I searched google and am getting quite confused. It seems to me more people are posting articles on installing Windows FROM a USB drive. I have an 8 GB USB drive and intend to install Windows 7 ON the actual USB drive. My problem is that the different articles on google confuse me because some are about installing from, and some installing on a USB drive. Does any one know an article or know them self how to install Windows on a USB drive? I found thishttp://www.intowindows.com/how-to-in stall-windows-7vista-from-usb-drive-deta iled-100-working-guide/ but the article title confuses me when it says "from" and I cannot tell what the main goal is. It seems more like what I am looking for, but I don't want to screw up and ruin my USB drive.
Also, I believe that installing an OS on a USB drive is completely possible. Like the linked article shows, I believe he is saying that you must convert the drive to NTFS, which supports OS capability. Then you could say "but USB drives have no CPU or RAM." Well guess what, neither do hard drives alone. A USB drive is simply a small hard drive, so there is no way this SHOULDN'T work. I really want to do this because I then could take out the USB drive and insert it into any private computer I want (and public if I can get into the BIOS...>:D...) and use windows 7 right there. If it would be compatible with other mother board of course, but I have faith in that. This means that i could have my computer any where I want, and for people with 32 GB+ drives, they could literally have ALL They need; flash, docs, pronz, apps, games (dude, you could so install a game...tight), and every thing else. And if you need back up space, just use the internal drive on your victim computer for over flow storage. I have the Windows 7 RC on disc so once I know how to do this, I will definitely do it with Windows 7.
