My posts in this thread have had nothing to do with the fap fap fap stuff. It was the flashing/strobing nature of a sigpic that caused me to remove it. It could have said FREE MARTHA STEWART with flashing colours behind it and I would have removed it just the same... or said fap fap fap like all the others do but without the flashing colours and it would have stayed.

All those bouncing heads and presumably jacking-off arms and whatnot are okay. They're not the same sort of brain-melting effect of a strobing/colour-flashing animated gif.

I can imagine one that would approximate it, so I hope that everyone jumping on board this trendy bandwagon will stop short of going that far. #;-}>

Simply being told that this topic was done before would not have offensed me, but it's just the way everyone flamed me and then you come and say "Do you think you're the only one who complained about this" Sorry i dont want to crititize (spelling?) your way of talking but I felt like you were insulting me or something.

No, I was asking you a question. Perhaps a bit sarcastically, but it was only because of how you were reacting to Dobio's correct... albeit all-caps... advice.

And about the spelling errors, dont mind them, I speak second english only. (I think I'm not so bad for someone who speaks 2nd english :P)

What spelling error? The realise/realize thing was Mysterio's problem.

He saw you type "realise" and called you an idiot for typing it that way and told you it's "realize," and then I called him a moron because BOTH ways are correct. Realise is the British way of spelling it. Realize is the American way of spelling it.

That had nothing to do with you, that was Mysterio's error. O_o

So I'm sorry Gfoxcook. But yeah I still think that the way other poeple flamed me and chef11 is unfair. Also for the poeple who think I should get banned I dont think that's gonna happen. Not for anything I said in this topic anyway.

The worst that would happen to you over this topic was it being locked. I still don't see who flamed you besides Dobio, and his was mostly an attempt to get you (and anyone else reading this who wants to complain about Outwar) to understand that it's been done before, and that you should mark those reviews as abusive and leave them to the review mods and admins to handle...

IOW, don't waste your time and others' time on the BBS making threads about something we all know about already, etc. etc. etc.

Not a big deal, though, which was the only thing I was trying to impress upon you. You've taken the response to your first post a bit more heavily than you should have.

Is it a bannable offence to do it, or just illegal. Because i could go and kill someone and you couldn't ban me. I'm tempted to make a epilepsy inducing sig pic. I better fight that temptation.

If I say something is illegal, and proceed to advise someone on something, and all the somethings in this sentence refer to something ON NEWGROUNDS, then it can safely be assumed I'm saying it is illegal to do it ON NG.

Killing someone is NOT illegal here, because it is impossible to kill someone ON NG, and thus has no place in the rule list. And indeed, you will notice that internet murder is not on this list:

http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/rules.html

you will also notice the rule I mentioned:

"Flashing or strobing gifs are not allowed. Also don't try and be a smarty-marty and try to post something semi-obnoxious. If the moderators see anything that even touches infringement of the picture guidelines, they will most likely ban you. "

As you can see, it's up to individual mods to decide what to do. Since we can now delete sigs or sigpics, I just deleted his sigpic, but yes, if he continued to upload strobing images to his sigpic, I could ban him for it.

If you were to make a strobing sigpic after clearly noticing me deleting someone else's, I wouldn't hesitate to ban you immediately do to your obvious knowledge of the rules and apparent disregard for them and eagerness to flaunt them.

I should see that sometime.

Anywho, even if the first 100 people who had AIDS were all gay, that doesn't mean that "ONLY gay people can get AIDS" which was the original question... how many think that, and where did that belief come from.

It comes from the fact that, as you said, AIDS became a problem among mostly gay males at first.

It was also being spread through blood transfusions and drug use (teh sharing of needles) at the very beginning as well, though, not just sex (gay or straight alike).

Blood transfusions have more or less been eliminated (in the USA at least) as a cause for recent infections, but needle sharing and unprotected sex remain.

Wierd. Mine doesn't look like that at all.

What browser are you using?

MSIE 6.0.2800.1106

I never thought to check teh source colour.

In any event, it's nifty that it's actually displayed as the shade of grey specified in the source on your screen, but I know I'm not alone in teh pattern being displayed, as I know of other people who have it displayed that way. Perhaps it's due to some obscure setting in IE somewhere, or maybe it's due to me running Win98 in 16 bit colour mode... or... well, who knows.

Well, I just checked in Foxfire, and it's the exact same pattern, so it has nothing to do with browser. Maybe it's 16 bit mode, then. You must be running in 32bit or something. TEH MYSTERY.

All I know, though, is that people who make their sigpic background colour 2D2D2D end up with a slightly-clashing background with the rest of the BBS on my display. WEIRDNESS.

The BBS background "colour" is actually a fairly small pattern of two colours together. It's criss-crossing darker stripes over a slightly lighter grey background.

diagonal criss-crossy interlacing pattern:
R: 32 G: 32 B: 32
(#202020)

+ shaped pattern between diagonals, aka the background:
R: 47 G: 47 B: 47
(#2F2F2F)

So... take your pick, or go with anything in between #202020 and #2F2F2F...

OR... do what I did and just use transparency, since that's the only way your sigpic background will ever match the BBS background perfectly.

Then I got a new computer and didn't bother continuing to the use the old keyboard (mostly due to having an ergo one and getting used to that instead), so I just typed it out manually since 1997.

