You could record it with Audacity and save it again as an mp3 with the 44.1 kHz rate.

I'd say so. I'm guessing it would be different recreating a sound when you are using a different version. If I was going to recreate a sound I'd try to do it using Sytrus on Fruity Loops, but I'm not very experienced using that plugin.

Fruity Loops is probably the easiet program to use. It took me a while before I got the hang of it. it's like learning an instrument, you have to keep practicing to get better.
