Dude--
Some of these coffee growers goes to towns telling men opportunities of work and money. These men go with the growers to remote areas in Latin America, with several miles of danger and wilderness between the beans and the towns.
And so the growers charge their 'workers' for housing and food. And they're atrocious living conditions. And basically, these growers, with guns, make these workers work all day. At night they give them rice, which is often time infested with wevils.
The more they work, the more they get into debt. And this debt is so high, the workers try to work more to try to level off. This is exactly the Encomienda System the Spanish did to the Natives in Mexico.
And when a worker tries to run, they are shoot or mauled by dogs.
And some of this coffee beans have leaked into Starbucks' special blends. The last time I remember reading this up in Mercury News as the past September, and who knows. Maybe Starbucks reformed.
But I don't know, and till I know-- I won't drink their coffee until I know that somebody didn't nearly die for it so that I can get the savings.

Coca Cola were so adament to sell coke to the last natives in Chiapas and other areas, who don't speak Spanish but dialects of Nauhtl (Aztec)-- that in their marketing schemes, they weaved themselves to their culture's fabric.
These people believe in God. But they also believe in other Aztec Gods and Saints. And so Coca-Cola created a slogan: "The Drink of the Gods." These people actually think Coca-Cola is a drink of God. So you'll see Coca-Cola in their costums.
These people are so malnurished that when they get a sugar rush, they believe that it's magic and so they drink lots of coke, thinking it's healthy. It's gotten to the point where mothers are replacing breast milk with coca-cola, unwillingly setting their children up for so many healthy problems in the future. Though many of these natives are hungry, they're obese.
And what is more,
in other Latin American areas, Coca-Cola participates in the promotion of government corruption, and exploitation of resources. I can't remember which specific country, but I do remember that Coca-Cola was polluting the only drink water source of this town. Lemme try to remember.
Although Coca-Cola have higher standards in the US, but beyond US borders, as the saying goes,

You know, there are quite a few folks who are normal, despite their sexual preferences. There are gays who are straight edge, in monogamous relationships, and believe in god.
I know several fucked up straighties-- but that's not because they're straight. It's because they're fucked up. I mean, seriously you-wont-believe-it fucked up.
I've always said that homosexual people are perfectly capable of choosing not to be homosexual, and I stand by that. Heck, I could just as easily choose to wear a down parka in Phoenix on a sunny day in June.
A homosexual can play straight. Yes, I've done that before because of fear. We have some gays like Roy Cohn and ex-New Jersey Governer James McGreevey have secrets. Movies such as American Beauty and Angels in America also illustrates this too.
A gay person could have heterosexual sex, just a hetrosexual person can engage in gay sex.

The Hero's Cycle can be found even in short stories.
Little Red Ridding Hood follows the Hero's Cycle.
Beauty and the Beast, Snow White, etc follows the Hero's Cycle.
You've probably written stuff before and followed the Hero's Cycle, without know it.

It will be the neverending search that will never be proven, but will keep going just for the sake of homosexuals who want to claim that it's not their choice.
Do you know HOW BIG news about a conclusive answer about homosexuality? It would be HUGE! Of course there are some scientists that claim something on both sides of the argument. But there is always doubt.
Until I see something from JAMA from a study that is double blind...
I'm not convinced other then that the argument tends to swing on the Nature argument.
Meaning,At least their is some solid evidence in my corner. Check out www.narth.com/
You're argument about gays choose is as valid as my argument that gays are born.
Oh,
Yes, and my experiance with life isn't evidence.
*eye rollie*
Being gay and talking about my gay experiance and about how I most likely became this way is, of course, in no way sufficient to prove my point.
Mon Dieu, Monsieur Expert.
I had no idea.
When there's scientific bias, meaning if one person tries to prove one thing because that's what they believe or try to change results, then the study becomes invalid and the scientist's reputation tarnished.Dean Hamer's been doing pretty well lately. his reputation hasn't been tarnished, he even wrote a 6 figure book about a new gene called "The God Gene."
I'm illustrating how this homosexual simply did not choose to be a homosexual. I still have early memories about being different.I'll take your word for it. Of course, you are not denying the possibility that an outside event may have caused this.
Like abuse or odd settings?
I tell you about growing up as a kid. I was poor. We had no TV. I had good friends. I was never touched, abused, raped, or anything tragic in that sense. I was happy as a kid. I didn't have to worry about my safety, about my parents relationship. I never went hungry. I had good male role models. My mother is a good person who cared for me, but never clinged on.
If you're believe that something musta happend to me to cause this, please-- snuff that idea out of your mind.
I had a normal child hood experiance.
Oh my goodness. You had homosexual urges?Boning men. What other kind of homosexual urges are there? JK.
What were they about?
As a kid!
That wasn't like that for me. My goodness, the sexual tensions didn't start till I was 13 or 14. And these were the same kinds most 13 year old boys had-- except mine were for men and not women.
Surely there had to be something much more "innocent". Surely there had to be "puppy love" before something big like that. Like some young boys like how a girl smiles and not think about sexual contact or her pretty eyes, gays go through the same thing. I remember liking my 2nd grade teacher because he was handsome.
I'm pretty sure there was something before you progressed to thinking about men sexually.
Unless you were just a little curious, which happens quite frequently-- and it doesn't mean anything.
While anal sex never appealed to me, oral sex did. And so did male butts. I have never actually admitted this to anybody, and I avoided it for as long as I could. Luckily, I enjoyed women's bodies even better.
Being gay isn't all about the sex. It's about love, trust, a relationship. Sex is another aspect about being gay.
Don't know why you're talking about God, but...My objection to homosexuality stems from religion and our country's Judeo-Christian moral code.
whadeva.
'k.
Well, I know it's difficult. How do I know that the threads in my silk/cotton blend shirt was produced by a 7 year old girl burning her fingers with hot oil?
I try...
But I mean, if somebody feels so strongly about certain things, like illegal immigration, then I would think people would at least try harder. Otherwise, those people have no reason to bitch.
*rant on illegal immigration and Capitalism*
Oh, neva mind...
well,
You could google up Joseph Campbell's Hero Cycle. Make a character that goes through that cycle. Disney does this all the time.
Good stories, movies, epics, etc. follow the cycle, even if the writer isn't aware. Inyuhasa, Harry Potter, Full Metal Alchymist, Gilgamesh, Clarice from Silence of the Lambs, The Godfather, etc follows the Hero Cycle very closely...
Infact,
George Lucas was the very first to actually study the Hero Cycle before writting Star Wars.
Jesus follows the Hero Cycle.
Indeed-- The Hero's Cycle is very worthwhile to study if you want to write literature.