Keeping it in the clipboard would be amazingly insane and irritating, as I use ctrl-c and ctrl-v quite often for other tasks. I can type it a lot faster than you can imagine, too, so... anywho. It's no biggie to use, which is why it gets used to often unconsciously.

Regarding what you were doing... yes, he's flaming you for complaining. Why? Because many others have complained as well. Do you think you're the first person to complain about outwar spam in either reviews or on the BBS? Not by a long shot.

Also, as my first reply to you suggested, you're misinformed about the subject. There isn't just ONE person doing it. And even if IP banning was as easy and precise as you seem to think it is, there will still be more and more outwar spammers who come here for the first time and spam reviews all over the place.

One thing you neglected to mention in your original post was that all the link spammers who've reviewed Ultimate Flash Sonic are banned (when I first read your post, I was thinking "OGM! YAY! BANS!" but when I went to check it out, they were already all banned, including one by me, in fact.).

The review mods are doing their job, and the admins have a lot to keep up with, but they get to all bans eventually and deal with them. Relax, don't make pointless topics that spam up the BBS with stuff we all already know, and... mark the fuckers abusive, okay? That's all you can do. Or you can make more topics like this one and waste all our energy and time, too.

The reason it says "a polite reason for bannage" on the ban window is not to get mods to say "please" and "thank you" in their reasons, though I often do say "please read the rules" in mine... but merely to remind some of the... more flamey mods that they shouldn't use the ban message as a vehicle for flaming the noobs.

An author that IS good at those little diversion things is Palahniuk. It's always some interesting bit of biology or chemistry or psychology that he throws in there. There's no real points in his books where I start saying "FUCK FUCK FUCK I DON'T FUCKING CARE", unlike in Tolkien novels.

Did you ever stop and realise that the only reason Tolkien wrote any of LOTR to begin with was his love for languages, and that all the poems and songs and other stuff that you and others in this thread didn't enjoy about LOTR are the REASON LOTR even exists to begin with?

Plenty of people enjoy the full world of Middle Earth and all that Tolkien cared to put into it. If you find yourself irritated by his writing half the time, that might just be a sign that you're not suited to it, and you should stop reading his books. Just maybe.

A good 9/10ths of the people on the BBS talk to others that come to the BBS in some other way besides the BBS.

that is a vast overestimation. And besides, I didn't say talk to SOME others, I said talk to everyone else. Because the only way we'd ALL know about a banning through non-NG communications method is if we were all connected and talking off of NG. And I can assure you way more than 1/10th of the people who post on this BBS are not.

And not everyone constantly and regularly posts. There are plenty of people who pop in for a few posts every few days. And if they got banned once they were done posting... or didn't get banned... you wouldn't be able to tell unless you were expecting a reply a few days later like they usually give you... and you either get it or don't get it at that time.
Yes, this is true, but those people really don't make the BBS come to life. In other words, they are boring. They post in afew topics, make long, thought out statements, then don't come back for 1-2 weeks and don't reply to the people who replied to their posts. Those people make me sad.

You make me sad by insulting anyone who doesn't post here enough for your liking. ;_;

IMHO I think a great option to add to the BBS would be a poll. In each post you have the option to make polls, this would eliminate most of the "What is your favorite/worse/best _______."

If we had polls here, the general forum would dump topics onto the second page in less than half the time it currently takes. No one would be able to hold a normal conversation topic for longer than 2 or 3 posts unless it was about something sexual, because all the polls would be swamping the front page of general.

No, if polling were enabled on NG aside from Tom's polls on the front page, there would have to be a separate forum for it, and General would still get plenty of "what is your favourite/worst/best ____" topics. There is no solution.

It's usually because my infinitly small brain can't think of anything useful to say, and therefore i post an unbelievable funny and witty comment. But i feel that some times moderators should give a little more warning before a ban. I understand that you shouldn't be doing anything wrong to recieve a warning or a ban in the first place. But in the 2/3 times i've been banned if a MOD had just said to me "Don't do this, it's wrong" I would have stopped posting in that topic (I believe all my bans are due to spam) and just let it die. There, i'm already trying to get out of the habit of posting one liners.

Wow. That was really impressive. Great turnaround there, TentacleHentai. You've done yourself proud by jumping from one-liners to long, well-thought-out paragraphs such as that one.

Now you are no longer in ANY danger of being banned, you can rest assured!

that also annoys me to no end. the post that just read "yes" or "no." or even worse the "hahaha LOL OMG". yesterday i told some guy off for doing that "of course in a sarcastic manner". God, it just erks me because its not helpful or informative or entertaining at all.....which makes it useless......except for whoring that post count......

i think i'm ranting too much......

OGM... yeah... there is nothing worse than those short-ass pointless posts...

unless it's someone who can't stop ranting about people making short-ass pointless posts... that's even more pointless, you know?! MY GOD, if I saw someone ranting about that right now, why... I'd ban him good and quick!

Oh WAIT....

Also, if it is someone who regularly posts and they don't post for awhile, you can pretty much tell that they got banned.

not everyone on the BBS talks with everyone else via AIM, YIM, MSNIM, or e-mail.

Plenty of times, people just get distracted by real life and don't post for awhile. Are they banned? Who knows (but the mods, of course).

And thus the reason why i am in constant fear of getting banned.

:::immediately checks your posting history:::

eh... telling someone to go look at gay porn doesn't count.

If there's one thing you should be worried about, it's your habit of posting constant one-liners and short posts in general.
