It would make a good nostalgic reminder/tribute of/to BBB's top 2000.
Sure, I'll do that if there are far too many coming in, which will eventually happen but not anytime soon.

Huzzah.

Yeah, we'll have to see what I'm after by then. My most wanted games right now are Counter Strike + related games and id Software Super Pack. There'll be a few other games lying around on Steam that I'll be after. After all, I am trying to give support to Indie games.

Well, you got World of Goo for Wii, correct? There's an indie game you could buy a 2nd time to have it on Steam as well. #;-}>

I'd like to try Braid at some point, speaking of indie games on Steam, and there's a game called Blueberry Garden or something that just came out this month, maybe a week ago or so (don't know if you noticed the steam news popup for it when you logged in that day like I noticed it), and it looks like a game my baby would love a lot, so I'm hoping she gets it for herself. If not, I'll get it for her for her birthday or Christmas.

Bah Bah Blue Dragon have you any....What?
... have you any flaming balls of death and misery?
Bah Bah Blue Dragon have you any balls of death? Nah, that doesn't sound right.

Yeah, the meter is a bit off, but we can find a way to make it work, I'm sure.

It's hard to say since I wondered what myself and the others would do without listmakers such as D0GMA and SK back in 2003 - 2005. We all had to carry on without their lists and eventually got over it. If something happened to me, however, as far as the B/P lists go, I'd ask if anyone's able to take over the list.

Indeed. None of us is replaceable, certainly, and I miss the old crew, but there will always be turnover... anywhere in life.... as long as there is mortality... and flightly ADHD humans. #;-}>

I changed my mind in the end. Having 25 saves to get left is more appropriate than 100. It's just the blams I'm concerned about since I could get 80 all of sudden.

Ah, cool. Well, that's pretty much what I was telling ya, man, when we were talking about. I think I recommended 20 to 50 saves away, I thought 100 was way too far. #;-}>

Well, I´ll advise you the same as I advised gfoxcook (who got the same advise from someone else earlier): When you deposit your experience points, vote on under judgement entries ;) If you are a bit accurate, you could at least get 4 to 5 bp a day. It´s not much, but it´s a start and it´s double the amount you get now :p
Haggard said the same thing to me.

I already do that, man. The reason I don't get many B/P points from doing it is because I only vote on stuff that I want to blam right now, more than half of which gets saved in the end because of save-whores.

Give me some credit.

Sadly, the method Auz advises only works for save-happy folks like myself, not for people looking for just blams like yerself. ;_;

Yeah, if you really want to make blam progress higher than 2 blams per day, you'd have to be blamming for a lot longer than just the 5 minutes in which you deposit your exp while trying to snag some blams from 5 UJ entries if possible.

I was trying to get gfoxclock all the blams while I got gfoxcook all the saves when I do my occasional b/p spurt, but I've gotten too lazy lately. Now I just glance at the UJs in Opera, open them all (if I have time) or just the ones that seem likely to be good, and then save the good ones, and just close the tab on the bad ones, instead of pasting the URL over to Firefox for gfoxclock...

It really strains my OCD not to evaluate each and every UJ as long as I'm trying to UJ vote, too, but... I guess my OCD is semi-detaching itself from NG's flash portal. Which is probably a good thing.

WAYBACK MACHINE TIEMS:

http://web.archive.org/web/2003021422082 2/www.newgrounds.com/bbs/search.php?kind =a&terms=HeRetiK

Yes. First I went to www.newgrounds.com/bbs from April 2003, then I clicked on General... there happened to be a Heretik thread ON PAGE 1 (man, he was prolific back then), and I clicked into his profile (which still opens in a pop-up! LOL... man, I love you, wayback machine...)..

Then went to his postsearch, as in the above link... and what do you know, it's his postsearch from when he had 1474 posts, latest post Feb 13, 2003... so not quite April, but that should be good enough. :::searches:::

NOooooooooo... the first page of his posts is all there for me to see, including a post he made in my very first created thread that I linked to yesterday, but... IT WON'T LET ME GO TO PAGE 2 OF HIS POSTS. ;_;

Arghghghghg. Gonna have to hook up the old PC after all, I was hoping to avoid that. here we go...

Egad... no mouse hooked up to it, and the keyboard was under a pile of paper crap... setup screen started beeping at me continuously... :::removes crappile from old keyboard::: Let's try and do this mouseless (keyboard shortcuts and lots of ctrl and alt tabbing FTW)... Mmmm... Windows 98 start up screen. I miss you, Win98. ;_;

hey, here's a thread from 2005 about the noob trab (that was the title... well, technically, the title was "n00b trap") being deleted two years after its greatness:

http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/3455 80

and... in that thread, Heretik links to a thread that links to the ORIGINAL noob trap... in this post:

At 9/16/05 06:29 AM, HeRetiK wrote: this thread links to the original n00b trap.
http://www.newground../topic.php?id=3035 76

got it?

The thread is http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/3035 76... and it links to http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/4298 1/15 <--- page 15 of the original noob trap thread. Didn't I guesstimate 15 pages? That's freaky. O_o

Anyway, topic doesn't exist, yes yes, that's correct (grrr)... now to convert to oldschool NG URL and plug into ze wayback machine:

http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.
newgrounds.com/bbs/topic.php?id=42981

OMG, ONE HIT. Just one! But one's all it takes, baby. From October 1, 2004, a bit after its heyday:

http://web.archive.org/web/2004100106185 4/http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic.ph p?id=42981

BEAUTIFUL. WIN! YES! :::explodes:::

ahhh... mystery solved. :::smokes an internet cigarette after having nice internet sex with archive.org:::

Yes you can post anything for the MOST part.

