This is just a sketch demonstating female Lywraith anatomy (one on the right.) compared to female human anatomy(one on the left.) and where I exactly extended the body of the human form. The human anatomy example is a little bit off with the right breast shape but I just wanted to show the general idea.

The ab area is divided into 3 parts with the lywraiths, were human its two. The things that appear to be breast are also a little farther apart and the neck is also a bit extended vertically and compressed horizontally. If you look closley to my second and third post my proportions match or close to it in my opinion.

So thats the logic behind my anatomy madness with those paticular creatures and again im aiming for it to look "wrong" to apear unatural.

I will eventually draw out zinix's anatomy compared to human.

This was done with graphite originally. I tried scanning this a few times to get all the shading details but I couldnt get it to pick them up. I gave it a glow effect in photoshop elements 8 and im pretty happy on how it turned out.

My friends made a band called "The sending" and they play metal, alternitive rock and some classic rock covers. The guitarist is pretty phenominal and from a attempted non bias standing I think they really have the potential to make something out of themselves. They asked me to come up with a album cover and they asked for "crazy shit" so this is what I came up with.

Mcsanta again. Done with Crayola crayon and markers with colored pencils and gel pens. This didnt take long at all to do. Still trying to establish a style for this character.

Im going to be honest, I got the blade idea from safer septhrioth, I just thought it was so awesome :p. With the third picture, I know its hard to see all the details. I took the picture with my digital camera and there was glass over top of it with my flash on D:. but if you look closley the main figure standing up does indeed have two hands not distorted in ways of having blades, tenticales or intentionally distored fingers/ hand formations. I will get the picture scanned eventually. Also with the first one I think got a little distorted from resizing to meet the requirments.

Even though people telling you your work is great is nice, I find it more to your advantage when people constructivley tell what they didnt like and why which is what I requested. I understand how some people into art can be very full of themselves and think that there work is the best thing ever. But there really is no such thing as the "best" in my opinin because it all falls down to the eye of the beholder and what people think is right or wrong or good or bad. Like I know alot of people that think tim burtons style is terrible but yet I myself personally think its great. same goes for anyone trying to make there own original style.

I mainly get inspired by videogames or band album art which im into pretty much any kind of rock including metal. which you often see figures being distorted in a unsettiling way.
Unfortunatley I dont have any more pictures I can upload today cause most of them are at school. Ill have a few up tommorow. But as for applying for art school I have gotten some postive feedback. I wouldnt consider myself a professional not by a long shot but rather showing I have the potential to become one which is mainly what the schools are looking for. With what I want to go into all my stuff has to be from my own mind.

I sorta see what mean with the butt on the third picture and I understand how it seems I try to avoid drawing faces with all pieces I have posted so far. The figure or figures have hands in veiw even though I wouldnt count the lithography one of the phantom thing holding the scythe.

Now that you specifically pointed it out to me I might of went a little overboard extending the torso. I was trying to give a slight unsettling feeling with the abnormal body porptions not so much with the first one. I wanted to make his deformed arm purposley longer then his normal one (refering to the zinix pic). I guess you could say the same thing with a style like tim burtons about body proportions being exaggerated to the point where it doesnt look right. like you said to each his own. Ill post pictures with faces soon.

I also feel that faceless figures give a feel that ones with faces dont. Thank you very much for specificaly pointing out what you thought was wrong. I will definatly keep these critiques in mind, im still learning as well everyone else is, no matter how good something is there can always be room for improvment.

I never disregarded your suggestion and I really do appericate your opinion. Its nice having a literate person tell you how you can improve. For anatomy though I mainly use this source for basing all my anatomy proportions. http://figuredrawings.com/learnproportio ns.html

Im trying clash realisim with comicbook/anime with those old medevil style drawings which I understand might look horrible to some people.

I draw proportion lines and extend them a bit. I have drawings with faces but none with me at the moment and the faceless creatures you see are my original creatures I call Lywraiths. The panel on the left side has a figure (the one standing up) has hands. The second peice I put up was lithography print and the shading is very limited and that is just the solid master print with no other media on it. I was going for a film graining/graffiti look with a nightmare before christmas feel.

If you have any pieces that demonstrate anatomy that are distorted but you think look correctly can you please show me. and what anatomy wise looks wrong specifically to you. (such as the head is to small or the arm is to long ect. ect.).

As for the style not being appealing. Art wise there are alot of fields. Everyone has there own opinion on whats good and what isnt.

This picture was done in graphite with coffe wash. The characters I draw that I have up so far arent entirley human so there anatomy isnt going to reflect human anatomy entirley. I did recieve a certificate of congressional mention by dave camp in the contest I entered this in for original concept

Alright thanx I do appericate the critique. this isnt all I have and I dont generally draw "dark" stuff this is just the stuff I have that happens to fit in my scanner.

Its just an original character of mine. I guess I havent really thought about what is exactly whats going on yet other then a pose. This is the only picture ive drawn of this character so far. The character itself is part of a clan called the necromancers and everyone of them has the ability to manipulate energies such as gravitational, kinetic, electric, heat, light ect. ect. which is how he can hold those swords. The name necromancer comes from them having the ability to harness the electrical energy produced by the brain and able to place in any kind of organic container such as a lifeless corspe and operate it like a puppet. And opps about sounding like im appling for a job XD

Hello everyone. Im currently a senior in highschool and im trying to pursue a career in character design or graphic design for video games and band album art/merchandise. Right now im constructing a portfolio to apply to Kendel school for art and design. Im trying to come up with my own style of drawing with a few OC's of mine. This paticular one happens to be Zinix from a story idea I had. Please let me know what you guys think on the style and the actual character apperance wise. Ill post more work of mine later in the week. if you would like to follow me at deviant art there is a link at the bottom of the page. I just made a dA so ill have more stuff on there as well as posting pictures here. All my stuff is made by traditional mediums. If you have constructive critique please share :).

Materials used for this picture were prisma colored pencils and colorless blender, graphite pencil and a torillion and watercolor paper.
