I won't ask about the nature of your surgery, but I hope things are well for you and your family.

HO HO HO!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
Well, at least my parents are alive.... for now.
Contain your joy, Tiny Tim...
Thank you, BTW...
I hope you are enjoying your Christmas, as with everyone.
I hope everyone is enjoying the other holidays, and feel happy at any point, in any season.

It's too big to post on the blog in its completion, but it's something that will be workshopped next year at SJSU. My old professor says he's really proud of me, and he's doing the favor of allowing the stage for me.
Soooo....
I'll be recording it and posting it up here... but that's in March.
The story is about a soldier who is haunted by a deaf Iraqi girl, who tries to give him a butterfly. He's faces the abandonment of his wife, the jealousy of his brother, and the sexual advances of his 12 year old neighbor. He has to figure out what the deaf girl needs from him, and the meaning of her butterfly.
Not a war story-- I think it's a ghost story above anything else.

Right now, I'm my own agent... but I hope that once I get some history behind me, agents will look for me. TheatreWorks is pretty prestigious on both sides of the US.
I've sent a crap load of 10 minute plays... (Including the "Buckets and Cans" in my sig)-- If I can get at least 3 more productions under my name, it will be a whole lot easier to be a professionally paid playwright.
Right now, I'm writing a play about the Pink Triangles, the ballet, and a complicated father/son relationship. That's as much as I can tell anyone right now because that's as much as I know... wrote the first 10 pages 2 days ago.
GREAT MOTHEREFFING NEWS.
My play "The Butterfly in the War" got a letter back from a professional theatre in New York and California.
Not an acceptance letter, but they're asking for my script.
This bodes extremely well for me-- once a theatre is interested in your piece, more than likely they will develop or produce it.
And that comes with monetary benefits... but that pales the benefits of watching your baby come to life.
Usually, quarry letters are ignored. They look at only agented submissions... which costs oodles of money.
Talk about beginner's luck!

Well, any time I see statistic on the gay population... it's always been that ratio, although JAMA, a few years back, had an article stating that the queer sexualities (not necessarily just gay, but bi-sexual, bi-curious, transgendered, and any degree of sexuality that's not straight) may occur at a higher rate.
It said that being completely straight is more rare than being just only slightly queer...
I don't know what's that statistic.
Otherwise,
people who outright identify with the queer community occur once in every 10 people.
At 12/17/09 09:57 PM, Zoraxe7 wrote: Is there a fancy word for the killing off of Gay people?
'Homocide'?
I think "genocide" would be a better word.
I mean, statistically, there are 1 out of 10 queer persons (gay, bi, transgendered) per straight people.
Uganda has a population 32,710,000... somebody, do the math cause... I'm terrible. How many queers are there in Uganda if 1 out of 10 person who is queer?
(I think, that's 3,271,000... but somebody, correct me.)
3,271,000 sounds pretty much like genocide.
If that is what the government and people of Uganda want than too bad for the homosexuals of Uganda.
But hay, maybe the bill wont pass.
I don't think it will pass, not at least without the world squawking.
It's...
sad.
Although, who knows it will pass or not pass.
Skunky, did your tattoo parlor get the 20?
Make sure you get some sort of receipt from them.

And when I say "basic" I do mean basic.
What good is the basics if they're only to give rise to another generation subsiding on basics.
Education (including vocational training) is something that all people do deserve because that gives them some ability to become less dependent on government subsidy.

Jesus showed charity for the sake of charity.
And how can charity be called charity unless you fulfill special requirements?
Charity is a generosity and joy in the heart... not a way to indoctrinate people. If the receivers of charity want to be a member, well, that's a perk for the church-- not a requirement.
Catholic Charities are being uncharitable.
We shouldn't force them, but we should note who their true colors now. And if they feel that's how it should be, then the government shouldn't provide them any public funds unless it's used blindly for anyone in need.
Everything is always peachy until the shit hits the fan.

