there are several ways you can either shift the whole stage if its controlled by the keyboard you you can just load moveiclips to certain locations and make them appear when the player is near them, similar to the first one, but it can be laggy if the whole level is in 1 movieclip, so try the second maybe

Parrallex scrolling eh? i did that way back when i was using AS2 , pretty easy 10 lines of code maybe less

true but it can be more lines dependant on how effective and robust you want it to be. So technically this is your alt account if it is made after

The technical term is called parallax scrolling. And I won't do all of it and give you a tutorial on how to accomplish this in flash, but you have the name, it should be easy now.

Just to be clear, you are just not optimising the code but building an entire A list game on top of this structure if you wish, so you will need more skills than just taking the code I have and adding to it. I don't think it was clear so here is another preview level:

Preview Level

I have removed the menu and some other stuff so it is a suprise :)

I hope that clears things up a bit more

Thanks in advance.

Just to give you an idea how most of us thing. Generally, it's easier to build from scratch than add on to something that doesn't have the same 'flow' as our preferred method of programming/organization.

If its like that then its a 50/50 split of all money earnt and any Actionscript you want

Well seeing most projects are at 0% completion when started I would say 60/40, that is not fair unless you think the code and design stuff I have done already is not worth that much extra. Your choice

The coding I have done already is in AS2, if you decide to code in AS3 I wont be able to help out as much as I could with AS2, but tbh I don't wish to as there is a lot of art to be made, so it's your choice, again.

ok cool thanks, but its not just the code made so far that needs to be changed, things like enemy AI and maybe physics or advanced vehicle parts require programming too.

Haha thanks anyway, if you ever do feel like flash and I don't have anyone, you're welcome, I don't think I will be that addicted to mw2.

I need a seriously experienced programmer for the game that I decided to make again. The game is called Half-Life: Decampment and its a flash version of the popular game, Half-Life 2. I will be the artist for the game as well as the designer, so I only need a core programmer to code in AS. So far I have 800 lines of code that is basically the player movement and the shooting of 4 different weapons. I have the first levels are completed as well as level designs for a few other levels. The menu/preloader is 99% complete it just need adding to the actual levels in the game. I will show you some stuff here but for other people I don't want to ruin the game for you because there will be a story :)

If you are interested or require some more information just pm me or post here, thanks

OK guys after checking through EVERY page, there are about 50, from the old collab I managed to find about 0 .fla parts. The few I did find the links did not work, they are probs timed out so they dont work. I think all the others got sent to ZeroBeams email address, so we are gonna have to PM everyone who did finish their parts and ask for them again, can anyone help me? I am also going to contact people who were still making their parts in the collab.

I was interested in a different os seeing windows is sometimes a real piss take and seeing I wont be able to afford a mac until next year. I may instal it on my old 40gb hard drive that is being replaced. About the running of 3ds i found that on a forum that explained how people got it working in ubuntu, most refer to blender but tbh i dont like the interface so might be wasted hours learning it again.
thank you again for all your help :)
I think the outcome would be to instal windows, maybe 7, and at a later stage potentially installing a linux based system, i also looked into debian but didnt think it was as good

Do you need my part Funky? Or have you been able to get it through old forum postings or something?

Also, lemme know if you need help with something.

I could do with some help regaining all the parts that were completed, i would need all the .fla files. And if they were sent to zerobeam via pm then we may have to contact the author directly to see if they still have their part, im gonna work on improving the menu and interface.

First press ctrl+shift+F12.
Now uncheck the box that says export hidden layers

2. How do I reset Flash preferences to the defaults

First press ctrl+shift+F12
There should be a little icon button at the top that you can import your own profile, select that and choose the default one

I'd appreciate any answers, thank you very much.

thanks for all the info a few things:

first i know some programming languages and can use the cmd, but im guessing it wont be needed?

also by using a linux based operating system and using a windows emulator in it aparently runs programs better than in windows itself, with the 3d stuff i doubt the actual 3d graphics would be better but it gives you the choice.

the new internal hdd would be blank, is it easier installing unbuntu from the get go or try windows then ubuntu afterwards?

thanks :)

Well i do have other computers and a small netbook for my dtp kinda stuff, on this computer i am looking to use most of the adobe suite and also 3d max seeing i have not learnt any new ones yet such as maya and blender that i really should

You also haven't said how competent you are with computers and operating systems in general.
installed 64bit vista a few times, and have burnt an image of ubuntu on a cd ready to be installed

Stick with Windows, a bigger hard drive is no reason to change your platform.

true, but if you have windows already installed you can dual boot? i think ubuntu recognises windows and asks if you want to when installing it?
