shin pads, I almost forgot about one of my favorite gear for sparing. because we do leg checks and the lower ranks don't always have control we love shin guards i have had friends leave with bloody cuts from not wearing them. there my second favorite right next to a cup.

I'm glad you no longer use knives, with the edges taped up. Even on steak knives, the edge has a nasty habit of working its way through the tape. I'm a bit concerned about the fact that those wooden trainers are several years old. Best to check to see that they're not too frayed or warped.

we used fresh tape every time so it was ok. and the trainers are fin the last time I checked there oke (it not like were bashing them around so they hold up well)

Fencing is a nice Art to take up. One of, if not the biggest keys to success is confusing your opponent about how close your fencing foil is from him. Try to point the tip up at his eyes so he can't see your weapon's length. If he thinks he's a safe distance away, when you both square off; you'll beat him everytime. :)

thanks for the tip I just started it seams to be fun, at the very lease its some exercise since i am away from the hombu.

o and to add to safety thing oke short bo and bo will shatter after extended use against each other so we use bamboo they splinter but stay together.

we use head gear for the kids class (adults 15 + its your choice) cup and mouthpiece always hand and feet gear are needed too. we don't use the body protects much because the sparing (at my school) should be just like a game of tag (tap i got you).

for knives we got some of those wooden ones a few years back, before that we just used the rounded typed stake knives ( with some duct tape on the edge for safety )

and that video was awesome how the stayed in sink so well, but i was wondering about the form its self in the second set of movements to 10:30 (using were they bowed in as 12:00) they did a hell of a flurry to the head, and then a kick at the same height when ever i hit some one in the head more than two three times they normally move out the way or at least lower there head to try and avoid getting punched in the head.
