okay -- not necessarily uninformed... just prone to over-generalization?

i don't understand why it takes constantly reminding people that what they hear or see in mainstream media does not represent the whole (or even the majority) of what's out there. it's like... you're trying to make an intelligent argument, right? so, why are you purposely ignoring such obvious diversity? it's either because you already know your argument is flawed, OR, because you're actually unaware of how much diversity there really is, and are thus uninformed. or at most, not-informed-very-well.

This is the flaw in your argument... people say that if you make a generalized comment about... ANYONE, you are steriotyping. But if only 1 out of a million do something, how is that a steriotype?
Likewise, what's more prevalent out there, the rappers who have a message who just stay off to the sides, or the ones that wear 80s sunglasses, enough gold chains to sink the Victory, do stupid dances, and obsurd music videos that have absolutely nothing to do with what they are singing about? The answer is the latter.

No, not uninformed. I'm serious at first it seemed like rap had a message, but then you see the rappers in their videos with "Hoochi mamas" doing their pathetic little dance, and just looking like someone who would be stabbed after spending two seconds on the street.

Your a inconsiderate idiot. You answer none of the other questions presented in that post; on top of that you chop off part of the post to make it seem like that was the last thing I said. It's a good thing that you are a useless leech that doesn't make any rules, or contribute to the world in anyway. We use music for expression. If you take that away from people you end up with a lot more confused, emotionally impaired people. If people can't express there feelings through there art they find a different way to express it. The different way of expression is normally a lot more violent, and endangering then music with a few vulgar words.Thats why we value freedom of speech, and freedom of press so much in The United States. If you where somehow able to successfully remove all rap, and R&B from the world it would be a world with a lot more chaos then the one we live in today.

Hey I've been pretty civil in my comments, there is no reason to resort to childish insults.

BTW it's "You're" not Your.

And I'm not saying that's all you said, it's simply the only part I find relevant or humerous in any way. So I commented on that part as a bit of comic relief.

Listening to rappers is making me sick... I've never seen such a hack job of the English language.

Gansta... it's pronounced ganster! If you can't even pronounce what you are, shut up.

I hear my n*ggas... ok first of all it's African Brothers. The correct N word is a racist slurr, shut up!

Damn Crackas (interesting isnt it how NG allows this, but not the N word.) Racist against white people.

Pawdy... it's pronounced PARTY "Par tee" not "Paw dee"

Smack dem hos... ok first of all it's THEM not DEM. Finally ho? Seriously?

Music Videos... Posted February 11th, 2011 in General

Music videos from what I've seen have gone really far down hill in the last 23 years or so. Look back at videos for Journey, Metallica, Foreigner, Guns and Roses, The Cure, John Parr, and other greats from that Era. Their videos had substance coriography, even some had a small story line in the background. This went on (a little) into the 90s. But midway through... something went horribly wrong.

Todays music video features someone who should be serving me chips and a sandwich at your local fast food restaraunt doing their little gangsta dance with a bunch of trampy bimbos sporting revealing clothing and boob and ass jobs. What the hell happened?

In 2001, the US declared war to Iraq not only because of 9/11 but mostly for fossile energy, stupid America declaring war to a country while the only responsible was an organisation know as : Al-Qaeda. Duh big deal. And I've never heard a single american complain about Britain but mostly about Canada, hell, the US have always hated Canada for some shit that happened some 300+ years ago.

And you criticize me for not reading history? The United States invaded AFGANISTAN due to 9/11. They've said several times over their invasion of Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. I've heard more anti - American sentiment come from Canadians then the other way around.

You were, but I saw groups all over the US and it's allies on the news screaming to drop the Nuke.

Afghani history has been absolutely dominated by violence since 1979

Actually, long before that, we invaded long before the Soviets did.

when the Soviet Union intervened to install a new government. First there was the war of the mujahideen against the Soviet Union which drove the Afghani youth into refugee camps on the afghani-pakistani border.

Aren't you forgetting the Northern Alliance, backed by the Soviets and lead by General Rasheed Dostum and two others? In the North, the Soviets modernized Afganistan, gave them weapons to protect their land, taught women to read, etc. Things weren't like they were in the Rambo movies until the Allies intervened and started funding the people we now call terrorists to go into Afganistan to beat back the Soviets. These people were driven out of Afganistan in to places like Turkey and such, and then were allies of the US during the second invasion.

When the Taliban were in power the USA realised that they could not bring the desired stability to Afghanistan. Soon 9/11 came along and the US decided to invade Afghanistan to build a new nation.

Seriously, what do you expect to come out of a country with this kind of recent history? This history of violence has bred violence in Afghanistan. And the kind of war the US is waging on Afghanistan will only breed more violence. An invasion of Afghanistan or any other country to fight terrorism is completely ridiculous. It's like trying to fight the concept of resistance, completely impossible. I'd say that the only good thing that has come out of this war, is that the Taliban government has been overthrown, however, there have been many atrocities committed to achieve this and as I have said before, it has caused a massive humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. Basically the USA helped install the Taliban government and has now overthrown it.

Fair enough. Look, I'm not saying that things weren't done poorly. The United States handled the first Afgan war poorly, WE are not doing much better with the second one. America Also royally screwed up Vietnam, which could have been avoided had they left France to deal with Vietnam or opened negotiations with Ho Chi Mihn when he came to you in the first place.

That said, if it wasn't for the US, Britain would have been overrun long before the Russians would have had a chance to regroup back during WW2, and while I don't agree we'd be speaking German if not for the US, we might be speaking Russian. The Soviets never had a good history of giving back what they've taken, and WW2 might still be going on today as we try to then kick them out.

The point I'm trying to make is you have people in my country, france, and Canada who do nothing but sit back, make jokes, whine and complain when the people in the US are for the most part good, well-meaning people who are doing the best they can to restore peace. All of us have a lot of blood on our hands, and none have the right to criticise another because we suddenly get a sense of righteousness.