Excuse me,
but you give all of us diddley squat. Your argument is that science hasn't found a gay gene, thus gays have to choose that lifestyle.
But do you know why there is no evidence? Because there hasn't been any conclusive findings.
Meaning,
You're argument about gays choose is as valid as my argument that gays are born.
But so far, all studies on homosexuality are not conclusive. They cannot determine if homosexuality is nature or nurture. However, there is a strong inclination towards the argument that gayness is something inherent. But there isn't anything out there, without scientific proof on both arguments, to make a conclusive statement about the nature of homosexuality. No there isn't, it's only for gay activists. And there is plenty of evidence that homosexuality in not inherent, it's just gay activists don't want to hear that stuff because they'd like to be exonerated for their sinful lifestyle.
Yes, of course.
JAMA is full of liberal biases, but the 700 Club news will provide everyone fair and balance news.

My youngest memories of attraction is when I was 4. I liked how guys looked over women. Nothing sexual, of course. It wasn't even a crush or puppy love. I remember watching this news guys and girl, and I thought the guy was prettier.I got my first boner when I was two years old from April O'Neal, the cartoon character. What's your point?
I'm illustrating how this homosexual simply did not choose to be a homosexual. I still have early memories about being different.
That's my point.
I don't think it's any more appropriate to have sex with women out of wedlock than it is to sleep with men out of wedlock. Sin is sin is sin. I too, have had homosexual urges, but I denied them early and never had them again.
Oh my goodness. You had homosexual urges?
What were they about?
Yeah,I think homosexuality is "natural" just like sin is "natural." While it's not in God's cards, that's what we humans do best, and we'll find as many ways to do it as we possibly can. Sorry if I sound harsh.
maybe there are a few "voluntary homosexuals" out there.
But I'm very sure there are more born-homosexuals out there.

Many writers do that--
Cold Mountain and Oh Brother Where Art Thou were inspired by "The Odyssey".

A lot of us KNOW. Just as you KNOW that you were born straight.
I believe that it is simply the result of chemical and hormonal imbalances.
Yes, and a "gay-b-gone" is all what's needed to cure everything.
Reading empanado's post--
Just need to say something.
I was NEVER abused in my whole life. I was spanked occasionally with an open palm if I was acting bad-- but that's far from abuse.
While I am at it,
I didn't grow up looking at gay people. I didn't hear about gay people till I was like 12. I was not exposed overtly sexual stuff, or anything like that.

The whole sexual attraction didn't even occur till I was 13. Man, you want teeny angst, find a 13 year old boy who's going through puperty and getting arousing feelings, and denying them. It was the same Hell till I was 17. Although, I was sleeping with women (I was 15) and I was fine piece of ass for em. Thought it would "fix" everything, that I learn to be straight. But it felt worse that I was using a girl, telling her that I loved her, basically using her like a selfish pig. Depressed and suicidal, I ran into a freeway cause I couldn't take it. That's when I sobered up, and decided to come out. How could it be any worse?
I broke very last girlfriend's heart. I didn't even have the guts to admit why...
Well, anyways... life is undeniably better.
Yeah,
maybe there are a few "voluntary homosexuals" out there.
But I'm very sure there are more born-homosexuals out there.
You know the saying.
"Money talks."
And I believe that is very true. And that is why I think it is important that you learn about being a good consumer.
If you know that your the grapes you bought are picked by illegal immigrants-- then don't buy'em. You know certain companies such as Walmart purposely hires them, aiding them-- then don't shop at Walmart.
If you know some coffee beans used at Starbucks were harvested by 3rd world natives enslaved in an Encomienda type of system, then don't get that grande Frappacino.
If your shoes come from a company that exploits child labor in Twaiwan, then don't buy'em...
Know what you are buying because every cent is supporting to unfair things in life. And that doesn't need to continue. And really, if you feel really strongly about these issues and yet you continue your old habbits, then all you're doing is bitching. I get a sense of great irony and injustice about the person who complains about illegal immigration, and going to Kmart and buying a basket of strawberries.
Me, I try to be careful. If I know something, then I don't buy it. I haven't drunken any Coca-Cola FOREVER since I found out what they do with the last indengenious natives of Mexico. I advocate against Walmart as much as I can.
Look, it's hard to wane yourself from all these things. Sometimes you have no other choice. That's understandable. I don't think it is possible to enter public building that at least one illegal immigrant has helped create. It's pretty hard to imagine not buying a piece of clothing that whose fabric hasn't been touched by a tired kid.
But at least try.
