HOLY CRAP, REVIEW ME!
Holy crap bro. I have a life and I'm in college so I review when I get the chance. If your going to cry about it then I'll review you.
Age/gender 13 - male
Height/weight - 5'4 - 120 pounds
Build - average.
You sound like every other small little kid that tries to join so far.
My sister:
Age/Gender 26 - Female
Height/Weight 5'8 - 165
She's a big girl fro how short she is. XD
Build - in shape.
Of course I didn't say that was a bad thing. It was either a little chunky or that she was in shape and had some muscle.
Primary shelter: My house, It has a lot of heavy furniture so barricading might not be a problem, A couple windows but most of them have some shrubs in front of them from the outside or some form or furniture in front of them from the inside.
Ah yes, something small as a shrub can actually help! Especially those really thick ones. This makes barricading just a bit easier.
Fallback shelter: My attic in my shed, it has alot of space and tools and its REALLY easy to barricade yourself in because it doubles as my dad's antique and second hand shop. (lots of funiture and heavy objects)
So this attic.. how do you get up to it? I know some have pull up steps, but other places have regular steps. If these are regular steps it's a bit harder to barricade, but this doesn't sound bad as your primary shelter actually...
Note: I don't really have an escape plan for this shelter, When im up in the attic the only way out is the way i came in.
No windows?
Location/town size or population density - Small rural town - Green Valley - Not alot more than 100 people, and their REALLY spread out, This is a farming community.
100 people? I've only saw one town that small in my life.. I mean my senior class had that many students back in high school.
ABILITIES: I Run and bike alot, i can swim about half a mile before getting tired. and i can build and help keep with whatever wood-work needs to be done. (Keeping the doors boarded shut and shit)
Oh yeah, and im a great shot with my rifle.
Sounds pretty good. How much can your run before getting tired? Can you go over a mile, two miles, etc...?
EQUIPMENT:
Books, lots of em' to prevent boredom.
Blankets, lots of em.
Grab a pillow if you have time. :P (not important though and the blankets are)
Seeds, big ass packs of em' Its what we use to plant the garden.
Good, especially if you can manage to plant them inside someway by a window.
Woodpile down in the basement, that has a fuck load of logs and boards.
Woodstove: Not sure if this counts, but whatever.
You can cook..., but it might bring attention towards you as of the smoke. Won't bring zombies, but it will bring people if they think there is a safe place to go.
Plenty of tools: Crowbars, farming tools, hatchets, Gardening tools, Shovels, Hammers, nail guns ect. (For use of work around the shelter ONLY)
Two shotguns with about 200 shells and a 30. Rifle (We hunt alot, and that rifle is good for deer and anything smaller than a moose) with about 50 shells.
Shotguns are actually rather bad for killing someone that is infected as the blood spray. I don't know why zombie movies picked them as good. Now if your hanging out a window or using slugs from a distance that's a bit different.
Bottled water: about 5 cases of the stuff, and their like 20 packs, so i don't think were going to have to worry about that for a while.
It's good to start off with.
I also think that if i had any warning of the outbreak i could fill the bathtub up with drinking water, as well as the sinks (I have plugs so the water would stay there, So i think that would help make the bottles last a while longer)
If you have roof access you could also do something such as put buckets out, etc...
Canned goods: We have a fuck load of canned stuff, At least 100-150 cans if we searched the entire house (The basement is loaded) I would move all the canned goods and supplies over to the shed attic/ stock pile them inside the house.
Good, this can last for a long time. Of course eat all the regular food in the house before it goes outdated.
Garden: We grow alot of things in that garden, we have potatoes, tomatoes, Carrots, Rhubarb ect. But instead of risking going outside to gather the veggies im going to get flower pots and planters from around the house and put them up on the second story windowsill so it can gather sunlight. (we have alot of random decoration plants, So i can really put those pots to use)
Good thinking my friend.
Medicine: We have SOME medicine: Aloe, Advil, Prescriptions (Some painkillers because of my sister's ear infection) Gravol (Helps with stomach sickness)
You need antibiotics.
Hygiene:
With the amount of supplies you should limit showering and mouth hygiene as much as you can while still staying somewhat healthy.
But now that you mention the possibility of infected poolwater... I can put up rain catchers on the roof of my house (I have a window that over looks the pool, and i can step on the outer windowsill and hold onto the shingles and step around to get to the top of my roof.) We get a fuck-ton of rain here, We had about 10 days of clear weather this summer, it was raining the rest. I will only clean clothes with water im sure in not infected and only if its water that i have left over. (Me first, Clothes later.)
Boil with the woodstove? That will kill anything infected.
STARTING OUT:
Remember that the best time to venture out for food is winter. If you can keep your supplies going until winter then when the temperature is below freezing at night zombies will more than likely freeze.
After the dreaded running out of supplies i would have to skip to another part of town, Down the road past my neighbor's house there is a big lumber yard/sawmill. I figure i can get into there and barricade myself in to one of the storage areas with the giant metal doors, and barricading wont be a problem because of the big vehicles like forklifts and stuff i could park/push infront of the doors, and the millions of boards of plywood that would be there.
I don't know if I like this so much.. garden food should be enough for the warm days and that's what you should eat every day. Canned food in the winter only and only go for supplies in the winter if at all manageable.
But for now here's my barricading plan for the house:
I only have three doors to get into the house, One in the front, one in the back, and one in the basement.
(NOTE: THESE ARE STEEL DOORS... well the back one is anyway.)
Why are they steel doors in a house?...
FRONT: I have a lot of things there, After nailing the door shut, using some of the wood from the big woodpile in the basement, I could push my couch up to the door and we have a big Desk-Mirror thing that could be pushed up to the door too And not to mention my big recliner chair that i could push up as well, No zombie would be able to knock that down... i hope...
Probably not. Your sister is there too right? So of course these things will move quite quickly with two people doing them.
BASEMENT DOOR: Right next to my woodpile, Boarding that up shouldn't be a problem.
I would still push something up to it if you could because if they want to get through boards they will eventually.
DAY TO DAY LIVING:
Ah, you read my mind. See I don't read all of a plan at first and just go through it one by one. :)
SUPPLY ACQUISITION: Having my indoor garden and looting my neighbors. There is also a neighboring cornfield that has so much corn its unbelievable.
Assuming that it's corn season in that field as they don't plant corn everywhere. It would be retarded if they did as crop rotation probably takes place.
Also, farms are easy to barricade, but that also means whoever is there might still be alive...
