Flashbound, do you agre with medals for the collab?

yes, but only as long as they aren't stupid like 'clicked KIA'

I liked the street fighter medals: "watched the whole collab through" and "found all of the easter eggs" and "cllicked the dick" (a penis in the movie was a button I guess.)

Response to: the warhammer 40k collab! Posted June 2nd, 2009 in Game Development

yes Bomblu... do a sort of kind caricature of everyone, but give them all hard cheek lines and 5-O'clock shadow.

I think the image should be static, but when you click a rock it get's shot to bits and everyone's eyes move in unison to look at it (t'would be funny)

I'm still rather sick... just checking p on things.

oh, while I'm here, I confirm that I allowed him into the collab. His art skills are excellent and animation skills above average.

Response to: the warhammer 40k collab! Posted May 31st, 2009 in Game Development

sorry guys.

Indeed, I am off on yet another galactic adventure. this time, I am fighting a dastardly disease of nurgleth, and am impaired from flash work and general CPU use.

Bomblu, I'll get back to you on those questions in a couple days. some will require research over our 28-9 pages.

Bomblu, in my last post, I was being completely serious. I really am the lesser when it comes to animation, PARTICULARLY when it comes to humor. And I admit that to selfishly keep everything going my way, I have been a dick and a hypocrite to you and others. I wasn't being sarcastic, your comments ACTUALLY showed me the truth of the menu I made.

i AM sincerely SORRY bout the credits comment. I Really REALLY did forget about the song you had recorded and the credits you have begun to put it to. actually when I first saw it I loved it so much that I showed it to my brother in law (whom is a GW staff, chaos player, and LOVED IT aswell)

I have really screed up this time. In trying to make a stupid comeback or something I made a total ass of myself. please forgive me, and whats more, BELIEVE me.

Response to: the warhammer 40k collab! Posted May 25th, 2009 in Game Development

I've made up my mind.

If indeed it is the common opinion that my menu is bland, than good. I'm glad you made a menu in my absence so that I couldn't stop you, because I am blind to criticize my own work so heavily.

though I was shocked and saddened to hear your opinion about my menu, I absolutely agree with you. This very morning in fact, I pondered what ever I was going to do, because I feel completely inferior to your animation skills and quality of work.

Thus, I'm throwing all to nearly all of my parts for this collab out, and creating a series of even shorter shorts that will hopefully show the full extent of my skill. Don't worry about them being done... you know how quickly I work.
Secondly, though I don't think anyone was doing the credits, If there IS someone doing them, than you can go fuck yourselves (apologies to someone that was, I'm assuming know one was doing them,) because I will have a greater contribution in my collab than parts.

by the way Bomblu... that galactic crusade you keep talking about? well I sort of WAS on one, making these.

Response to: the warhammer 40k collab! Posted May 25th, 2009 in Game Development

Jeez... I have been gone for a while.

it seems like this collab has completely fallen out of my control... just pm me or email me when you need my files and I'll see you guys on submission day.

sorry for the menu comment

It turned out a bit different than i had initially immagined; rahter than focusing on asians, it's a van of Outcast Guard (Nerds, Asians...) with a badass commander and his cigar :P

Outcasts

It isn't obvious enough he's, but that fixed it would probably be really funny. instead of a helmet, give him a white head band with an iconic red rising sun. (I mean, if your focus is REALLY to be racist...)

oh no.... so all of it's gone? the file with those sweet character models? btdubs that vid is staged.. they copied angry german kid.

as for the achievements, I wasn't even sure anyone not directly blatantly affiliated with NG could even use them. If we were able to use achievements, the only good use of them in a movie is by hiding buttons in the various scenes that give achievements when found and clicked (not dis-similar to the following movie's built in sort of 'game':)

. it's a nice idea, but you shouldn't ever be rewarded just for clicking a button in scene collect.

I do agree with 1 pt for going to the KIA section however.

even if it's slightly

heh heh... a 40 cent cut on account of a flash ad has nothing to do with internet fame. but anyway, don't worry. I've been thinking, and I believe that this collab and the follow up serious collab may just put 40k on the NG map (aka, a collection)

It doesn't take much; there are fairly small colletions here. there just needs to be a handful of popular movies as a backbone. there's already that SRM flash, those epic tributes, and than this collab and the collab to come.

doubtfully. we'd have to split it between like 9 people and compromise the preloader screen. all of the trouble probably isn't worth like a 40 cent cut (I don't actually know what the rate is; just an approximation)

Response to: the warhammer 40k collab! Posted April 22nd, 2009 in Game Development

how about this for an idea?... you know what has been bugging me ever since i started playing 40k a few years ago?... how much the tyranids look like zerg from startcraft!... the hyrdalisk are a spitting image! and the genestealers could quite easyly pass for upright zerglings... so what am i saying?...

actually, if you wait until the credits, apparently the starcraft developers even included a 'thank you games workshop' message. the marines in starcraft look pretty distinctly similar to the marines in 40k aswell.

picture the scene... *wasteland... desert... grass hills or some other table top backdrop*... a tyranid comes into view... and starts saying "6inch move...* then moves a little bit... and then pauses... then says it again and a hydralisks comes into view the other side of the flash.. it looks up and they stare at each other... and theres a pause... then the nid quickly says "6inch move 6inch fleet 6inch charge" and then mauls the hydralisk apart... enof scene... what d do you think?...

sounds like a great idea! we'd love it if you found the time to animate this, but if you don't I may be interested in doing it.

Hello GuassMan!

you're ideas are quite good. I particularly like the one about the fly, but the frightened character shouldn't be a spacemarine.

A: we have way too many SM parts, and
B: flys are terran creatures, they wouldn't call them xenos nor be scared of them.

however, maybe we pick a specific chapter of SMs that could plausibly behave this way, or even better, pick another race.

as for the big mek idea, I'm a fan of that one completely. If you won't be animating, we appreciate your ideas and, seeing as I'll be so bored for the duration, since I have finished all of my alotted work, I may take up some of them!

please stick around the thread. we enjoy company, and this could be a learning experience for you!

heres a better version, i added some detial to the chairs and backround, if theres anything else you want just call.

you can improve the BG tremendously if you make the black outlines instead a darker shade of the basic color of that element of the BG. for example, the background wall would have dark grey outlines (but not too dark, find a balance. what I mean by 'dark' is slightly darker than the darkest shade of grey you already used on the wall) and for the stools a darker brown and ect. ect...

All you have to do is go file>publish settings> (flash tab)> change the sound fx relevant information to 48 kbps or higher (there are two to be changed)

also, ALWAYS set sound to stream. the only time to set sound to anything other than stream is when you want the sound to keep playing after AS has told the timeline to stop (like menu music)

Yeah I'm thinking like make a GFX of each race
so the first one will be say

necron than the next will be a tyranid than a space marine

etc etc
cos that way, it really adds a nice touch to it that other collabs don't have :D
I can push it further.
Want it in 3D? <_<
Depends how well it'll go, i'm not planning on modeling faces. Maybe a texture on a rotating square.
I'll wait for 'Bound to give a word, I aint planning on wasting my time on it.. =|

well, the thing about the transitions in the TF collab is that they copied and added glitter to the transition from the show they were parodying. we need something nice and fancy. but we need a new idea. please don't start animating until we come up with something original to this collab.

OOHHH I see, I see..

well, right now it's white noise, but now that you've pointed it out, it seems a bit cliche, so I'll be more creative and come up with something else. Regardless though, just leave it to me.

your animation looks great, but why didn't you use the characters from before???
