Okay that's what I would think, since Canadians have never done anything to hurt anyone really, and are of French decent. And yes, I know that the movie was highlighting American rudeness when Colin Farrell said "Thanks for killing John Lennon, ya damn Yankee" after he punched the Canadian in the face. But does that mean the police would not care if he hit an American?

So i was watching In Bruges recently when me and my friend came across a disagreement. The argument was:

Does the fact that Colin Farrel getting sent back to Bruges for hitting a man who happened to be Canadian imply that there would be no disturbance if he hit an American?

I said that this was implied, but my friend argued that there was no mention of this in the movie. While this is true, I still think that it fits into that "everyone hates Americans" cliche.

Is it just me or am I reading too much into this?
