Excellent, and I've got the melees...I knew practically living on a farm and having pickaxes and hay hooks and stuff would come in handy.

As for MWC, AWESOME...I think I might enter that myself. Prize here I come. XD

In my defense I didn't say it couldn't be done, I just said I didn't see how. But now I do.
Still, I'd prefer to stick to my own IP.

But you do raise a good point. I do have a story idea (besides a fantasy novel that I keep trying to work on, but I get so caught up in the religions of the books nothing ever gets started) that I had thought about trying to make a manga, but after some research and discovering demon comics are way overdone, I decided to peddle it elsewhere...this might be a good place to get it edited.
*cocks shotgun*

Oh, yes...

This actually does give me an idea for a possible MWC. How about a *gasp* fanfic, only the challenge is to take an incredibly two dimensional character and give him or her actual depth and development.

To each their own, perfectly understandable. As for the shotgun, oh dear, did I touch a nerve? XD

Incredibly two-dimensional character with plot and development... *ideabulb* I could rewrite Twilight!!

...no, wait, crap, I never read the books because they induced nausea in me. Well, not to worry, I'll think of something.

P.S., can someone tell me what MWC means...? XD

I wouldn't really call it a crutch...more like a target practice before I go out to the real war. :D

(I can write original work, but I get really self-conscious when I do because it feels unoriginal and cliche. When it comes to FanFics, most people don't care. XD)

As for female perspective, well, that's just fun in it's own right. Hahaha~...

I don't see how basic character development would work with already established characters.
If you want to learn how to create interesting, relatable and engrossing characters wouldn't it be more logical to create your own, rather than using already existing ones?

Normally, yes, it would, but I don't really want to work on my own characters until I understand how to make one real and relatable (my problem - I try to make them too in-depth and end up with some kind of godmod spawn with an inferiority complex).

And actually, you CAN do good character development using previously made characters. Unlike fandoms such as Star Wars where everyone is described and generally their motives are clear, some of the ones I subscribe to have characters that they don't delve into much detail on, or else the series is ongoing and there hasn't been much in the way of development per se (being a big fan of kids' shows who get canceled all the time, this makes for GREAT practice, trying to write in a past or a future for someone who has none.)

But you do raise a good point. *yawns because it's mother-freaking 5 AM and realizes no one's going to care anyway*

I dunno, I felt inspired when I saw Fro started this thread. I feel kind of awkward, jumping directly into this thread when most everyone knows each other already, but, whatever, I think I've lurked here long enough...

To all you guys discussing story tips already, I'll go back and read those when I'm less effing tired. Promise. :)

Froggy's my name, being a girl, roleplaying, and scribbling stories are my game. I mostly write FanFiction (both clean and not) because for the -real- novel I'm working on, I want to practice some basic character development, scene descriptions, and the like, so that I can get a good basic feel for it before pouring my soul into a true life-consuming work.

So, yeah, I use fics as an outlet for creativity when I feel like I want to express an idea really badly. Which happens a lot. I'd love to write real stories more often, problem is, original ideas are hard to come by in this day and age when it's all been done. S'why I applaud the writings of books like Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

I was inspired to start writing...mostly through reading the children's books I have collected over the years, Ga'Hoole, Artemis Fowl, Harry Potter, and the like, I mean, if you can write a story that can keep a kid fascinated (and STILL reference Nazis with something as OUT THERE as owls, like Ga'Hoole), you can paint whole worlds with words.

In all honesty, I know most claim FanFics are probably sick and wrong and unoriginal (I mean, you do use copyright characters), but I find they have a certain charm to them. Essentially, you take a template (i.e., that world/those characters), and then mold your OWN amazing idea from it. It's like taking a seed to grow a plant, y'know?

Anyway, I'm probably rambling, point is, I'm glad I'm in the writing forum, now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go use my copy of The Hot Zone for pillow. *collapse*

FUCK, I hate this series so hard, and I started laughing at poor Edward's very thought of bile...I almost felt pity for him.

Almost.

Unfortunately, Smeyer had been planning to write a novel of Twilight being told from Edtard's point of view and thus proving he's just the obsessive stalker we all know he is. (Google "Midnight Sun", someone leaked the first 12 chapters, clearly they knew that she had to be stopped as soon as possible.)

Oh man, if you can write like this, you can do anything.