The only problem with discussing religion with you is that your beliefs boarder on insane hate which is ironic.
Zero compromise, you are right and everyone else is wrong.
You seem to be waiting for the world to catch up to your ideas which will never fully happen.
What's there to compromise?
He's not spinning anything out of context. He's reporting what's Catholic Charities said (and let me embolden this point):
Catholic Charities WILL not help the needy unless they get their way.
Which is pretty darn ironic since they were a great financial contributer to the illegal proposition 8, which supposedly protected children...
And soon, Catholic Charities will shift the blame on Gay Americans and say, "See what those gays done to hurt these children!"
It's exactly saying, "See what YOU made ME do."
I support Catholic Charities, but they are truley indeed huge fucking bloody assholes, and I hope they will either 1.) reconsider the evil that they're inflicting on people, or 2.) permanently lose their tax extempt status and subsist solely on charities.

If those kids want to celebrate kick a ginger day...
then they can't not celebreate the next day, the stay-in-juvy-and-don't-drop-the-soap day.
People... TURN THE OTHER CHEEK!
People are looking at "them" and they're looking at "us." And they will realize that Catholic Charities are being horrible, willing to withdraw aid when it's most needed.
Let's see how many people will remain as Catholics after that stint...

Not really.
They started altogether from pagan traditions to celebrate harvest time... And it's all based on the seasons, so it's not that surprising that they're celebrated in close proximity to each other... and in similar fashions (death motifs, scarying away bad spirits, welcoming good ones is universal.)
Although, this I got to say on Day of the Dead...
If I see one more horror movie on Sci Fi that starts out in Mexico... on Day of the Dead... and every inch of the town is covered in flowers/skulls/paper (Yes, they're festive... but not as festive on TV)--
I may just flip the channel off...
Maybe...

Santa Claus is known through out the Latin Americas... though, it's the 3 Kings Day that they love.
I mean, even in Cuba... they couldn't censor out Santa Claus.

My sister's birthday was a day before yours.
My sister was actually born on Thanksgiving... so every other few years, we celebrate it on her birthday.
But she hates turkey, pumpkin pie, and yams... essentially-- all the thanksgiving foods (except for apple pie, and mashed potatoes.)

anyways, I'm starting to enjoy it.
I bought about 20 dollars worth of candy...
the cheap mini candy canes and stickers for the general...
the hersey kisses for the little ones...
the relatively pricey chocolate covered cherries for kids with special needs.
with the exception of the golden showers episode... it's not that bad.

I'm starting to like the Santa gig. It takes time to get used to the heat, but... it's great, actually.
Welcome to part time job (number 4.)
Yes... 4 jobs.
1st... the home business in photo
2nd... the photo studio
3rd... the improv gig
4th... Santa Claus.
The suit makes me sweat bullets. I mean... I get exhausted after a few minutes.
Today was lousy... a mom tried to force her daughter to sit on my lap, and I said in character... that maybe if she came back.
This girl is so upset and furious... she pisses on my santa suit, soaking my whole leg in pee.
ughhh... I had to buy new pants.
cold turkey and gravy sandwich is a cure...
I'm surprised that I haven't caught the cold or any other bug.
I caught them during the summer, but none right now in the winter.
Maybe I got it over with for this year.

I can't see the Turks doing it.
No they didn't, especially when it came with the special "medical" experiments. Himmler would ask for silly things like... 100 cases of Jewish menstruation blood... forget about it, and it would be sitting in some warm facility months on end. And NOBODY would remember the reasons for it (or have the records.)
And whatever records they kept, they tried to burn them so they couldn't be used as evidence against them in their trials and persecution.

On the Latino vote--
Latinos are conservative people, but they can't share the Republican/Ayn Rand ideological mindset. Latinos (I'm talking about Mexican immigrants) are poor people.
Just look at the churches that influenced both cultures... Catholicism in Mexico, and Protestantism in the US. In Mexico, Jesus is poor, hardworking, shares things, works with the poor by being part of them. In the US, Jesus is godly, helps the poor, but he's a leader instead of a member. And God shows favor to those who seem to be fortunate (instead of poor.)
This is the major influence, I see, how Latinos vote... and why you will see them vote against gay marriage (against democrates), but vote for health care reform (against republicans).
Oi--
happy thanksgving...
The turkey is taking FOREVER...
My recipe is different.
Bottle of wine... some chicken broth... head of of garlic... bunch of onions... rosemarry... some apple cider vinegar
reduce that to 2 cups of liquid...
put over the turkey (breast side down) and cook in oven. When almost done, flip the turkey and continue roasting until it's over.
