There Will Come Soft Rains-fallout Posted August 11th, 2010 in Video Games

Did anyone travel and get this reference? Or maybe you saw it and didn't know what it was?

In Fallout 3 when if you Travel a little south of North Georgetown in the ruins of D.C. you'll find a townhouse. On the side of the building there will be a sign that says BRADBURY Steet.

Go inside you will find a deactivated Mr.Handy upstairs. Activate the terminal next to it and it will read "Welcome Mrs.McClellan"... go down to "Read Children's favorite poem."

Mr. Handy will get up and go to the childrens room downstairs, where you'll find the lifeless charred skeletons of the children in thier beds. Mr. Handy will begin to read a poem called "There Will Come Soft Rains" by Sara Teasdale.

This whole area is a reference to famous science fiction writer Ray Bradbury's short story: "There Will Come Soft Rains"

The short story is about a robotic home whose owners were killed in a nuclear bomb. Even though it's owners are dead, it still continues it's daily duties, until eventually being destroyed by a fire.

The sign on the side of the street says Bradbury street, a reference to the author himself.
Mrs. McClellan was the female owner of the house, who apparently asked the house to read poems to her. When the house asked her for a prefrence and there was no answer, the house read her favorite, which was "There Will Come Soft Rains." The same poem as in the game.

I thought it was actually really neat they put this reference in, especailly since it's kind of vague, and the setting is pefect for it.

What I'm asking is, when (or if) anyone saw this reference, did you pick up on it and think "Holy shit! It's the short story!" and to those who did, what did you think. Or did you think "What the hell is this?" If so, hopefully this info helps.

If you havent checked it out, do it. It's actually pretty cool, and kind of creepy.

Are you making an unclever gesture about how Scott Pilgrim vs The World is similar to a video game, and asking "How to Play?" questions in attempt to be witty?

Lol.

Me and 4 other friends are seeing it on Tuesday. I cannot fucking wait.

And I love how the first "GAY" comment is looked down upon. Honestly speaks to most of your characters, and I respect that.

I'm an incredibly Novice sig maker (As you see by my pathetic comic at the bottom). I'd like to learn how to make some cool looking ones though.

Is there any free programs I can use to make... well, at least decent ones?

Like sweet text and backgrounds?

Right, but then there are games like Mass Effect 2. I haven't played it, but it takes 2 discs to play the game, and apparently it's for that same reason. So there can be large tangents in the story. I say Fallout 3 did a pretty decent job of a karma system with 1 disc. If you add more software, I think developers can go deeper into an amazing karma system.

Even if we didn't know for sure he was Cole, listen to what he says in the E3 trailer.

He's running around (USING ELECTRICITY) and says
"Some shit never changes.....(Uses Ice) well... maybe some things."

Why would he be joking about something that we were suppose to be suprized about, if it was an entirely new character??

You raise a valid and oft forgotten point.

Sure, i won't argue with that. But on the other hand, If i game is somewhat ugly but the gameplay soars... i could really care less. Isn't having fun what matters the most?

Take Killzone 2 for example. BEA-utiful game...... but yet a mediocre shooter. I couldn't even fully enjoy it cuase i got bored about 20 minutes through the game.

Hard? Meh. I suppose.

Annoying? As Fuck he was.

It took me about an hour, but I guess it's mostly luck of where he lands when he teleports.

Right.

If you find a way to hack, and play in a private match, offline, or etc. Cool, I'll join you.

But, really. Stay away from the online. Why do you assholes ruin the challenge and fun for everyone else either on the leaderboard or the actual game room. Fuck off and let us play the game.

"Console experience". Right.

Misquote.

Wow. I did not see this coming.

Recently at E3, Mr.Valve comes up and says that the "Best Portal 2 Experience will be on PS3".

I think this is great, but Portal 2 coming to PS3 in the first place makes me ecstatic!

I remember playing the Orange Box on PS3 (First Valve game) and thinking even though it's an iffy port, it's so fucking awesome! Especially Portal, which is one of my favorite games.

But, when The Orange Box for PS3 was released (if you didn't know) Gabe (Mr. Valve) says that... well basically, the PS3 is a piece of useless hardware, and will sink into history as one of the worst systems ever made....Ouch.

And suddenly, he makes a U-Turn and says that the bets experience will be on PLAYSTATION?

Personally, I'm wicked pumped for Portal 2 for my PS3, and apparently a kind of Steam will be available for PSN Users?
OMG Excited!

How are other PS3/Portal Fans feel?

I know most X-Box 360 users are probably like "Whoopdee-shit, who cares?" so I just wanted to say before you flame that im not rubbing it in your faces.

Okay, say you could load your self into Newgrounds. And you were given a weapon.

With it, not only could you ban any user at any given time, but you could also blam any flash you wished straight out of Newgrounds' existance.

The Ultimate Blaminator

What would this weapon look like??

The "balls" to steal? Isn't it harder to get a job, work for your money, and actually spend it to pay for your leisures?

It seems most of the world has more "balls" then you.

Good Mike and Program Combo? Posted January 27th, 2010 in Audio

I've always wanted to do voice acting. I tired my hand at flash and I realized i didn't have the time or budget (or skills for that matter) to do it. But I love acting.

So i was wondering, is there a decent microphone and program combo i could start out on? To see if this is for me?

also, im think im in the right section to post this. If not could someone direct me?

Weird PS3 Problem Posted December 29th, 2009 in Video Games

I have run out of places to look, so I come to you.

Now I have had my PS3 since release (The "Rare" 60GB Backwards Compatibility) , and I don't know why is does this.

Whenever i turn on the PS3, all my other things in the house that are connected to the internet suddenly freeze and stop working, and have to wait or set them back up to use them again. And when I log in to PSN and then quit game, it does the same thing, and then signs me off PSN.

Its a minor inconvenience, but I'd rather find a way to fix it, and stay logged into PSN when I quit game, or not have my other Internet things quit working.

Does anybody know why this happens? Or better yet, how to fix this problem?

Bad Dialogue Posted December 20th, 2009 in General

I recently watched the movie "Speed" and thought to myself,
"Oh my god, that dialogue was so horrendous!"

Then I thought it would be a good idea for a forum post.

So Newgrounds, name a piece of dialogue from a movie that was insanely cheezy, and or spoken with such terrible acting that it made you puke in your mouth when you heard it, or burst out laughing.

Movie, line, and if you can... actor.

Worst line wins.... something.... awesuuuummm...