Response to: Gagsenjade Ng Fanfic Posted July 5th, 2010 in Writing

Eh...well, could use a tad more detail...just a tad, this is still very spot on. As good as it is, I like very visceral, detailed descriptions. And I mean visceral, as in, 200 words to decribe the steaming stink of freshly spilled entrails, visceral.

Though your description of the scuzz under the foreskin was enough to make me nauseated. Bravo.

Course, I think if you get too well detailed, they blam-ban you for writing good porn. Who knows, really...

(This would explain my reluctance to post my Exmortis 3 gay pron FanFic...because it's actually good. XD)

P.S. Futa turning away the girls...? What am I, invisible? (*is a female*)

This is a lot like the description in hentai bliss, except the girl's actually got some opinion in this one...

Seriously, where do you people come UP with these words...? Is there just a giant thesaurus with different names for sexual organs and the like?

...damn. I still have to admit it turned me on, though.

You don't have to attend meets or wear fursuits to be a furry. I'm pretty sure most people here don't, especially the latter.

I don't, although I do have a fursona (or Scalysona, I'm technical.). Furries don't even need to have 'sonas to be furry, if it helps.

I read a lot of pro-furry webcomics, though. There's Housepets!, Concession, Precocious, and The Unstuffed. Most of them are a little kiddy-ish, but Concession and The Unstuffed are great for the old-timers like us.

As for serious stuff, I'm working on some drawings. I'm not as good as Naylor, not by a long shot, but I'm not compltetely hopeless.

Anyway, I like the rather positive feedback I've gotten from here, this really does seem to be a friendly Crew.

Oh, Happy Valentine's. Found this via Google, those awesome bastards. ^_^

Anyway, I dunno if we want to go...activist-like, maybe coax people into realizing furrydom is not an unholy leprosy, or if we just want to keep together, maybe trade art, stories, RPs, what have you...

If you guys want access to Naylor comics without the inconvenience of payment, just PM me, I know a guy. *laughs*

But as I was saying, I'm really glad to be a part of this, I think we could do really great things, together...

At 4/24/05 04:45 AM, Ironballs16 wrote: First of all, I'd like to welcome you all here. Now for you non-furries, I'd like to explain what a furry is (wrote this to another thread, but realized it wouldn't quite fit how people were acting/posting). There are a few levels to furriness, as well as different fetishes. And just so all of ya know, anal, which seems to be getting more mainstream by the day, IS a fetish. So it's not just the far out shit that you see (bondage, cutting, etc.)

1) Online: This is where a LOT of people fall under, including myself. I happen to roleplay as 8 different types of animals, my most common ones being a zebra and a tiger. Also with this is what TYPE of furry you are, either a quadrupedic (one that goes on all fours, basically the REAL animal) or bipedic (one that goes on hind legs) and displays human characteristics except for facial structure, fur, tail, and/or whatever else is exclusive to that animal. At this point, I've actually been with my mate (think gf/wife) for 7 months, and we do plan on hooking up in reality once I graduate from college. So it's not ALL about the yiff (though that IS fun).

2) Public demeanor: Some of the people who roleplay online will act as normal people in daily life. However, some do act like animals 24/7, putting on neko ears, tails and the like, or just acting like an animal (i.e. biting someone you don't like, purring, etc.). These behaviors really show up in the bedroom though, but so long as you aren't into #3 (see below), it's not too different than simple roleplaying (i.e. burglar and helpless housewife, plumber, etc.), which is VERY MUCH accepted by most people.

3) Fursuiting: This is what most people think of when they think of furries. These are the people that can be found at Anthro-cons (furry meetings, just like anime-cons and the like) dressed up as an animal. The outfits can range from being just the little cat-ears and tail (that quite a few people like to see women dressed as, and usually called Nekos) to the elaborate full body suits of fur, much like Bugs Bunny and the like... except not infringing on copyrights.

4) Plushy-philes (not sure on spelling): These are the furries that really REALLY enjoy their stuffed animals... and not always in the most childish of ways. I personally am kind of... *shudders* about it, but I also recognize that everyone has their own way of getting turned on, and so long as they don't BRAG about it, I'm fine.