HOWEVER, if you post child porn, rape, NSFW shit, etc, you can get your ass in REAL trouble. NG will delete your account and authorities may be contacted.

Other than that, if you feel like making a rant post, an insulting post to a mod or user, a story, etc, then you are free to do so. You can even spam your own user page and not get in trouble for it.

Don't take the freedom too far though.

I believe writing REALLY offensive shit won't get you in trouble either. Posting extremely offensive pictures will get you in trouble.

You're correct that pictures are more likely to get you in trouble on your own userpage than text is... but keep in mind that even with just plain ol' text, there are limits.

For instance, if sirtom had made his epic "I'MMA GONNA BURN MY SCHOOL DOWN" post in his profile instead of on General on the BBS, I guarantee you the results would have been similar had people noticed it right away that morning.

Leave the threats off the userpages is what I'm getting at here. #;-}>

Hooray for admins!

Can I just say that ignoring issues like this isn't the prudent thing to do - if there's a glitch on the site, it's always unintentional. It surprises me how many people find it easy enough to post a comment about issues on the BBS, who then never follow it up with a message to one of us (even a link to a thread is sufficient). I keep saying this, but we can't be expected to follow every single bbs thread in an attempt to track down bugs - we just wouldn't get anything done in the day if that were the case.

I'm not talking about the OP here, who did exactly the right thing by making contact, but in general. It's not like we're gonna snap your heads off if you report something, even if it turns out to be a false alarm.

Many people are intimidated by contacting someone they perceive as in an authoritative position to themselves. It's by no means a universal thing among everyone, but I'd argue it's defintely a part of human nature, stretching all the way back to when cavemen wouldn't want to look at/talk to the alpha male for fear of getting their head clubbed in for being presumptuous. #;-}>

And for the remaining people who don't have the above hangup, it's most likely just down to laziness.

Well put. Though as your earlier wording had hinted at, the "admin can see" should probably be "admin could see if they wanted to."

Back 5 years ago, review moderators could also see whistle points (not directly, but with some mathwork and link alterationings), but since then the review modding system has been changed radically at least once (haven't been one in 2 years, so it may have been changed more than once for all I know) + whistle points/whistles have changed in terms of where each whistle kicks in, also.

One thing I forgot to mention in my post a few pages back is that I LOVE that Tom included Steam as an online video gaming platform for PC. When I got to that question and saw the XBL and the PSN and the WiiWare... and then scrolled a little further and saw Steam, I was so happy I got to check it and that he'd included it.

Exactly. While I didn't think of the first one (the "not using your own computer" reason to not check that "I use a PC for gaming" box), the two that Corpsecrank mentions are exactly what I was gonna say to that punk. Some people just use PCs for word processing and the web and that's pretty much it. Amazing... but true. And yes, some people have crappy old PCs and can't game on them even if they want to. Both those groups would likely leave that box unchecked.

I'd love to see the actual stats once there's been a few weeks to accumulate results. Wanna see how the 3 current gen consoles (+ PCs!) stack up as far as NG users go. WHERE DO WE FIT IN ZE CONSOLE WARS, CAPTAIN?

Seems like it was fought out over several topics.

Nice finds! Of those 5, 2 leap out at me:

http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/4321 7
http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/4320 7

the former was made by Joliost3, who I don't recognise offhand... but the latter was made by the great HeReTiK... and both seem to be directly related to the thread in question. Neither IS that thread, though, no... lemme see....

Hm, I searched through a ton of Heretik's posts... from early February to early January 2003, and I can find 20 threads ABOUT the thread in question, but I can't find the thread in question!

The 43195 you posted above seems like a fairly early reference to it.... relatively speaking... and here's a thread featuring Heretik's "the war is over" conclusion picture to the whole shebang:

http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/4415 7

but... I'm starting to think the thread itself was deleted. (gasp)

:::searches through his own early posts to make sure:::

Jesus, I had to go back from page 393 to page 373 to find posts... I didn't realise I'd made 20 pages full of posts on the mod forum back in '03-'07... epic. O_o

Also, makes it hard for people trying to find OLD DIRT on me to find my very first posts to NG BBS. hahahaha. I WIN. #;-}>

And one of the very first threads I ever made, if not the first: http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/5065 9

ANYWHO, back on track:

well, I just searched (quick visual scans while paging down rapidly, then clicking previous page... I was looking for the PICTURES I would have been posting in the topic more than for posts or topic titles) from page 373 to page 335, where April 2003 began... and where (er... when) I was having a conversation about b/p rank goals with Recon Rebel in the LUL.... and by that time, by April '03, I was mostly in Wi/Ht? and not in General that much anymore.

So it's safe to stop looking.

The topic must have been deleted. Locked, sure, I can see that. BUT DELETED?

WHY, GOD, WHY. ;_;

Well, there's only one thing for it: I'm gonna have to find the URL/topic # in a bookmark/shortcut on my old PC that I need to hook up to boot up.... and then I'm gonna have to use archive.org's wayback machine to try and find it before it was deleted. And then I'll report back here. But... yeah... later. I'm wiped out from all this searching. SO PAINFUL to discover the truth, too. How could they... ;_;