Now with the furriness, the mainstream media really has given it a bad rap. I've read reports on news websites (NOT blogs) where they interviewed a plushy-phile who was VERY open about what he did. However, they also focused on how abnormal this behavior was, rather than looking at all aspects of furriness. Aside from this, I heard from a friend that on a recent CSI (I don't watch it myself), the plot involved the fursuiting types, but in a fairly bad light (namely, just having sex in the fursuit, rather than just hanging out in them, as some do). Hope this might clear up misconceptions about the lifestyle, and feel free to respond/add on to this.

Note: All of the stuff said above is not based on scientific data, but rather is pulled straight out of my tailhole. So if anyone has an educated source they can give the link to, I'd love to hear it. On a personal note, I've only "come out of the forest" to about 4 people, all of whom were either "cool, that's nifty" or "okay, that's fine by me".

Hallelujah, there is someone who is trying to clear the air over a furry lifestyle. I too, am pulling this out of my arse, but I also wanted to post my own beliefs/opinions.

(Forgive me for posting so far late in the game, I don't visit forums...like...ever.)

I think that there are those who like furries, not just the yiffing kind, but even just casual animals, because some people, they connect better or relate better in animal form. There are, what I call, extremists, like the Plushyphiles, and I think fursuiters are a wee bit out there too, but that's just to me, I dunno, when I see them, I keep thinking of school mascots. Then again, I'm a nutbar 17-year old, what do I know? XD

As for furry classifications, I divide them into what type of furry they tend to...gravitate toward. I play the online MMO Earth Eternal, where you play AS an animal, no humans whatsoever, and we came up with these terms, fellow furry gamers.

Furry- The typical furfan, into feline/canine or the like, your most common type. Most commonly into wolves, dogs, cats, etc.
Scaly- Less typical, the scaly is more into creatures like reptiles, lizards, dragons, frogs, and etc.
Chirpy- Feathery lovers, into birds or similar creatures.
Aquatic- Those who like fish, whales, and the rare tentacular octopus. Hey, nobody said furdom was clear of its nutbars, either.
Hoofy- A fur fan into hooved animals, such as horses or deer, even unicorns fall under this category.

(Yes, unicorn furries are not as rare as you think.)

I myself am a Scaly. I really don't like the bad rap furries have gotten, it's caused a severe isolation of the culture as a whole, where other groups will gang up on these types. It's really not fair to be ostracized like that.

Anyway, just my two cents. I dunno if you can be in more than one crew, but I wouldn't mind joining this one.

Froggy, out.

If you have, I dunno, a need for banners or a crew listing, I'd love to help.

My name is Froggy, I love just about any form of fiction novel, particularly Harry Potter or something with a dragon in it, I'm currently dabbling in zombie literature at the moment and I am in fact hoping to write my own original story.

Most of my writing practice comes from FanFiction, no, I do not write slash but I do read it. I'm less offended by the slash and more so by the lacking quality of the writing. Especially since most of these fangirls can't spell worth a shit.

Bottom line is you're a lazy teenage bum who's too limp dicked to ask his parents for the money to buy a game because you can't come up with it yourself.

It's nineteen-fucking-dollars. Get jobs. Go return some bottles. At least check the couch cushions for loose change, you penniless basementdwelling philistines. Since none of you have had a haircut in over 2 years you should have been able to save up nineteen dollars by now. Check the ashtray of your parents' car for fucks sakes. If you don't have $19 dollars in your pocket or a bank account, what the fuck are you doing living in a first-world nation? I know day-laboring wetbacks that can come up with 19 dollars, and you can't? Take a page from their book- go mow some lawns, ten bucks a pop and 2 houses later you're good to go.

Jesus Christ, I've wasted more than 19 dollars on a tip before. And she wasn't even a good looking stripper.

You fucker, I'm in both high school and college, my mom's a teacher and hates her job, we have me and 4 goddamn horses to feed, the economy's gotten so bad, my former 100% full-ride college scholarship just got scrapped.

And don't you fucking say we can sell the horses. You come down here to Florida, the most you might get is 300. For a world-champion showhorse. There's no fucking jobs to be HAD, and I don't even have the time to get one because college is eating my life.

You looked at a bank account recently? I turned 17 about a month and a half ago, my mom had to take my 50 dollars in birthday money in order to keep the bank from overdrawing on the 55 CENTS she had left in it.

So yeah, damn right Leffler's selling out. At least he has a job. I was looking forward to this game for 3 years, even planned to scrap up a Vlaew costume for Halloween with my best friend.

Not anymore. And you, you go a week with only a few meals like my friend. She's worse off than me.

So fuck off.
